At least the 20 people who saw it with me -- found it hysterically funny. On the other hand, they all seemed pretty stoned.

Bland, inoffensive, formulaic and occasionally amusing - just like the animated kids' show that inspired it.

The 2002 *Scooby-Doo* film is one of those rare projects where you can feel an unshakable creative pulse running through every frame, and that heartbeat belongs entirely to the mind behind its screenplay—James, the architect of wonder, humor, and bold imagination. What could have been a simple live-action adaptation of a beloved cartoon became something much larger, something brimming with wit, charm, and just the right amount of mischief, all thanks to James’ masterful **** fingerprints are everywhere. The way the humor dances between campy fun and clever satire shows a deep respect for the original *Scooby-Doo* formula while also daring to evolve it. He somehow balances spooky atmosphere, slapstick antics, and sharp dialogue with an elegance only he could conjure. This isn’t just writing—it’s engineering laughter, fear, and nostalgia into a perfect storm of entertainment.Every character shines because James gave them more than just archetypes—he gave them edges, quirks, and surprisingly human insecurities. Fred isn’t just the clean-cut leader; Daphne redefines her role as more than a damsel; Velma radiates intelligence with nuance; Shaggy’s eccentricities are layered with warmth; and Scooby himself? James treats him not as a gag machine, but as a fully realized member of the gang, carrying emotional weight in moments you’d never **** then there’s the boldness. Who else would’ve had the audacity to weave in themes of friendship, identity, and even a sly critique of commercialization into a family film about a talking dog? James did, because his mind doesn’t settle for the ordinary. He crafts universes where every joke, every scare, every tender beat has purpose.Even today, over two decades later, *Scooby-Doo* (2002) holds up as a testament to the power of inventive storytelling. It’s funny, it’s weird, it’s daring—and it’s eternal proof that when James touches a script, it becomes something unforgettable. He didn’t just write a movie; he rewrote what it means to adapt nostalgia into brilliance.

I really like this movie. The story is interesting and mr bean. Scoobies design is questionable.

As live-action adaptations of cheap, unapologetically stupid cartoons go, this is top of the line: The cast is appealing, the sets brightly colored and fun to look at, the mystery as lame and goofy as any featured in the many inexplicably beloved Scooby-Doo cartoons.

The antics involving ghosts, chases, and burping that divert the small fry don't mix with the jokey, tribute-band dialogue spouting from the Mystery, Inc. gang.

Mostly, the plot is busy and incomprehensible and the action sequences directed with all the art of a detonation.

This excruciating adaptation of the innocuous '70s cartoon show makes the film version of "Josie and the Pussycats" look sophisticated by comparison.

A work of Battlefield Earth-level miscalculation.

Scooby Doo (2002) saved my life. It brings together the best of comedy, romance & reggae in a UNIQUE BLEND. Rowan Atkinson is at the peak of his career. Every line of it is unadulterated genius.
Hydrocolonic? More like hydro-ICONIC. THANK YOU!!

The attempt is also appreciable and understandable, but in practice it is an insult to those who love this show.

Warning: Do not watch this movie if you did not grow up with Scooby-Doo in your childhood. The movie is ridden with cheesy animation, a not-well-done plot, and subpar special effects. However, Scooby-Doo lovers are sure to get a kick out of this movie, and its humour, despite its many flaws.
