A better film about war beneath the ocean and about guys in the "silent service" has not been made.

Hairy-chested drama aboard a US submarine, cruising dodgy Pacific waters after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Clark Gable is impressive as sole survivor of a sunk sub, given command of another. [06 May 2006, p.53]

There is never a dull moment in "Run Silent, Run Deep." It is a harrowing submarine tale about revenge and dedication. Burt Lancaster and especially Clark Gable are at the top of their game. It is one of the top 25 war movies of all time.
