Mirror Mirror has a great deal of energy and wit and color, so much that it sometimes threatens to go right over the top. Somehow, though, it always stops short of being just too much.

The result is mixed: the affable, family-friendly motion picture is lively enough to engage young viewers but will prove something of a challenge for anyone who has gone through puberty.

Lily Collins is fantastic as Snow White... the swordfighting scene between her and the prince is the best!! She has lots of potential to do great things, and anyone with Audrey Hepburn hair cannot go wrong!

As reinventions of fairy tales go, this one has some pretty big holes. Not all of the twists on the story work, but for the most part it's well-meaning, goofy good fun.

Flat and polished is a fine condition for mirrors, not movies. There is imagination galore but no genuine magic in Mirror Mirror, a Grimmly disappointing take on Snow White's fairy tale.

I've been told the movie plays best with very young girls. That's an insult very young girls should not be forced to endure.

There is one big winner in this mess, though. Congratulations, 1961's "Snow White and the Three Stooges": You're now the second-worst movie on the subject.

The old story of Snow White is retold in a refreshing way with Mirror Mirror. Rarely have I seen costumes and sets play such pivotal parts. This fun filled romance has a first rate beast at the end. The thrilling plot developments and wonderful acting keeps the show engaging. I greatly appreciate the clever way the background of the tale is introduced. The end has all those boring credits along with a beautiful music video kind of clip. Yes Julia Roberts does a great job here but she is not alone in making this magical show. I would recommend this movie for the following. Family night Romantics Children Girlie girls Insomniacs Baby sitters

OK. Someone compared it to the "Princess Bride" I sort of get that: a bit of humor, a bit of parody-satire, some romance--but here it is not nearly as seamless, or likable as the Princess Bride.--it feels disjointed.

It's a very bad film. Awful. It's funny but come on guys! There are so many better films to see instead of Mirror Mirror. It's without doubt one of the worst pictures of the year.

Despite a touch of Gaelic design flair which could have been a cue to letting lose with some fun, this retelling of snow white is just too dull to get the most out of itself. It seems to be going for a tongue in cheek vibe, a-la the princess bride, but its so frothy light that it becomes a battle to stay involved in the tale. Given that they are doing a story which everyone already knows the film-makers should have tried much harder to give it some character of its own. Its by the numbers and pretty dull as a result. Was going to give it a 2 but my niece (7 years old) liked it so it gets a bonus point for that.
