Hunter Killer

Won’t win any awards for acting or writing but generates suspense when it needs to and tells an engrossing Tall Tale.

However nutty its geopolitics, Hunter Killer does its job as popcorn thriller with brisk efficiency.

From start to finish, Hunter Killer is all wet.

The problem with this sort of Hungry-Man dinner theater is that it needs a true believer or at least a testosterone junkie behind the camera to rise above the lowest-common-denominator appeal of watching men yell at and rescue each other. Donovan Marsh is neither; his direction is perfunctory, unable to evoke even something as basic as the claustrophobia of a submarine’s interior. Perhaps he’s just following orders.

It runs a little longer than two hours, but feels more like two tours of duty. And it has enough plot elements to fuel an armful of Tom Clancy novels but somehow manages to make none of them interesting.

The film is a second-rate airport thriller that makes The Hunt for Red October seem like nonfiction by comparison.

The pacing seems intentionally designed to break your spirits, with a climactic set-piece that rages on forever, despite being comprised of nothing but shouting and torpedos. It makes Crimson Tide looks like a masterclass in international relations.

My son and I went to see this. We really enjoyed it. Was the plot line or acting extraordinary? No. But I was entertained, and that’s why I go to action movies. 10 out of 10, and I rarely give a movie a 10. My taste? I also gave A Star is Born a 10 and Crazy Rich Asians a 9.

It was ok movie with good action even though a bit silly plot in general which seems too unrealistic. Especially how it pan out at the end.Maybe also action seemed like nothing special at times , nothing impressive. But it was ok movie

This is a decent action-thriller with some pretty cool action scenes and passable acting.

This movie was so boring. There is very little reason to watch this. Stopped half-way and started watching something else. The characters were that bad normally I like these kind of movies like patriots day 13 soldiers of benghazi and the 15:17 to Paris. But this one I could have fell asleep to.
