Reasonably slick but empty, Eloise is no “Session 9” as far as haunted-former-mental-hospital horrors go. Heck, it’s not even a “Grave Encounters 2.”

With Eloise, Legato and company take a prime location, rich in history, and make it look like a soundstage.

It was surprisingly not bad at all. The cinematography was good, the acting was good, the story was interesting even though it was cliché and sometimes predictable and the movie was very entertaining. Overall, it's a more than decent horror movie to watch a friday night.

Not sure what to make of this movie. Actors are great, it's well filmed, there's a slow start, progression, a major twist, a LOT of small details pointing stuff, it doesn't bother explaining anything. So far those are signs **** movie. Problem is the details and the twist don't seem to add up to anything. Or it's one of those movies u have to be high to understand something ^^ The one thing certain is that the hobo is present and seems to be controlled by the 'ghosts', so they're hallucinating allright but things also happen in the real world. Still can't put a sense on the whole picture. Watch it and see if u can piece together the story :/

Mysteries of the characters' pasts are revealed, but Dushku and Crawford are so bland that their secrets barely registered to begin with.

A deeply unpromising debut horror flick by visual-effects veteran Robert Legato.

Robert Legato's film is lifelessly composed of the usual tropes of horror films set in mental asylums.

A horror movie of such ineptitude that it invites sympathy for even its least gifted participants.

A very good start (the first fifty minutes), interesting characters, good dialogues and a completely unsuccessful and clumsy ending. I expected a more interesting and clear continuation.
