Pseudo-lush but crummy flick. [15 Mar 1982, p.78]

Charles Bronson, as the avenging vigilante Paul Kersey, is turned loose this time on the creeps of Los Angeles and the results are every bit as revolting as in the original 1974 jackpot fantasy.

Charles Bronson returns in Death Wish II... Okay it's 1982 and Charles Bronson's Paul Kersey has a new life by the looks of things but a group of at least 5 thugs **** and kill his daughter and similar or same scenario for his housekeeper. Paul Kersey (Bronson) then lies to the police then sees his daughter's dead body and goes out for revenge killing each group of the thugs that killed his daughter. Paul Kersey's first encounter with the group was when they stole his wallet but after an attack on his home and his daughter he stops at nothing until all the gang of thugs are dead and one by one he kills them off... Death Wish II is more violent than the original and Michael Winner adds more for the viewer to indulge in and Death Wish II is fairly dark in places. There are good and bad sequels and some may think Death Wish II is a bad sequel but Michael Winner stayed fairly true to the original and this is my favourite sequel to Death Wish and my favourite Death Wish film out of the lot. Check it out.

Death Wish II is the sequel to Michael Winner's original Death Wish movie. Michael Winner (director) returns for Death Wish II starring yet again Charles Bronson as the vigilante killer.. After his daughter is killed he takes revenge on a gang of 5 punks who **** and killed her and Bronson's housekeeper. One by one they die as Bronson roams the streets of Los Angeles seeking revenge and with a pistol in his hand. Overall a great violent film which I loved but the **** scenes were unnecessary! 8/10

Washington Post
A rotten 89 minutes of night photography and close-ups of a man with the face of a dessicated bulldog. There's no kick, just sick: people who weren't being paid to watch walked out of the screening. [23 Apr 1982, p.13]

Entertainment Weekly
The shamelessly rehashed Death Wish II finds Kersey in L.A., methodically hunting down those responsible for his daughter’s death (just as she’s recovering from her assault in the first Death Wish).

The New York Times
Even more foolish, more tacky and more self righteously inhumane than the 1974 melodrama off which it has been spun by the none-too-nimble fingers of Michael Winner, who directed the original film.

TV Guide Magazine
The language is filthy, the film is simpleminded, and Bronson's character is as despicable as those he murders. Death Wish II wades in gore and violence, exploiting hatred, fear, and mass murder.

Chicago Sun-Times
What's most shocking about Death Wish II is the lack of artistry and skill in the filmmaking. The movie is underwritten and desperately underplotted, so that its witless action scenes alternate with lobotomized dialogue passages. The movie doesn't contain an ounce of life. It slinks onto the screen and squirms for a while, and is over.
