Hard to recommend for non-fans, but if you’ve read the manga or watched the anime, you’ll want to experience this. If you can get past the control scheme, that is.

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs: The Thrilling Steamy Maze Kiwami delivers a competent yet familiar dungeon-crawling experience, blending light-hearted anime storytelling with engaging roguelike gameplay. While the narrative is enjoyable and predictably steeped in anime tropes, the game's real strength lies in its challenging gameplay and strategic depth, particularly in its item management system and the unique Resonance Hot Spring feature. However, the game's themes and visuals lack innovation, and the PC port disappoints with its limited options and subpar controller support. Despite its solid mechanics and charming narrative, the game struggles to distinguish itself in a genre filled with more compelling titles.

I had fun with Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs The Thrilling Steamy Maze Kiwami, but then I am a hardcore fan of classical roguelikes. I still play Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon every once in a while, and I am looking forward to the next Shiren the Wanderer a great deal. Given that the fan service is neither fun nor sexy enough and the game doesn’t do anything else to stand out within its niche, it’s not my favourite roguelike. But I don’t regret having played it by any means.

Sadly, Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs: The Thrilling Steamy Maze Kiwami is neither naughty nor novel enough to recommend. While fans of the manga or anime might be tempted to go dungeoneering with ghosts, ninjas, and cat-girls, the Mystery Dungeon-style gameplay is too derivative.

You can look at Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs The Thrilling Steamy Maze Kiwami in two ways. The game is either a bad dungeon crawler or a horny anime game. It’s a game that offers little in story or gameplay, and it just feels like fan service for fans of the show. Unless you are a fan of the show and want more Yuuna content, or you want a video game with a lewder tone, this is not a game worth checking out.
