The design, structure and implementation of this game are wonderful. From the opening levels, with training that took us back to the classic X-Wing, right through to the epic dogfights of later levels, that erm, take us right back to X-Wing, Yager manages to impress.

Graphically it is the best Xbox game to appear this year (along with Panzer Dragoon). In terms of gameplay its story line will have you laughing and its explosive set pieces will have you yearning for more. Its balanced combination of all out blasting and adventure objectives will keep you entertained from start until finish.

Yager is a wonderfully designed game with good looking, immersive and diverse environments. The game play is action packed and challenging at times with the ship controls being uniquely complex, especially for 2003. The characters are also very likable and the challenges on each mission will have you coming back again and again to unlock more ship database models. Overall, this is one of my all time favourite games.

Yager is an impressive flight game with great graphics, a wonderfully designed world and an interesting plot. And most important: The gameplay is super cool. The only problem is the brutal difficulty and the crappy voice acting. But these flaws can be handled or overlooked. Great game!

With just a bit better speed sense and a few additional games modes, Yager could be a top notch affair.

Stylistically, it's all neon pinks and shiny gadgetry. Think "Halo" or "Phantasy Star Online" viewed from above. Its strange then, for such an organic looking game that the control interface is awfully clunky.

Provides a fair amount of entertaining, highly kinetic, action adventure gameplay at a very affordable price. But it's also a game that probably would have looked a lot more impressive if it had been released a year ago.

A rather inconsistent experience, in difficulty, enjoyment and general polish, but one that is saved by the core arcade simplicity that is occasionally given a chance to truly shine.

I really wanted it to work, and continued in the vain and unfounded hope that it'd all come good at some point. It doesn't.
