Warriors Orochi 4 brings the Warriors franchise back its roots -- after the disaster that was Dynasty Warriors 9 -- while pushing it in exciting new directions.

It's pure fun, and with Warriors Orochi 4, Koei Tecmo has done such a lovely job that I suspect I'll be coming back to it frequently for many years into the future.

Conquering the battlefield with new improvements and a neat new magic system, Warriors Orochi 4 is a welcome addition for the series and stands as one of the best overall games in Koei Tecmo's beloved hack n' slash genre.

The ceiling on combat potential has been shattered here, and using the new tools at players’ disposal can allow them to more or less combo indefinitely to their hearts’ content. While the breezy, fast and simple style of Musou isn’t for everybody, fans will undoubtedly have a blast pushing this one to its breaking point, should one even exist. Warriors Orochi 4 is an easy highlight in a series that has consistently improved (Dynasty Warriors 9 being an exception) over the past few years.

With the biggest cast of characters in the franchise and the new magic system, Warriors Orochi 4 is one of the best games in the musou series.

Warriors Orochi 4 is successful in maintaining the essence of the series while introducing new gameplay mechanics, making it a definite step in the right direction for the evolution of the series.

Warriors Orochi 4 is like a dream Musou game: matching up the two largest rosters from Omega Force, but like a dream, can at times be pointless or without direction.

The fundamental gameplay couldn’t be simpler, and the dialogue is terrible… but it’s good. There’s a staggering 170 characters to unlock, and you’ll soon find favourites. With an enormous amount of content, online and offline co-op (if you can find other players; I couldn’t), and some cool-looking moves, it’s a shallow but entrancing adventure. [Issue#157, p.88]

Warriors Orochi 4 is a classic musou, which takes the Warriors crossover to the next level. Challenging battles against thousands of enemies, co-op modes and the biggest roster of playable characters in videogames are the main features of this hack-and-slash. A conservative approach to the genre that the real fans wil love. Omega Force owns the formula to the ultimate musou and we are catching a glimpse with every new title.

One of the best Japanese hack´n slash games out there. More than 170 different characters to choose from and the 2P co-op mode are two of its best features.
