Despite its short length, Unhinged is a really fun treat for horror lovers and fans of interactive media. It reminded me a lot of full-motion video games, and it really felt like being a part of a horror movie, rather than just playing a game. If you find yourself in the mood for some bite-sized horror, turn off the lights and turn up the volume. It really is worth a look.

While it may be shallow, Unhinged is a step in the right direction in Netflix’s journey to innovate interactive entertainment on streaming platforms.

Have some high points, but they soon give way to glaring faults. Not the worst, but difficult to recommend. Tackling the ever-growing popularity of the horror genre and bringing in creatives that know that they're doing, Unhinged should be a step in the right direction for an interactive title on the big screen. But it's a giant leap backwards and sets a troubling precedent for the future of interactive stories. Unhinged had the potential to be a great horror game that could change the way we interact with this genre. But its subpar storytelling made Unhinged a poor attempt at a choice-based interactive film. A voice acting cast of huge names, effective use of lighting, excellent sound design, and a claustrophobic setting isn't enough to save this game, for tension is destroyed by its lacking challenge, illusion of choice, and failure to evoke something that persists beyond its short runtime.
