The Thin Silence
At moments a beautiful depiction of the struggles of mental health, but a greater progression should have been felt throughout.
While it takes a few narrative missteps, The Thin Silence oozes raw emotion as it courageously bares the suffocating reality of depression and loneliness, yet still manages to be a fairly entertaining game in its own right.
The Thin Silence hits all the right notes when it comes to the puzzling situations faced, with extremely smart ways of working through the various stages faced, continuously crafting new objects to aid with progress. Sadly, it does hold itself back too much with a painfully slow walking pace for the lead character, and some weighty prose that misses the mark, too often proving to actually be boring and/or confusing.

The Thin Silence is a thoughtful, well paced adventure through the dark world of mental illness. It won't cost you much in the way of money or time but what it will give you is an interesting journey of self reflection and a positive message of courage in finding self worth.

The game isn't something new in design but the idea is unique. It puts the player in a position, hoping for them to understand mental health issues. It does seem quite inconsistent in design, however, sometimes the game is a little bit bland but sometimes it can be pretty. The pace of the story could have been picked up a bit also which kind of sets an unnecessarily slow pace. The game isn't bad the but idea and cause behind it is great.

The Thin Silence is a charming narrative adventure filled with puzzles on the lines of Limbo and Inside. Tw PM was courage was courageous in dealing with issues such as depression and the socio-political issue, but the experience is sometimes a little repetitive and frustrating.

The Thin Silence has a satisfying, creative approach to puzzle solving, alongside a sad story told in equally sad snippets. Though you can reset puzzles and try again as often as you need, you might sometimes still be left at a loss.

I was not enamored enough with figuring out ways to get from point A to point B to ignore the reason I kept playing — discovering context and meaning for my efforts. By the time I reached the end I had discovered both which made me retroactively appreciate how the game had courted my uncertainty.

The Thin Silence, that cunkling sound that is inside everyone and drives you to hope. The game, with its puzzles and pixel art visuals, explores the depths of human depression not only by using narrative, but also with the mechanics themselves.

If you’re primarily interested in a story and don’t consider Walking Simulator to be a four-letter word, there are some interesting ideas in play in The Thin Silence – just don’t expect to find adventure game nirvana along the way.
