An amazing experience that is dripping with atmosphere, albeit not without some frustration. The Eternal Castle [REMASTERED] successfully captures the feel of an 80's or 90's platformer and manages to so much with so little, painting a beautiful world with its unique and oddly colorful visual style.

The one thing that will leave people frustrated and possibly even angry as they try to make their way through the game, is the controls. Not only will you have to either figure out most of it on your own or look them up, but the running-and-jumping parts can be especially punishing, as are some of the fights and shootouts. With gameplay, exploring and puzzles like what we have here, it's quite crucial to have tight controls, and sadly we don't.

Despite this flaw, the feelings that The Eternal Castle [REMASTERED] could leave you with are well worth getting a little frustrated, especially since you'll make your way through the game in only 3-4 hours. There's something about the world, what drives the character, and how the story is told that makes quite the impression and those of us who make it through it all are sure to want to come back at some point.

Another World fans will be delighted to play it. I liked the game. The only issue is the controls. Took me a while to figure out.

The visuals are simply stunning, music is great, gameplay is outdated, but it was still quite easy to play, and level design was very unique for each level. Great game!

A superficially charming but ultimately disappointing game: - the art and game design mimick the classic rotoscope adventures (Another world, Flashback...), however, it's much more of a shooter than an adventure - this is a great disappointment for me; - the art design is attractive and "retro-innovative", however it's excessive; in my perception, the imposed limit penalizes the immersion too much; - by having a very strictly old schools structure, it has slow and imprecise controls; - finally, I find extremely annoying (and confusing) when a game forces the player to use 6+ buttons, when it could comfortably do with half; Another World used one, and it didn't even have analogue controls! All in all, I'd say it's a myopic game, made by designers who did "retro for the retro's sake".

The Eternal Castle Remastered is the reason why the gaming industry has upgraded its adventure games. Sometimes a little bit of nostalgia is fine, but too much of everything is never good.
