Deep, complex and infinitely satisfying, Tales of Maj'Eyal is the pinnacle of the fantasy roguelike as it exists in 2013.

Though I personally don't enjoy roguelikes, ToME is a marvellous game with bundles of class and race options that give the game an astounding amount of replay value. Coupled with the amazingly interesting lore and map design, ToME draws you in time and again.

This is by far the best video game I have ever played. The depth of the character classes and the effects they have on the gameplay on the higher difficulties is just mindblowing. The more you play Tales of Maj'Eyal, the more you will appreciate its tactical genius. There are around 33 unique classes which all have their own playstyle and will leave a different taste for the player. By its nature, it is a one-life game, a roguelike, yet you may choose to have several of infinite lives as well. There are 5 difficulties for the game and 2-3 official campaigns. The main campaign on the 4th difficulty (Insane Difficulty) is what I would consider the real way to play the game. You will have to read and think before you set forth into this dangerous world. The game provides you everything you need to win on almost every class. The learning curve is very, very high. I have been playing for 11 years and still have not won a game on the 5th difficulty. But I can see how it could be done. The game has an online chat feature, everyone on the chat loves the game and will try to help the new players anyway they can. The main moderator Moasseman is online almost 24/7. The game's take on the "Turn-based" system is a fluid one. You can increase your speed in various ways. The game is far from perfect, but it is still the best Tactical Tile and Turn Based Roguelike you will ever find. The universe of Maj'Eyal have a rather different approach to magic. The natural forces and magical forces are supposed to be counter-effecting each other in this universe. There are many secrets to be found, lore to be read all around the game. As far as I know, there are 3 optional end-game bosses as well. One of them is hidden so well... All in all, Tales of Maj'Eyal is a timeless classic for me. There will never be another rogue game which touched my heart as much as this masterpiece genius game. I truly hope that the developer of the game our beloved Darkgod will find his way through the hardships of the real world and join us once again. All hail ToME.

This game is an amazing turned based RPG. It took me some times to acclimate to graphics, and to learn the basics. Already 500 hours played. Awesome !

Verdict: Ok game, for what it tries to be. ToME is all about character-building and fantasy combat. It delivers well enough on the first account, with interesting choises and hard priorities. The combat becomes repetitive after a while, but it's ok until it gets booring. ToME does not deliver an enganging story, personalities or anything of interest beyond combat and character-building. Nor does it attempt to.

Tales of Maj'Eyal is tedious, repetitive, clunky, and bloated as a game, feeling as if it is barely held together by sloppy stitches. It is also visually an atrocity with an average plot. However, it makes up for this by presenting an enormous amount of long term strategic content and options to players, allowing for serious sessions of pondering and theorizing about optimization, values, and synergies. Overall, Tales of Maj'Eyal can be a magical experience at times, but all of its appeal is encompassed by the long term strategizing and not the short term tactical rewards.

Terribly boring. You will spend the overwhelming majority of play time wandering around the proceduraly generated floors fighting trash mobs. Because you can rest to full stats after every combat with no penalty there is no danger in these fights. The only fun comes when the RNG throws a mini boss at you. When newbies complain about this on the forums, they are advised by the players to turn on auto-explore and only take manual control of their character when a boss shows up. In other words, the game is so boring that even the dedicated players don't actually play it.

The Game Is Too Spooky! There's Too Many Skeletons, Creepy Crawlies and ect! :Screams with Spirit Escaping Soul: The Game Reveals Itself Similar To An Dark Period. Not worth myself playing.
