Syder Arcade HD is a no-nonsense shooter in space that makes for some truly intensely satisfying action. Not only brawn, but also some strategy to the mayhem, as it introduces different directions to travel and enemies that move in a bit random.

The developers have woven in a great sense of humour and an almost excessive amount of love. Fans of the genre should be making it their mission to play this game, which is a steal at 69p on the App Store.

Syder Arcade was an extremely enjoyable shooter on PC, and this iOS version is even better thanks to precise controls and a terrific price.

It’s hard for me to say anything too bad about the game, nor anything that’s especially effusive in praise. Syder Arcade just exists as it is, a retro-styled shoot ’em up that wants to let players destroy waves of enemies, unleash special abilities, and just have some mindless fun for a little while. That’s perfectly fine! It’s not a game of the year candidate, but it’s something those who download it and check it out will enjoy.

Syder Arcade HD is a good choice for shoot’em up lovers, offering at the same time interesting variations and innovations that make it accessible even to the less trained.

A focused, thoroughly enjoyable - if somewhat shallow - take on the classic side-scrolling shooter.
