Very good game, you won't be bored unless you get lost, but for that you have a guide, you know, I don't understand the notes of this game from the media, it could easily be an 8.3 because it has good mechanics or skills, a non-cannon but original and exciting surprises you because you have to be a fan of Sao, but it is a good game, one of the best in the saga. My final grade is an 8.4

The game is good but unfortunately it will give you a male voice in the main dialogue if you have a female and characters also call you a boy if you picked a female character. The devs were expecting you to play as the main protagonist from SAO and not someone different.

Without a doubt the best game of the franchise, it fights with its own complexity and very refined.

First and foremost, this is a grind/filler game made for Sword Art Online fans. So if you don't like generic RPG grinds or filler story content in your shows, then look elsewhere. The main story is basic and contains roughly 30 minutes worth of content (stretched over 40 hours). It deals with a mysterious NPC, who quickly becomes un-mysterious, and the origins of Sword Art Online. Without spoiling anything, the story starts out relatively interesting, but quickly loses steam and ends with a generic whimper where very little is accomplished or learned. Though some might like that this takes the Persona 5 route for its main plot, meaning that your young protagonists know more and are much more capable than the actual developers of the game or the institutions in place that regulate games. Note that the entirety of the game takes place within the game world and you don't interact with any of the characters in real life (which is disappointing). Besides the main story, you get lots of filler content dealing with the Sword Art Online characters. Well, the female characters at least. It becomes quickly apparent that this is a harem game. Even though you have a wife, you spend loads of time with all of the girls, with your wife generally having equal importance. I'm not opposed to harems, and actually had a bit of fun romancing all of the girls. Though I was disappointed when I reached the limit of the romance system: there's simply not much there. To summarize, you talk to a girl at a date spot and say "yes" or "no" to her statements. If she likes your answers, you can hold her hand, carry her, and take you to your bed, where nothing happens (besides more talking). There's other actions you can take, like "stroke hair" and "kiss," but these don't physically do anything and the girl just has a canned response for each. The most you get out of the romancing system is the ability to give the girls equipment and a single not-very-risque picture for each girl after you take them to bed. The rest of the story involves visual-novel events where you go on quests, cook/eat food, or just talk to the girls. These are self-contained and have no affect on the actual gameplay. It was disappointing when the characters talked about going on interesting quests with strange mechanics and rewards, and not actually being able to do that myself in-game. The contents of these story segments is simply filler. Half of them are about doing random daily things as friends with no intellectual depth (save for one or two, which try to be meaningful, but don't quite nail it). The other half are about putting the girls in precarious situations to give you a reason to ogle/touch their bodies/breasts/panties. And of course, there's bath scenes, swimsuits scenes, wet clothes scenes, and white stuff sprayed all over the girls' faces scenes. They're all visually mild, so you'll need to use your imagination. The game's playable section consists of one town and about five monster-filled zones. The town is mostly useless. I spent my time there looking for girls I needed to start events with and going to the quest board. There's simply nothing else useful in the town, including the shops, which sell gear that's much worse than what you can find in the zones. I was quite pleased when I went to the first non-town zone to fight monsters. It was interesting and full of good loot. But I quickly realized that all other zones were identical. Besides the look of the zone and monster types, all zones are set up the same: Monsters, chests, and events(to kill monsters) are spread out evenly. Your only goal is to get to the next teleport stone. There's little sense of this being a real world, and if this were an actual MMO, players would quickly get bored of its monotony. Quests are junk. These are actual fetch quests with no exposition. There's no guy who needs certain items or certain monsters killed so that he can do some thing (outside of the visual novel sections). You simply need to kill monsters or pick up items and turn them in. This is the closest I've been to a spreadsheet/checklist game. But at least quests aren't required. You can just pick them all up, and if you complete one by chance, then great. There's a lot of variety in the combat, with loads of different skills and weapon types, but there's no reason to use any of it. I was able to easily get through the game using 1h swords and a single attack skill. Bosses are especially silly since there's a lot of buildup and strategy planning for each, but they can be killed by simply standing in their face and repeating your basic attack. I liked the Sword Art Online anime, but this video game representation of it is no where near as good. With loads of filler story content that has no impact on the gameplay, meaningless monster grinding, and an incredibly basic world and gameplay mechanics, this is a below-average game at best.

Game is very well made and easy to pick up if you have ever played an RPG with depth before. Cut scenes may run a little long at times, but the world is big and full of things to collect and fight. Just don't expect tons of quests as most are narrative and reward nothing but progression in the story.

What i like of this game is its soul, how characters interact with each other, how they talk but other than that Bandai Namco really needs to improve how they make their games. This way of storytelling is the same I see on Saint Seiya Soldiers soul and it is not that great, you can do better, maybe you think it is fine because this game is also for portable but believe me, it is not. Because of my love for the franchise I give this a 7 but in reality this game can be a 4.

This game is just very clunky, and confusing. Hard to know what skills you are picking, and hard to know where you are suppose to go. There is nothing fun to be enjoyed here unless you are a real hardcore fan of the anime.

Sword art online is probably the best game in the Sword Art Online series to date. That said, the game still unfortunately has flaws that are hard to overlook. The story takes place after the events of SAO (Sword Art Online), in which they were trapped in a game where if they died there, they would die in the real world. The characters from the previous anime and games return and play the SAO again, this time without the risk of death. For the first time in the series, you can make your own character, instead of being Kirito. For once, i was able to enjoy feeling as if i were a part of SAO and its lovable characters. The story is about a strange NPC who gives a strange quest for 1 col. You and the cast find this strange and try to solve the quest, eventually finding out that she is a goddess and she could possibly destroy the entire game if the quest is completed. There is more, but i won't give any more details. The main story left me interested, but it certainly was boring in a lot of parts. It left me aching for the excitement and intensity that i got from the anime. While the story was boring, the combat was amazing. You can pick from many different types of weapons to choose from, all having tons of skills and perks that left me trying out all weapons to see what fit me. However, the skill tree is..... littered. It has so many stats just mushed together, with no tutorial to help me figure it out, that i just gave up and used what i was able to piece together. Enemies were plentiful, bosses were exciting, and there were also tons of extra mini bosses, or NM's, that u could kill for rare weapons or XP. Multiplayer is also a good way to level your character, and you can fight bosses or just farm for items together with your friends. All in all, while this game has some undeniable flaws, its still a solid game. While the story falls short, combat, multiplayer, and extra bosses made me come back time and time again. Its a solid game, just needs a few strong polishes to become a bestseller. 8/10 is my final score. NOTE: this game does have DLC and more are supposed to be released in the future.

The rating I gave it is for hardcore SAO fans. If you love the series, you will love this game. If you haven't watched it, or are impartial to the show, you likely won't be a fan of it. For me, I'm a hardcore SAO fan, so I bought a PS4 just to play this game, and I've loved every minute of it. The pros and cons vary at some points. My biggest con, is that being friendly enough with characters like Klein and Agil is painstakingly painful. You have to just spam the O button enough times, before you can change their basic gear. The second biggest con, is that you have to walk around to every food stand, with every female character, engage in some kind of "romantic" dialogue just to get their trust up high enough to give them better gear. If you want to max out everyone, enjoy the grind. By the way, it's not enjoyable. Pick your waifu. Aside from the biggest cons, I still can't put the controller down. The game basically runs as SAO. Use your skills, and you unlock better skills. You use enough skills of one skill tree enough (or maybe it's just one skill repeatedly, I'm not 100% certain), you can unlock another chain of sword skills for that weapon. There's additional levels of difficulty as well. I thought using a two handed sword, and no potions was the best way to win. It doesn't work like that on higher difficulties. You need to use potions, learn to chain sword skills, get great equipment, etc. The normal difficulty is easy if you ask me. Contrary to what other people have said, the AI does not ****. Normal = easy. Both the opponent and allied AI change. Again, a bit grindy, but you have the opportunity to change your allies behavior by choosing what traits you like, which ones you don't like, and giving them the big ol' thumbs up when they do what you like in battle. Silica used to stand around like a dunce. Now she's always restoring the HP of the tank, and throwing in a sword skill when she can. Why? Because I threw my likes and thumbs up on support skills. Balance out the behavior of your party members, and you'll have a solid party. Just highlight their tendencies, see what the description says, and dislike the ones you don't want, and support the ones you want. The enemy AI gets far more aggressive once you get past "normal". Like I said at the top, if you're an SAO nut, you'll love it. If you're on the fence, maybe wait a bit for prices to drop before trying it. Also, the devs did add free additional content, which is very nice. 9/10 if you're a fan 4-5/10 if you're not, and like some grindy MMO-ish gameplay.

I've played every SAO game that I know of to be released here in America. Is this game worth your time? Is it good for veterans? What about fans? What about the newcomers? Stay for awhile, I'll be the one to answer those questions best I can. Keep in mind that these views are that of someone who has played through the good and bad of every game and beaten every last one I can get my hands on, I can handle these games better than most because I am easily entertained, but you are reading my view on the game so keep that in mind please. Is it for everyone? Okay so I know that SAO is a touchy subject and I'm quite convinced a lot of hate will come to it for being SAO because that's people right? This game is most definitely for fans, if you hate the series then you've got no reason to play this. If you have a passing interest I recommend it though. The Gameplay: Okay I'm starting here because this game could piss a few veterans off. This new combat, rocks. It's the best in the series so far, I find myself actually wanting to fight for once rather than run past everyone this time around and it feels like it would be how the real thing would control. This game has a lot of things to do in town and in the battle zones, which is commendable after the lacking quality of Lost Song. The new dating system is better now so you can finally date Yui, you freak. Or Sinon, because Asuna is dumb. The new skills system is more entertaining as skills can be fired off repeatedly and are gained at a nice and fair rate, once again far better than Lost Song's skills. Graphics: The new monster models are amazing, hands down they are amazing, the bosses in particular are ginormous and awe inspiring, you want to tear down these beasts. As for the character models, you don't really get to have that massive Warhammer 40K armor but the weapons get insane looking. As for animation quality, it's uh... well better than Lost Song. Soundtrack: Forgettable. It works in-game but I'll be damned if I could hum a single track out of context. At least the sword clangs and enemy death noises are satisfying. Warning section: I got the best weapons early game by pure chance, your enjoyment of this game can come down to if you get the Riot Sword and Relfector shield early on or if you get something else. Those two weapons have made the game kind of easy for me, as it is a simple matter of "Oh look, an enemy... DEAD" now. So uh.. if you want to make it hard on yourself, if you get these weapons throw them away like instantaneously. Keeping a level head during this review, Hollow Realization has a lot to offer fans and potential fans, but if you hate the series you aren't going to be convinced, save your money and buy God Eater 2 Rage Burst, otherwise, have at this game, you may like it.

I guess i should preface this by saying i am a bit of a SAO fanboy. Yet that still isnt enough to justify this awful game. The UI and controls got to me right off the bat. There is a reason why i dont play mmos on consoles and that is because those controls just dont work on a controller. Instead of getting a fluid control scheme i got a crappy free to play mmo control scheme that just doesnt work on a controller. Seriously, the little grid palette that you can place skills on kept popping open even without me tapping the touch pad and intefering with what i already had set on my circle button. Combat feels sluggish and not fluid at all like they got lost in that gray area between quasi-mmo and hack and slash combat. And perhaps one od my biggest irks is the overemphasis on the dating sim element and what they hide behind it. You cant change the gear of your party members without raising their affinity level high enough. Really, they hide an integral part of party based rpg combat behind a dating sim game. Ok thatd be fine if the dating sim thing was actually any fun at all. For example, Sinon starts at level 3 for affinity and she was the first one i tried this one. You have to get to level 4 to swap her weapons and level 5 to switch her armor and accesories. I used "fast" method that loops 5 events in your room at the inn in about 8 minute dialougue segements. It was then i endured the most painful 3 hours of my life. Thats right 3 HOURS. 3 god forsaken hours of the same 8 minute dialogue segment in what has to be the one of the most disrespectful minigame ive ever played in my life. Seriously i dont even care for the feminist movement most of the time, but the fact that you can go up to a girl who is in a "normal" mood at level of "friendly", and go straight in to a kiss with no negative consequence at all. You just nod to the rest of her statments and all of a sudden her mood is romantic and that fixed the fact that you seriously overstepped your boundaries and basically sexually harassed your "friend". Keep in mind thats for one person. To be able to change the gear of your entire party you would have to go through almost 10 hours of that awful dating sim, just to swap the gear of your party members. God forbid if you decide to switch up your party members down the road. Ive logged about 20 hours and i have seriously been bored for just about all 20. Still barely have any clue what the hell the main story is about, you just cant justify pacing that slow. I love SAO with all my heart, i really do. But there is no way to justify this awful pile of trash. A game shouldnt bore me 20 hours in, nor should basic mechanics be hiding behind the worlds worst dating sim ever. At least it looks pretty and the skill trees are actually very well thought out. Thats the only thing keeping me from scoring this lower.

Really boring games, fell asleep several times, the only thing good about it is the fighting, even with lots of lag trying to jump! Sure glad I didn't pay full price.

If you like anime, are Japanese or are a Weebo you will probably love this game. Otherwise you will probably find it boring, bland-looking and full of un-fun quests that exist only as a way of slowly levelling up.

A virtual MMORPG that sadly replicates the hundreds of by-the-numbers, uninspired MMORPGs available on PC( without the "fun" of playing with other "real" players). Graphics look like PS3 quality and the quests are nothing but tiresome "run around and kill x amount of boring monster x" . This game caters to the Japanese and weebo market where anything that involves mostly female characters drawn in the typical anime style means a game is awesome. 4/10

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is aptly name because I realized that it wasnt at all hollow. This game has so much to do, and for fans of the series, you will absolutely love it. The art is crisp, and the story, while not all it could be, kept me engaged. The MMORPG simulator motif here works, and it has just as much wit and humor as the anime its based off of. The soundtrack sounds exactly as it should, and the character customization was fun as well, all in all a worthwhile game
