Fire Emblem meets gundam? This game is pretty legit, the voice acting is slightly lackluster, and the music tracks didnt have me bopping, but the story is amazingly compelling, the gameplay is surprisingly in depth, and yodaka is my favorite character by far. If you dont like reading, dont play this game its 50% Reading. If you are a fan of the Utawarerumono series, this game is right up your alley

Im absolutely loving this game. NIS America did a great job witht he localization. Joe Zeiga and the other Voice actors did a marvelous job bringing the characters to life, the sound, the ambience, the gameplay, all of it is supurb. So far it is an easy trophy hunter game as well. Definately worth the 50$

This game was made with love, and youcan tell. if you played the original demo, and then the new demo, and now the actual game you can see alot of improvements, this will be referenced in mech games to come, the only downfall is that missions get repetitive but you may be willing to over look it with all the customization, and an interesting story

After playing through all 4 endings, I can see the appeal of Edlegards more and more Tje Golden Deer ending was cathartic, it was nice, as the ending didnt have alot to do with the turmoil centered around the other 3 The Blue Kions ending was great, as Dimitri was best boi The Church route, was cliche honestly, and while it was powerful, it didnt touch me the way the others did, But the way that Edelgard was written, the way the war played out, how everyone was fleshed out, It felt great. You can tell this was probably supposed to be the big ending, I do wish Dimitri did live, but thats the beauty of this game; Its written froma human standpoint. Not everyone will live. Every other Fire emblem was cliche, in the sense that you just battle and battle, the ramifications of war really never showed unless you lost a unit, but here, youre grown to all the units, you bond with them, and then in the second part, you are forced to fight and kill them

if you go in knowing that smash isnt like Horizon, Persona, or any game that you will sit down for hours to play, then you will see the majesty in the game, while the story mode is repetitive and the other modes are not as fun as previous installments, you can tell the team put their heart into the game, with how beautiful the graphics are, how smooth the gameplay is, how well the characters control. it is amazing and i love it.

This game is super beautiful. It really rejuvenates the old school JRPG vibe that the 90s brought us, it is significantly better than I am Setsuna, and while still flawed, playing it on the go, and being able to pick up ad play and put down at any time really keeps the story alive.

Fans of the Legends of heroes series will love this. Falcom loooked to differ itself and show they can make other games, and while they can, the influence of the LoH games are here. It is smooth and plays well, but it suffers from a long start time, and it takes a while to really get going. If you have the fortitude to deal with the grinding beginning the intermediate and ending will be well worth it

Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon9
Oct 24, 2017
This game will probably be the first obscure JRPG in a long line of many on the Switch. How does it live up? decent. Not mind blowing but it is a glorious game worth the money. The story is a little cut and dry, but It is still charming and cute, the voice acting is done well, and the music is really beautiful. Much like the First one, the mechanics are all the same, hack and slash combo into waves of weaker enemies. Similiar to Mosou style games. Docked it plays super smooth, the HD rendering looks wonderful, undocked I noticed it is a little slower but nothing super noteworthy, and you only notice it if youve been playing docked for a while. I am not a fan of the baby faced models and the Environments, while pretty, look pretty cheap. Over all, Id say the biggest problem this game faces, is that it comes out 3 days before the most anticipated game on the Switch comes out, and so people are going to more than likely spend their money on Mario Odyssey . But for those of you looking for a fun cliche and quirky JRPG this one is definitely going to be for you.

If metacritic let average reviewers give 81-89 like the "Critics" It would be about an 8.3. Do not be discouraged by what the Critics reviewed. This is an ingenious combination of CCG tactics and Board game fun. Its a game that you can pick up, play for 5 minutes or 5 hours, and resume later without a feeling of "what just happened" It is not the most graphically intense, and its musical score is good but not remarkable. It falls alot into that niche JRPG genre that the 3ds has become known for. I love the multiplayer aspect fo the game, and the games do not go on to long. definately worth the money

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth10
Sep 11, 2017
If you are playing Mask of Truth, it is probably because you were entranced by Mask of Deception, and I can honestly say to anyone on the fence: do it. If you dont like Slice of life fr the first half, watch the anime, itll be quicker, but for those looking for almost 100 hours of living in another world, feeling the whole story, and having the cathartic feeling when it ends, I recommend the whole series. I hate visual novels. I dont like reading my video games, and you dont really rate the novel on its gameplay, because it is focusing more on telling a story. I picked up Mask of Deception because it was sold to me as an SRPG. I played it and got tired of it for a while, on a whim I picked it up, and Once i finished the first few battles, I fell in love with the cast, the characters, the story, the music, the whole damn thing. It was such a fresh experience. Even the beginning which is almost all slice of life, felt engaging. The music and the writing really made you feel like you were there. When the story finally picks up though, you feel the rush coming, when the climax is at the peak, it leaves you wanting more, and that is where Mask of Truth picks up. It maintains the same music, and style of writing, which is perfect, but more of the story is shown, and It has all sorts of plot twist and turns, and each character death really made me feel something, whether it was a guy I hated, or someone i loved. I teared up multiple times during this game. Suara, (the singer of most of the vocals) does a great job on these games, in fact she also did the songs for the Anime as well. I highly recommend anyone who likes a fantasy style atmosphere in their anime. If you are playing this just for the SRPG elements, I would say shy away from it unless you love a good story, the battles are few and far between, but I didnt play Mask of Truth for the gameplay, I wanted to finish the story, and as this is the onyl way to see the sequel in a non manga form, I gladly shelled out the money to finish my story with Haku and Kuon. I honestly feel empty and happy at the same time, It is one of those games that you want to forget so you can do it all again. It reminds us of why we are only human, and that nothing is perfect.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle10
Aug 29, 2017
When you think "MArio rabbids" crossover there usually isnt a good image there, however the Big N and the big U brought us this masterpiece ****. Considering Nintendo let someone else work with their star mascot, you know this had to have the most precise quality available. In short: this is a quirky XCOM style turn based RPG that has the same mechanics that you would expect with the gimmics of the mario and rabbids franchise. The creators poured their heart into this and you can tell. Everything feels fleshed out and smooth. the composers did a wonderful job on the soundtrack, and ion a system, that at the time of this review, only had Disgaea 5 as another RPG, this is a very welcome addition to the system, and a game i will recommend right along with Breath of the Wild as a system seller.

Jul 25, 2017
Fate/Extella on the Switch was one of those curve ball games we got that we didnt expect. I honestly am enthusiastic about the game. I got it on the Vita for portability, but playing it on the Switch feels so much smoother. Everything you would expect from a Mosou style dynasty warriors game is there, with the epic servants, wonderful soundtrack, and colorful dialogue, however if you are not a fan of the series, or anime, I would say refrain from this game, The gameplay can be clunky, and it does get repetitive, but as a fan of the Fate series, I was able to look over this, those whom are not, may not be able to do so. As a fan of the series, Its a solid 8 for me, but for those who are not, I would say a 6. It is still fun and vibrant, but you may not like the anime tropes invovled

I was honestly contemplating on skipping out on Splatoon 2. Dont get me wrong, I love my switch, but I felt Splatoon 2 would be to similar to the first game, but maybe thats not a bad thing. What got me hooked in was the Splatfest. I decided, I was bored and would give it a shot, and I was inked. I absolutely loved it, It is smooth, the game feels wonderful, it is a beautiful 1080p at 60 fps, I didnt have any frame drops, and lets face it Pearl/Marina> Callie/Marie. All in all, if you liked the first Splatoon, I would for sure pick this up

If you can get past all of the cutscenes and some voice acting, you actually have a solid action RPG game. It was an enduring tale and plight. The story and sounds are so well done that I would scored this higher if not for the abysmally long cutscenes. The gameplay is where the game does great, and it may not feel like the old valkyria games, but if you take off the nostalgia glasses, this is worth the 40$

It is so amazing to be playing another tales game. Coming off zestiria with tempered expectations, i was blown away by how amazing this was. They truly outdid theirselves with Berseria. Each character is fleshed out, and the soundtrack really set the aumbiance. Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star8
Jan 17, 2017
For a vita game, this looks amazingly well done. (Vita games usually look good but this is really something else) The hack and slash is fluid, there is almost never any frame rate drops or issues with gameplay. the soundstrack is catchy, and as a fan of the fate series, this really spices things up. Its nice being able to summon favorites like Alexander and saber, and new bloods like nero. I really enjoy this game, and its fun bringing this with me. It does get repetitive but almost all hack and slash games do, but Iwill keep coming back to this one for a while.

Dec 20, 2016
Shantae is back again! And it is just as fun as it used to be. Shantae returns in this sequel in the same form as the other games:With belly dancing, and hair whipping. The combat is fluid, and it feels very responsive. As we watch her whip, we watch her eigh neigh as she transforms into other entities to do battle and explore. The metroidvania element is not as prominent here, but it is there. The game replaces dungeons with extremely long levels and it was always vibrant and colorful. for 30$ this was well worth the buy

Nov 23, 2016
This game honestly was a huge surprise for me. I was honestly contemplating for a while before picking it up, but it went on sale and thus I gave it a try, and honestly this is my new favorite shooter on the ps4. The ps4 already has a good line up of shooter (Battlefield, CoD, Overwatch, etc) but the one thing many of them dont do is PvE (player vs environment) and thats what this is effectively. Think Zombie mode in CoD with much bigger waves, and a lot more variety. You have a perk system fr each class but even if you choose the gunslinger class, you can still get weapons from other classes in the trader, youre not locked in. You have so many options, and the heavy metal soundtrack when playing is glorious, well worth the buy

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is aptly name because I realized that it wasnt at all hollow. This game has so much to do, and for fans of the series, you will absolutely love it. The art is crisp, and the story, while not all it could be, kept me engaged. The MMORPG simulator motif here works, and it has just as much wit and humor as the anime its based off of. You know, I honestly was not going to pick up this game, I love Skyrim, but 60$ for a remastered game ina w orld where remasters are usually 20, seemed overdone even with all the DLC, but I found it preowned at gamestop so i picked it up just to give it a shot, and honestly its everything i remember Skyrim to be, its grandiose, its spectacular, its glorious, its not worth the 60$ for a nostalgia trip. yes the game does have some better graphics but the character models are outdated still, the aspects of the glitches are still there, and the game itself is nothing new. There is nothing new added on. For those new to the game, yes get it for sure its marvelous, but those looking for the nostalgia, its not worth it. Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness8
Sep 16, 2016
I am not usually a fan of visual novels, unless it is like the Ace Attorney series, with alot of interaction, however Psycho Pass Manditory Happiness is so well written and well done that you could even use this as an introduction to the series and still be caught up. The caharacters are just as fleshed out in the game, as they are in the anime, and even the new characters feel like they have been there the whole time. The soundtrack is eerily spooky, and for a distopian sci-fi visual novel, the decision system is on par. I picked the vita over the ps4 though, because a visual novel, is an interactive ebook, and this with me on the go is much more enticing

Sep 9, 2016
Where to start with this game. It is glorious. The RPG mechanics are deep, very solid and fluid, and the narrative is highly engaging. The soundtrack is nice and soothing but also really brings on the tone when needed. The story is very long winded, but think of the Lord of the Rings here, it starts off slow, and is broken into three games. The second is out, and the third one is coming out. The narrative of the Legend of heroes games are usually long, but this one is by far my favorite. it is quite worth it

Metroid Prime: Federation Force9
Aug 19, 2016
Hello there and thank you for taking the time to read this review. Metroid Prime Federation force didnt come out of the gate with the best welcoming. Many of the fans, were understandably upset after the vast exploration of the original metroid games were not included here. Also the fact that the last main series metroid game was the love it or hate it "Other M". However I ask that you judge the game for what it is not what you wanted it to be. If you took off the "Metroid Prime" logo, you would still have a solid game. The mechanics are fine tuned for a great solo player experience, but it is designed for friends. And boy did my friends and I have fun playing it. Think of an OVerwatch kind of team composition, with final fantasy tactics or monster hunter type components. You have your healer your tank your defense your aggression and alot of missions, and no two missions are alike. This game is well done wand worth the 40$ if youre willing to put aside the fact its a spin off metriod game

This Game is beautiful. Insomniac's first take on the metroidvania genre really came out well, with a radiant and engrossing soundtrack, well designed and well animated puzzles, and a gripping story, this game was kind of short, and the water physics could use some touch-ups but both were minuscule when thinking about just how beautiful and awesome the art was, and how I just wanted to dive deeper into this game.
