A tough shooter to recommend for the price. [May 2013, p.77]

Not as special as it thinks it is. [Apr 2013, p.89]
A good attempt to bring competitive multiplayer to Xbox LIVE Arcade. With qualities like weapon customization or the possibility to modify every aspect of your character, this game falls short of becoming one prominent example of its genre. Maybe in the future the developers will include more weapons and new maps, but in the mean time this game is fun but doesn't offer anything new.

For those of you yearning for a Rainbow Six Vegas-ish experience, look no further than this $10 gem. Is this game perfect? Of course not. Are the graphics ultra-realistic? No. BUT Does this game deserve the low-ball scores that the critics have given it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. There is something exceedingly likable about STX. The cell-shaded graphics do not make it feel like any less of a military cover shooter, and the camouflage/gear options are nice. Multiplayer matches are easy to find (at least on the west coast) and the variety of customization options and unlocks add a good amount to the entertaining team-based firefights. The game finds an enjoyable balance between the realism of tactical cover-shooters and more casual game types. Generally I lean towards the more realistic games (Operation Flashpoint, etc) but something about this one has really hooked me. You will not see 100,000 players on in any given afternoon, but don't expect this game to disappear any time soon. The community of players is team-oriented and consistent. At a minimum give the demo a shot whether it is your type of game or not, you will have a good time.

I can't believe how critics give this game a 30/100 or even a 50/100, the game is EPIC, for me it's the next TF2, im sure it will, it's simple but sweet.

Overall, I find that this game is enjoyable for what it is, and it’s fair to say that it doesn’t try to be anything else than what it is: essentially only a multiplayer game. It’s a fun one at that, so I do indeed recommend you play it if you’re into this type of gaming.

Special Forces: Team X is an unexpected treat, and on paper, it should have been a lot worse. There are some technical problems, but at the core is a solid game. Whilst it is probably not enough to lure in the hardcore COD or MW fans, it looks like there could be a fan base developing.

There’s a healthy player base right now, but without an active community over the long term, this game is really nothing. There’s enough here to keep players busy for a good long while, and with a few patches here and there, the bugs may be remedied. As of right now, for $15, you get a decent shooter with a solid package and a few problems here and there. Just make sure you have some decent teammates.

For someone looking for a new shooter, Special Forces Team X fits that description. For 15 dollars, the price point is a low enough point of entry that you should feel you’ve gotten what its worth out of it by the time its lack of character becomes all emcompasing. As sad as it is to say, the liberal application of glitter might have gone a long way. Or tanks. Nothing wrong with some tanks.

A classic third person shooter with a fairly good and simple progression system. The problem? It has got critical bugs.

Offers plenty of exciting ideas that could have resulted in a great game, but unfortunately these ideas get lost among the many problems the game has. Zombie Studios should return to the drawing board, adjust the game’s controls and learn how to design good levels. If they do that, Team X 2 might be the game this one fails to be.

Not so much a poor man’s Gears Of War as a tramp’s, which is perhaps why one of the few distinguishing features is playing it with a loyal canine by your side.
