Solar Ash has quickly evolved into one of my favorite games of all time. Where do i start? I mean Rei (Main character) Fits perfectly into the story, and has one of the coolest designs ive seen in a while. The only way i could describe the design is a Girl version of the Dead cells main character. I love the world since it's beautiful and fits the story quite well, it's a intergalactic marvel that never loses personality. SolarAsh has fun platforming, action and movement, everything you do in the game feels fresh but you've always had them, the controls makes it amazing. This game has a premise i've never seen before, the closest i could say would be the move Interstellar. Solar ash is an incredible game that feels like a mix of outer wilds and abzú. 10/10.

It is a beautiful game, just the kind of game I like. The story is great and engaging, the gameplay dynamic, fast-paced and fun. Recommended.

Solar Ash feels more like a mobile game. A fun mobile game, but in terms of mechanics there is nothing particularly too deep here. It feels like it's a game for people, who aren't gamers, yet it's weirdly difficult. However the difficulty is entirely movement and timing based, so there is nothing to get better at, really. The level design is pretty nice and movement is fluid and smooth right until the game starts dropping frames like crazy. Solar Ash is optimized terribly and that really pumps the breaks in an otherwise incredibly fast paced adventure. The bigger issue is, that I got bored by the third area of this type of gameplay. Maybe for people who like to collect stuff this works, but I found the story too abstract and the collectibles uninteresting. Sadly, it outstays its welcome and it's minimal boss fights are too challenging for absolutely no reason.

See, Sega. THIS is how you make an "open zone" momentum based, 3D platformer.

Amazingly fun, exactly what I wanted out of it. If you like movement games you will love this.

First things first: know how it is I would pay between 10-15€ to play this. If you don’t have time to play just play the Pathless, much much better game. If you enjoy the genre and have time play Solar Ash, knowing that this is game is definitely not perfect. it doesn’t control well while traversing the world at times. The character doesn’t do what you want it to do on some ramps, also some guiding orbs that are supposed to be collected while skating are placed a bit oddly, and you end up missing them by just a hair, which can be frustrating. Dying feels like a pretty unremarkable event, you just start from a very close previous checkpoint. And when the checkpoint is not close to the moment you die it feels very annoying to do the sequence and recollect orbs over again. Overall checkpoints are not placed well most of the time, they either feel too forgiving or too annoying. It also suffers from repetitiveness in the first half, but the second half improves in each new area you discover with new obstacles during exploration which you need to be mindful of, more variety in landscapes and more visually impressive bosses. Secondary missions are unfortunately pretty uninteresting. But if you stick to the main game I believe you will appreciate it, despite its very visible defects. Boss fights have an epic feel to it, with massive monsters and the character controls well during battle. Exploration feels meaningful, rewarding you with parts of new suits with individual special powers and orbs to upgrade your health, which feels very useful in battle, sometimes you really don’t want to die again, and you have very few hit points. The plot is told in a very dull way up until the end. The character’s thoughts are worded in a cheesy uninspired way. But the story is essentially interesting, it’s just not conveyed in an optimal way. The ending is pretty satisfying with regard to the plot. Everything is unveiled and the implications behind the final choice can be interesting to dive into in your own moments after the game wraps up. If you are wondering you can just reload easily from just before the point of no return and explore the whole world thoroughly or experience the alternative ending without having to replay the whole game. This game is objectively a 7, but I give it an 8 of encouragement, with a bit more refinement it would have been an impressive 8.

Feels like it was made by amateurs on a shoe string budget. A simple concept stretched out for way too long with no progression. What you do in the first hour is what you'll be doing in the next ten. Full of glitches, camera problem, crashes, wonky platforming, and a story that has a beginning and end with nothing worth while in between. It easily could've just been an email

One of the best works of Annapurna, I really liked the time I spent on this game. 5 hours and felt just like it was enough.Altough it's recommended to play with controller, I played with kbm and loved the **** some issues with FPS in the beginning but they were solved by closing other opened apps.

The stylish art style compliments the flowing and graceful skating gameplay really well. Overall it makes traversal fun and creates some interesting platforming challenges. Gameplay ends up feeling fluid and zones take advantage of being three dimensional spaces. Boss battles are unique and fun. Story is cryptic yet engaging, with an interesting central theme

this game is fun as hell. I don’t particularly care about the story or the dialogue of an atmospheric platformer like this, though i acknowledge that they weren’t the greatest. If you care a lot about the story, then you’re probably not going to like this game. However, if you like interesting art, fun gameplay, and sitting back on the couch on a rainy day to play a nice fun game, then i can’t recommend solar ash enough. I wish it was longer, but I can always just replay it. also echo please stop squishing rei, that is very violent and disrespectful.

Not only does Solar Ash have a unique idea and story, but it also has a beautiful and original world. The combat is fast and exhilarating, always keeping you on your toes. And traversal is top tier. The ending to this game is also one of the best ending I've ever seen in a video game. The twist and beautiful fight at the end was breath taking, with Rei finally learning the truth of her whole journey.

The game has a very good rhythm and sense of style, the visuals are simple but aesthetic, the gameplay is dynamic and fluid and the difficulty feels right.

Pros - Art and environmental design Soundtrack Platforming is well done and has a good challenge to it Interesting characters and lore Boss design is amazing Cons- Had some frame drops and performance issues Rei feels somewhat uneven (bad lines and tonal shifts) Some enemies feel like obstacle courses over a real threat Combat is average at best

I wanted to love this **** I hate it. The art is amazing, but the gameplay is so shallow. Its basically non existant. You run around for a few minutes then fight the boss then repeat.. The boss fights are extremely **** the ice feel of the landscape really interferes with the lots of platform jumping required in Solar Ash

An incredibly enjoyable game that is slightly bogged down by its somewhat annoying dialogue. I recommend playing while around friends or simply focusing on the great gameplay and turning a blind eye to the dialogue as it decidedly isn't the main draw of this game.

The art, animation and imagery that Solar Ash brings to the table is absolutely astounding. With a unique take on gameplay that has a bit more of a focus on platforming rather than combat it reminds me quite a lot of games like The Pathless, and some of the the 3d sonic games, (although it can take a bit of getting used to) moving though the ultravoid is extremely fluid and satisfying. The story is somewhat lightweight, however if you take the time to explore and uncover all of the hidden journals, voidrunner caches, and participate in the side quests you will be met with some very good writing and some very good voice acting that will flesh out the world of solar ash and its genuinely interesting and diverse cast characters. Also the sound design is awesome. It is also important to mention that this is a complete game, that is technically quite sound (minus a few frame drops here and there). it retails for $40 and no part of the game seems to have been sacrificed in the name of greed. Respecting your games integrity and treating games as an artform is sadly something to be praised for in the year 2021.

A worthy successor to Hyper Light Drifter. I only wish there was more of it - I finished it in two days, side quests included. A brilliant, smart, moody game with wonderful traversal, impressive bosses, tight gameplay, and a pervasive atmosphere of melancholy and wonder. A top-tier indie game.
