An innovative idea but very poorly implemented. The controls are terrible and I guess it clicks after some time but I really didn't even enjoy the game to even try to learn the controls.

Unique climbing mechanics, High skill ceiling and a charming artstyle. What else does a platformer Need?

Sumo Digital know how to craft a game, that’s for sure. Lovely visuals, world and music. I feel people have become accustomed to boring tutorials that hold your hand through the first 25 mins of the game. This is some straight-to-the-point challenging action and I love it. Music is fantastic too (David Wise ftw!). Picked it up for less than 4€ on PSN. Quite the steal.

Have you ever wanted a simulator where you climb trees with wet spaghetti, two broken ams and physics no longer work? Well here's the game for you! Worst controls of any game I've ever played in my entire life. They tried to capture the N64 era, but focused on the bad controls and terrible camera. Those games were fun despite those problems not because of them. You can spend way too much time trying to collect things only to have them all reset because you fell into the bottomless pit for the thousandth time. Don't let the cutsie graphics fool you. Frustrating, relentlessly punishing and not fun. Took a chance on this one and it was a huge miss.

The game was enjoyable, but short if you don't try to collect all the collectables. The controls were easy to pick up, leading me to wonder why so many reviewers mention problems with difficult controls and snake movement. The only issue I found that somewhat bothered me, was Noodle's slow movement. All in all, I was glad I purchased it.

Snake Pass is one of, if not, the most innovative game of 2017 and there is a constant pull factor in the game that makes it so great. In Snake Pass, you cannot jump, which can be weird for a plat-former, but works in this case. The physics and controls take a little getting used to but are great once you get the hang of it. I'd say the biggest problem with Snake Pass is the difficulty curve, which starts of extremely easy, but quickly gets harder without much warning. There isn't much of a story to the game, but it's fine without it. Snake Pass is an extremely creative game which shows that plat-formers can certainly work with a different formula.

This game is pure gameplay, with an amazing control system that is so fun to get good at. It's just so unique and such a joy to traverse the environments with. That said, the difficulty, combined with the gaps between checkpoints, is too much for me. Game is insanely hard if you want to try to 100% it. A quicksave, while on solid ground, would make this game so much better so that you don't have to travel all the way to your goal and back again (with just the slightest, slippery mis-calculation ending your life). I think I'm pretty much done with this frustration till, hopefully, a reasonable checkpoint system gets patched in. -edit- Update Oct 2017 - I kept my original review above, but I feel I was a bit harsh on it. I pushed on, and eventually mastered the controls fully. The game is certainly a challenge, but with practice you'll get your head around the controls and then it becomes much more enjoyable. The checkpoint system is fair once you get the hang of things. It really is quite lovely and charming to playthrough, and I ended up being able to 100% the game. Bumped my original score of 6 to an 8.

An incredibly unique 3D platforming experience, Snake Pass will have even the most selective fan of the genre at the very least intrigued at its charm. A good suggestion from many is to not go into this game expecting a traditional experience, but rather a new and exciting one that has been sorely needed in a very stale genre. The learning curve for the controls in this game are very steep, it's not for everyone, so don't feel bad if you can't get over it, it really is hard to control a snake! The music is purposely very reminiscent of 90's platformers and accompanies the style very well. It feels very relaxing to just sit in a world and listen to the tracks. All in all a nice experience that I hope I can revisit in future and I would definitely recommend fans of the 3D plaformer genre visit at least once.

This game is being reviewed way too high by most on here. Is it unique and different for the most part for 2017, yes! But it has lots of issues! Flaws: - The camera is HORRIFYING! There is no way they thought the camera was done correctly. It bounces all over like an old N64 game! - Although I did mention below in my "pros" that the controls are unique, at times they feel.. i guess you could say unbalanced and inaccurate. - Unskippable cutscenes (this was frustrating especially if you replay levels for trophies) Things I did enjoy: - The uniqueness of controlling a snake, though it was frustrating as hell to learn. - The cheerful **** get the point. It was cute. :) I would only recommend getting this for $10 or less. (I would have waited for it to be around $5 on the PS store during a sale had I known I wasn't going to enjoy it as much as I was hoping)

I played a demo of this at EGX 2016. Did have a chat with one of the developers afterwards, and gave an initial opinion of it over to them. At the time, i thought it was a fun, yet different type of puzzle game than i'm used to. So, i saw it on PS Store a few weeks ago for 20% off at pre-order. Decided to give it a go. Controls are certainly something to get used to, but they are fun. You move forward, use the control stick to slither to gain speed and raise your head to start climbing posts and obstacles. Yes, there are only 15 levels in-game. But these levels do pose their own challenges as you attempt to collect everything in each level. They start easy, and then get more challenging as you progress through. And you unlock a time trial mode after completing, which adds more replay-ability to it. Overall, it can be frustrating with the snake controlling, but it's a fun game none the less. Oh, and did i mention that the music is composed by David Wise?

I was extremely scared that this game would be really boring, but NO! holy moly it surprised me. I got the switch version, and playing it on a plane or in bed or in docked mode, it's extremely fun. It's an amazing game to go with zelda, when you need a break, don't go outside, just play Snake Pass!!

Snake Pass Testing your patience Ever think what it would be like to be a snake? Turns out it’s pretty frustrating. Snake Pass is a puzzle platformer snake simulator… You play as noodle accompanied by a bird companion Your only task is to collect the 3 gems spread across the different levels… only problem is it’s a level of posts.. and you gotta get your snake on to climb them… This game doesn’t seem to challenging at first… It isn’t until the 2nd world out of 4 that your realize this games gonna have you throwing things… There are 15 levels total that will all take a variety of different times depending on luck and how quickly you adapt to being a snake… I ultimately never did adapt… Your main mechanics are move forward... go side to side for speed, lift your head up to climb, and grip.. that’s it… The rest Is up to you and physics… The game took me a little less than 4 and a half hours to get through… Each of the worlds are themed after the different elements… earth, which is the intro… here you’ll just be climbing posts.. collecting the blue orbs and gold coins around… Water, which I felts was the hardest of the elements… will introduce the ability to swim under water, this is also where switches are introduced… you’ll be over the collectibles by then because of how frustrating climbing the poles that are now moving becomes with hazards such as spikes underneath… and the punishment of going over the same obstacles when you fall… Fire which is where you have to deal with lava.. A decently quick chapter… And finally air... youre dealing with the wind blowing, ultra frustrating, and this is when your bird friend comes in handy flying you across the different sections… An after you complete all of the levels for a section you unlock a time trial mode for the levels… I personally have no interest in the time trial mode, but the actual campaign is a great challenge that tested my patience for sure… Ultimately I did feel like most deaths were my fault… The camera doesn’t follow you automatically though… So most is the keyword here.. The camera is an issue at times when you can’t see where you snake is pointed thankfully there’s a decent amount of checkpoints around to make it less painful… and you’ll need them. I give Snake Pass a 7.5/10
