This is a mechanically one-dimensional, visually unimpressiv horror-adventure without an interesting cyberpunk world or mean spirits.

Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story offers an interesting Chinese-themed ghost experience and there were moments when I could feel my heart race while trying to escape the deadly spirits chasing me. However, those chills are dulled by excessive backtracking and slow progress — and in the end, those were scarier.

Visually the game has some positives, such as Mei and the cutscenes, but there definitely needs to be some more optimization on the Nintendo Switch to remedy the frame rate drops. I only briefly tried the bonus Yotsuya story, but was promptly killed during my first encounter with a spirit – and I couldn’t be bothered replaying the opening sequence again. If you’re a fan of spooky games and enjoy the classic point-and-click style games of yesteryear, then Sense – A Cyberpunk Ghost Story might be worthy of your time.

terrible. Pretty to look at for 10 minutes, but for newbies and point and click veterans, horror fans, and cyberpunk fans, all experience the negatives of this game in its first arc/chapter. Endless backtracking, the tutorial shows at the very start. Walk by and talk about endless collectables, picking up none of them until the game says its okay. Examine a desk and see documents? Not gonna feel like reading them yet. Have you found an item at one examined location and collected it? Mindlessly check there again later because it hides something else now. Like the cyberpunk aesthetic? Enjoy it for the 10 minute tutorial before we shove you into a dreary looking hotel/ghost house. Like horror elements and this dark spooky aesthetic? Enjoy 1 jump scare if that after over an hour of backtracking endlessly. Every single thing this project tries to do it fails at. I enjoy all four of these things and wanted to share my 4 levels of disappointment.

Not what I was expecting really enjoying the game play and story it looks fantastic I'm actually enjoying it more than cyberpunk I'm addicted to this game and the price was excellent

I'm giving the game an 8 because it's done in the style of old school mystery games with a point and click feel to it. The setting isn't cyberpunk per se outside of the opening sequence and the main characters implants. Other than that it's a pretty good game. I dig this kind of style and artwork so, my bias does show a little bit . As far as the censorship issues and people calling it pornographic they haven't played this game. There is nothing that hasn't been seen before in an M rated game and there is no nudity at all. Revealing outfits yes, nudity none. If you dig old school style mystery ghost stories this game is right up your alley.

Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story has a great atmosphere with an interesting storyline and subplots. The range of influences shown helps make what could have been just another horror game feel truly unique. My only issues were the simplicity of the puzzles and the crashes I encountered. If you can get past that, I truly think you’ll enjoy playing this game.

Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story succeeds as far as a "ghost story" is concerned. It offers up some good and creepy moments to go with some nicely classical point-and-click adventure elements. It struggles as cyberpunk though, failing to engage with the themes that make cyberpunk a distinctive, interesting genre, and proving unable to integrate those cyberpunk elements with the horror. I'm glad I played Sense, but there are too many inconsistencies for it to be something particularly memorable.

Overall, I was left a bit perplexed by my time with Sense. I don’t regret playing it, but I also don’t know that I would go out of my way to play it again. With the story largely told through journal entries and letters that you pick up along the way, and with so many references to folklore I simply had no knowledge of, I was left without a particularly satisfying conclusion.

For a game about spirits, Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story is pretty soulless. A by-the-numbers backtracking horror game in the vein of Clock Tower, it’s structure and content feel lacklustre and a little disappointing if you went in expecting cyberpunk themes.

Not a bad game, and really not worth all the complaints about censorship, as there's nothing within the game that hasn't been seen a million times before, Red Colony released a couple of weeks ago had more big breasted women running around than this, and nothing was said about that. As for the game itself, it's a 2D ghost story, a pretty decent one too, a OK story follows, but I wouldn't really call it a Cyberpunk style game, as only the start of the game is set within the future setting, and with the main characters eye implants, nothing else is futuristic, in fact, it's kinda set within the past, as you're investigating a 100 year old curse, which places the game in 1983.

SummaryA 2.5D horror game inspired by Clock Tower and Fatal Frame, mixing cyberpunk with traditional Cantonese folklore. With careful attention to pacing, atmosphere and storytelling, Sense hopes to return the horror genre to its roots by celebrating visceral horror and the slow, fearful creep of dread.
