Rotwood is doing a whole different thing from other roguelites I’ve been subjected to recently and it’s doing it well. I do feel like the game ratchets up in difficulty once you reach the second major area, at which point a multiplayer approach becomes more advisable, but you can also farm resources in previous areas to upgrade your stuff beyond whatever recommended level a given stage recommends. I still think the industry is oversaturated with roguelites, but Rotwood is one of the good ones.

Rotwood fully embraces a stylized cartoon aesthetic, proving there’s true elegance in simplicity. The combat is punchy and features incredibly responsive handling that feels great in action. With a deep progression system designed for endless replayability and a core story clocking in at around 10 hours, it’s a tight, rewarding experience.

Playing together is tons of fun. Difficulty, complexity, goofiness start off manageable for mostly everyone, and the pace of progress is well connected to advancing player capabilities and understanding. So, you can bruteforce a lot of things through stats - slowly -, or you work out the intricacies of attack canceling and minmaxing. Therefore, you're bound to have a blast whether you are a Sekiro / Hollowknight guy like me or a 'havels armor' only guy like my bro. To whom it may concern: Maybe don't buy it for your little girls if you haven't educated them to git gud.

Absolute banger. If you're playing locally with 2-4 people this game is so much fun. I spent the summer smashing through this with my son and we had a blast. Easy to pick up hard to master. Looking forward to more. Great studio.

A big surprise! Very addictive and fun! Even when playing solo. Character creation is fun, lots of gear, the world is big, you can select any stage after you have completed it to repeat it. Graphics are nice, story is also very ok. I like this game more than other actual roguelikes, etc. Very good! I would love to see a couple of more weapons (there are 5 in total + their variants, but they are really original.) Its like a solid 9, but lets show some extra love

Extremely nice game. Amazing design, good looking and fun fun fun. I Love the multiplayer and singleplayer mode. This game did many things different and just great. I lower the rating from 10 because there is no crossplay and the mathmaking system is not good. You can not join rooms or groups on your level or which are doing things you want to do.

(Early access review so far) As of now I do not see what Rotwood has to offer. This game is well build and fun, sure. But it offers nothing new. Also it does not offer a better implementation of existing mechanics... The fighting in Absolum is just so much more interesting. It can also not come close to the polish, story and content that Hades (2) offers. Maybe if you are completely done with those games you can try this one? I do not know.

Bought this for my daughters (8&11). They became bored very quickly. Too many details. Pacing too slow. Don’t waste your money.
