Prospekt tries to emulate the formula that made Half-Life 2 so great but falls short in its execution. The puzzle elements are forgotten as soon as they are introduced along with the story, which results in a painful experience due to its broken combat design.

Prospekt is tough to recommend. It's a good dosage of classic shooting, but the level design and story leave a lot to be desired. Short and not very interesting experience overall, but revoking pleasant memories.

Using Half-Life’s brand and assets, Prospekt could have been so good. But it comes out as nothing but a dispassionate shooter.

A few good ideas, but Prospekt is hurt by uninspired design and infuriating combat encounters.

With Half-Life 3 a faraway dream, there’s a lot anticipation for anything new related to Valves shooter series. But even if you are desperate for some new life sign from Gordon Freeman: Please avoid Prospekt. It’s a poorly-crafted experience with deeply flawed combat balancing. There are lots of free mods out there that are far better.
