More than a remake, Project-X Light Years is the modern sequel to a great classic that made history and, in addition to being one of the best 'reboots' ever seen for IPs of the past, it is also one of the best side-scrolling shmups released in recent months, competing with Yuzo Koshiro's Earthion for my very own award for the most interesting of the season. Proof, if there was still any need, that we Westerners are also very capable of making excellent games of the genre, even if we don't speak Japanese.

Project X: Light Years serves as both a homage and a lesson in how to breathe new life into classic shooters. It respectfully builds on its Amiga heritage, revises what needed fixing, while preserving the key play systems that made it iconic.

I've been a big fan of this game since its inception. I immediately realized that whoever was developing it was doing it with unparalleled passion and determination. I've played all the shooters of the past, but I've especially invested a lot of time playing Project X. This remake objectively represents an example of incredible quality and attention to detail that you don't typically find in AAA titles. The game includes many settings that allow you to customize your gaming experience, beautiful graphics, and technically I think it's truly perfect! I recommend it to all shooter lovers, and especially if you have a Steam Deck, I think it's a must-buy!

I was very skeptical about the possibility that a small team could make a remake that lived up to the original Project X game. And yet, the facts are there: Project X: Light Years blew me away. Whether in terms of visuals, sound, or gameplay, this game is just monstrously awesome. I play it over and over again without getting tired of it. The levels are perfectly balanced in terms of difficulty—you have to hang in there, but the desire to see more and destroy more enemies is insatiable. Without a doubt, it's one of the best horizontal shoot 'em ups to come out on PC in a long time.

Wow, I backed this on kickstart, as I was a big fan of the original Amiga game.I played the Demo and it made me hopeful that they could deliver an experience close to the original.Well they blew it out the park. Staying faithful to the original, whilst adding enough to make it feel fresh and **** if you love the original, or shooters in general you will not go wrong with this.

Project X Lightyears is a stylish space shooter with that old skool one more try feel to it. Lush graphics and colours with fluid controls and be ready for some epic boss battles. The upgrades keep you coming back for more & the soundtrack rocks with some well done speech effects. I love the original game from the amiga days and this is a great follow on for new and old skool gamers alike

I grew up with an Amiga 500 and upgraded to an Amiga 1200 with CD-Rom Drive which at the time was cutting edge. Played some awesome games on the Amiga and Project X was one of them. I remember when it was fiurst released, the graphics and sound just blew me away. Even though it was stupidly hard, you still loved playing it for how good it looked.I think I could only get to Level 3 on the Amiga game but I will be completing this one for sure! The game is awesome, great shooter, soundtrack and its has different difficulties for everyone. It even has an old school mode, so you can play it just like the Amiga version. Good Luck with that if your going to try it. :) Also the developer is awesome as he is always doing updates and responds to any questions in the forums promptly. If only all developers were like that hey

Project X: Light Years is a remake—or rather a reimagination—of the original, well-known and highly acclaimed Project X, a shoot-’em-up space game released in 1992 by Team17 for Commodore Amiga computers. In my opinion, it’s not just a remake; it’s far more than that. The game features a variety of modes (including the original 1992 experience), a wide range of difficulty levels, and different features that allow both casual and hardcore players to immerse themselves in the fun. Besides the original mode, which might be fairly difficult for an average player, there is also a very accessible modern mode with contemporary mechanics and gameplay solutions that significantly improve and facilitate the experience for present-day players. Project X: Light Years has fantastic graphics with a great art style, while still retaining the spirit and vibe of the original. The soundtrack is a pure masterpiece consisting of a large number of electronic and techno-style music tracks, created with the help of the original musicians, Chris Hülsbeck and Allister Brimble. The game also offers an alternative soundtrack written in a more rock/metal style. The gameplay is amazing, the controls are highly responsive, and the joy of realizing you’re getting better and better after completing each level is simply indescribable. The basic story mode consists of 10 levels, which take about 15–30 hours to complete (depending on a player’s skill and chosen difficulty level). From what I’ve heard, more levels are coming, and new modes are promised by the developer in the future. Either way, the game has a huge replayability value because you can try out new modes and difficulty options and improve your position on global online high score tables assigned to corresponding modes. I must also add that the game’s creator is constantly improving it, staying in close contact with players, listening to their requests and suggestions, and promptly introducing significant improvements to the gameplay. It’s worth appreciating the fact that this game is a work of passion, heart, and full commitment—not driven by profit motives that, unfortunately, dominate much of today’s gaming industry. A must-have for both fans of the original and modern gamers who enjoy great entertainment!
