This is an “MMO lite” game, which means it should be fine for families and kids.

I admit, Disney watching over you to make sure you don't curse is annoying. The quests may be tedious, but this game is made of gold, diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and sapphires compared to the total **** fest it closed for, Club ****face, I mean, uh, Crap ****tin', I mean, Club Penguin

Really awesome, pirates of the Caribbean based, and really fun. The graphics however aren't impressive. The ship battles are super exciting especially when you can get a crew of 3 or more people. Boarding ships and killing the passengers is super fun. The missions are cool and a bit of a variety but some are not great and many are "kill x number of *insert monster here*" Doesn't take long to load things. The ground fighting is fun and there are a variety of weapons and ammo. The controls aren't complicated and are easy to learn. The game has fun features like pvp and pvp ship battles. It has improved over the years as they have added more weapons, ships, and also more things that free players can do, which is always good. there are a few bugs tho, a lot of times npc's disappear and reappear, and they also warp around from time to time. Good overall. 8 out of 10

It won't make anyone want to quit World of Warcraft, but it can be enjoyable enough if you'd like to try out a pirate's life for free.

Although it has a lot of fun parts, they don't fit together as nicely as they could. But the game complements the movies and offers a family-oriented online gaming experience free of charge, although the optional subscription has strong benefits. It just needs a little more time to grow.

Game Revolution
It’s a kinder, gentler MMO - Nerfed PvP, language filters, and all.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online is only good for those who want to feel tangentially connected to the movies. [Feb 2008, p.82]

Lag is a constant problem, with characters and enemies often freezing in their tracks for a few moments before warping ahead to make up for time lost. The in-game visuals don’t impress at all.

It's obvious that Disney created this MMO to milk the last remaining dollars out of the hugely popular Pirates of the Caribbean Series. The movies themselves are excellent, but the **** so much. After playing the game for about three days, all quests and skills are locked up until you buy the subscription. Until you hand over your money Disney only let's you engage in basic ship battles. When that's all an entire MMO is reduced to, it's time to find a new game. Not to mention that it is extremely buggy and not well thought out. Most quests follow the same format of kill a bunch of certain types of enemies then return to the person who gave you the quest. This game either needs more dedication from the makers or shouldn't be a game at all.
