All in all, if you want a quick, and extremely satisfying fix of gorgeous looking shoot'em up, it doesn't get better than Phoenix HD.

One thing is for certain: you'll never get the feeling while playing Phoenix that the screen could use a few more bullets.

While abstract shooters may have a limited appeal, Phoenix by Firi Games is a no-nonsense shooter that challenges players to dive in again and again to reach new heights by beating the odds that are stacked against them.

Phoenix is one of those games that really grows on you the more you play it. I love how it's different each time you play and it captures that same type of magic of classic arcade-style high score games.

I'm guessing the average shmup fan is going to gladly part with the full four dollars.
