New Super Lucky's Tale
Obviously, New Super Lucky’s Tale isn’t about to displace Mario when it comes to being the best 3D platformer the Switch has to offer — but with no word of exaggeration, I wouldn’t put this one too far behind it, either.

The Switch has ended up with what could easily be called the definitive version of this super tale. [Issue #44 – January/February 2020, p. 66]
New Super Lucky's Tale is a charming and well done platformer. The number of moves you have may seem limited, since you learn nothing else in your journey, but the game does a good job of making sure you use all of the moves all of the time. The colorful look is aided by the general charm of the characters to create an experience where you're constantly grinning. It may be easy for genre veterans, and the load times can be annoying, but the short runtime ensures that the game doesn't overstay its welcome.

It's a competent enough kids' game, but that's about it- it's competent. The worst types of Kids' games are the ones that are entirely designed for kids under the age of 7. The reason i say this is because there are games out there that can be played by kids under the age of 7, that are still actual video games.I think **** like Mario Odyssey (Which is very clearly what a large chunk of this game was inspired by). Yes it can be played by kids, they may not be able to beat everything, or truly get how to play Play it, but it still is clearly a blast because it's a better game than this. It's accessible, but it isn't stupid easy- It's colorful and bright, but it can have contrast- It guides you, but doesn't force you to watch a cutscene every single time the slightest change in level design **** Super Lucky's Tale isn't a very good game, but it is a fine enough kids' game. If your kid likes Mario, get him this- especially because it's where they took most of the inspiration and level design from. Even the 2D sections are clearly a Donkey Kong Country copy.I didn't like it- I think this Developer should try something new, don't carbon copy every idea they find from Nintendo, and instead use this game design as a stepping stone to new and fresh ideas.

A great game that is similar in style to Spyro, Kao the kangaroo and more. Go around and collect coins, tail whip enemies and collect all the pages!

New Super Lucky’s Tale is an extremely polished director’s cut of a solid 3D platformer. I loved seeing its final incarnation finally see the light of day. I am glad more people can experience it now, but I do wish Playful would update the other versions, and perhaps even bring it to PS4 to complete the circle. Still, Switch owners looking for a solid, albeit simple platformer have yet another title worth checking out.

New Super Lucky’s Tale is a great platform video game inspired by the most classic titles of the genre, with an artistic section full of color, a fun gameplay and a story interesting enough to encourage us to continue enjoying this adventure.

With tight controls and a good amount of entertaining content for completionists, New Super Lucky’s Tale justifies its $39.99 launch price for genre enthusiasts. But uneven level design holds this adventure back from true greatness. Check out the demo to get a feel for it.

Though it packs plenty of charm and heart, New Super Lucky’s Tale isn't quite ready to be in the leagues of the platforming greats just yet.

Like Super Mario 64 has been the perfect game for the N64 New Super Lucky‘s Tale is a perfect match for Nintendos Switch. Sure, overall it,s made for a younger audience yet it‘s crafted with so much love, great controls and lovely characters, short yet entertaining dialogues that, in my opinion, New Super Lucky’s Tale is a must buy for every Switch owner! Can‘t recommend this enough really. Sidenote: It‘s a great 3D plattformer which feels just as charming as the good old Spyro games.

It's an enjoyable game but it's kinda short and some of the levels are irritating. But I had a lot of fun with it, good time waster

A very solid platformer that I had a lot of fun working my way through. It's incredibly easy but sometimes it's nice to kick back and turn my brain off once in a while. It's a great introduction to the genre for kids, no doubt. Much like Spyro it's very satisfying to run through a level and collect all there is to collect in one go. But with that in mind, Lucky's Tale doesn't offer much in terms of its own identity; really it feels like an amalgamation of all the platformers I grew up playing. There's a little of everything here: Mario, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong, Crash, and the aforementioned Spyro. Lucky wears its inspirations on its sleeve, almost to a fault. It's not very original, but it's still a good time.

Solid platformer if you're itching for that scratch, but it isn't one that anyone will be able to look fondly back in the future.

I loved this game for the first 3 hours I played. The characters are charming, the worlds are beautiful, but then it came time I wanted to play a different game for a little bit. I didn’t see a way to save so I assumed it autosaved, it being a game that’s over 6 hours to play I thought it was a safe assumption. But no when I loaded the game back up I was back at world one with just the clovers I got form beating the tutorial. I didn’t know if this was a glitch or I just closed the game at a game time so I replayed the game and even got the second to last world. Then I spent a bit trying to make sure it would save. I exited though the main menu option and loaded it up again and all seemed well. Then I closed the software to open another game. When I went back to finish the game I was back at the beginning again!!!! I can beat the game in one sitting but at this point, I don’t want too!!!! The last 2 worlds aren’t worth going though the majority of the game for a 3rd time. I wanted to complete this game, but what’s the point if all my data will just be deleted again? It really ruined the game for me.
