NBA 2K27 turns out to be a very polished installment that knows how to listen to its fans. The debut of the NBA 2K HQ app is an excellent tool for managing your MyPLAYER and your team without needing to turn on the console, despite how tricky its face scan can be. On the other hand, the integration of AI and a more refined narrative make its story mode an exciting journey, perfect to enjoy even in co-op.

All in all, NBA 2K27 arrives in top form, delivering yet another rock-solid basketball simulation from Visual Concepts. The new gameplay fundamentals feel well-tuned and effectively integrated into the formula—particularly on the defensive end—while the content updates appear well-designed, despite a few missteps regarding narrative pacing. Ultimately, if you are a basketball fan looking for the best possible game to relive the exploits of legends past and present, this is the title for you.

Very unbalanced, needs so much work. Scoring didn’t need to be this nerfed. The cheesy moves and 99 three needed to go but now the whole thing out of whack. Really bad game.

Loot Level Chill
NBA 2K27 has some good improvements to gameplay that make shots more challenging to make, but it does feel similar to last year when looking at the complete package.

But Why Tho?
NBA 2K27 delivers great on-court basketball in an excellent visual package but still has some work to do off the court. The on-court experience took a real leap… but the off-court modes need to match that energy.

If your goal is to play quick matches, relive the glory days of the NBA, or simply hang out with friends on the court, 2K27 is the best NBA game released in recent years. However, if you want to dive deeper and get your money's worth by fully exploring every mode, you have to grind. Beyond that—whether you choose to grind or pay—the constant "Maybe you should buy some VC?" reminders are annoying in their own right. It feels almost subliminal; even just taking a casual tour of the city seems designed to nudge you toward pulling out your credit card.

At its core, this is still the greatest basketball game of all time. The MNBA parts are so accurate, and even the WNBA stadiums a perfect down to the little details. When you’re playing basketball with a decent player or team, it’s pure poetry. It’s just all the parts that aren’t basketball that are the problem, and it’s getting worse every year. For now, this is a game that I will keep playing for the rest of the year and enjoy. I just don’t know if I can recommend it in good conscience given all the non-basketball nonsense.

It has plenty of good ideas, but doesn’t go far enough to really make them shine as they should. Of course, it doesn’t help that long-running issues and ever-present microtransactions continue to weigh things down. You couldn’t honestly call 2K27 a money-grab because of how many new twists the developers have added, but it feels like 2K has done just enough to bring players back, hoping they’ll continue to spend money on the flagship modes and not notice Dennis Rodman standing in the corner, jacking up airballs from deep.

How they succeeded by making the same gameplay with the same problem but somehow it gets worse every year it's like they don't give a s*** about us ‏i will say though i like the new my career that you can play in different eras or that new story of mp that you can play with your friend in the nba and form a dominate duo but other than that it's the same problems but somehow it's worse than last year

This game isn’t a great representation of basketball. The shooting is really atrocious from last year. 2K only caters to the online community bc the simulation is absolutely horrible. The gameplay is sloppiest it’s ever been & everyone plays Kawhi Leonard defense which is unrealistic & not fun. Wind up doing the same things to score, the alley oops are still the hardest thing to do along with shooting with is dumb asf. I’m hoping a patch could save this game but I doubt it. Alleys shouldn’t be a **** meter. Not everything has to be a meter like wth everyone isn’t trying to be a pro at 2k. Every year your alienating casuals with switching the game up every year and making it much more harder to the point it’s not enjoyable on any difficulty. Oh and you miss a lot of easy dunks and layups if someone is near you but the cpu makes incredible shots. This is the worse 2k in a while and really not fun at all. **** is outrageous you can make a decent game last year then completely **** the bed next year. Shooting is so **** stupid, clearly RNG is in the game with every shot and it’s a hard down to the wire game every game which isn’t realistic. This game **** overall & I’ll play Madden and then GTA before playing this again. At least Madden is less broken but that game **** too. Both EA & 2K are ruining sports gaming year by year.

Tedious, Unforgiving, and No Longer Fun: A Legacy Player’s DisappointmentI’ve been playing NBA 2K since the very first installment on the Sega Dreamcast, but over the last couple of years, the series has lost sight of what made it great: pure gameplay enjoyment. Instead, the game has become an unnecessarily punitive chore. Finishing around the rim is completely broken: It is absurd that draining a contested three-pointer feels more reliable than making a wide-open layup. Watching NBA superstars blow uncontested bunnies right under the basket completely ruins the simulation. Unforgiving shot timing meets terrible netcode: The strict "green-or-miss" timing window is pure agony online. European servers remain awful, with constant, unpredictable latency. It is long overdue for 2K to display opponent ping before jumping into a game instead of forcing us to guess the input delay. Over-tuned and clunky gameplay mechanics: The shot-blocking is completely out of hand this year, turning games into unrealistic block parties. Paired with cheap, magnetized turnovers on routine passes and minor bumps, the flow of the game feels disjointed. Play Now Online is entirely neglected: The standard online head-to-head mode hasn't seen a meaningful update in ages. The division tier system is stale, and there is still no way to see regional win/loss breakdowns or matchmaking statistics. All resources clearly go toward predatory monetization modes while the core competitive experience rots. In attempting to turn every fundamental basketball move into a sweaty, hyper-strict e-sports mechanic, 2K forgot how to make a basketball game genuinely fun. A massive letdown for long-time fans.

This game is a complete waste of money. Its just terrible. They made shooting inconsistent and claimed they “fixed” the defense. I’ve made way more contested shots than I’ve made open shots. It makes no sense. Can’t enjoy playing online due to the extreme latency. I would say 2K fix your game but we all know at this point they don’t care about making a product the community enjoys. They only care about the micro transactions. They always do the opposite of what we want as a community.
