This is a welcome new standard for sports videogames as a whole and with any luck, will generate interest in getting the audio right. There are only so many places left to make it new and NBA 2K13 has crossed another off the list.
This is still a great game, and sports fans will love this, but for those still clinging to NBA 2K11 or 2K12, you'll want to take the plunge if you really need that roster update or desperately want to play as the Dream Team.

There's no need for another basketball game series if the NBA 2K franchise keeps releasing games like this. [Jan 2013, p.74]

The game is a little goofy at times usually a lot but still pretty fun nostalgia does have people glazing there is a lot of flaws like the passing system if your not using icon passing system me personally. I don't wanna have to press that goofy ahh button but also don't wanna throw it to a random guy and miss a easy assist. I also hate how, much the stats matter like. I would like more skill to be in it or something, ****'t a athletic than i can't get a rebound and defense is pretty cheeks and they can't go 1 second without calling a reach in foul even ifit'sa good steal attempt or a turnover like one time I threw a pass and the lane was open but the defender who wasn't facing me used his Spidey senses to detect thati passed it I mean i play on hof and usually get an a+ so I ain't a rager but there is bs but w game

the controls are incredibly frustrating, the teammate rating system is unforgiving, the ai cheats, the difficulty on mycareer starts at pro mode instead of rookie, and the game is devoid of any sort of rewards

With improved graphics, modified and perfected controls, smoother and more numerous animations, an in-depth MyCAREER with endorsements, interviews, and realistic progression, the best soundtrack in NBA 2K history (I could listen to the songs for hours), competent AI, and no rubberbanding and ridiculous shot-making from the CPU in closing moments, NBA 2K13 is definitively the most memorable NBA 2K to date.

NBA 2K13 is a love letter to basketball fans everywhere. 2K Sports continues to impress, resist the urge to rest on its laurels, and produce a fantastic product that innovates in unforeseen ways.

NBA 2K13 has improved gameplay and more variations thanks to the trick stick. The amazing commentary and the atmosphere in the stadiums adds even more realism to the sport.

Point blank: NBA 2K13 is the most impressive sport-based video game I have ever seen. Endless customization options, gameplay modes, and a presentation style so realistic you will swear you are watching the NBA on TNT... this is as close as most of us will ever get to the NBA.

In spite of a lack of competition, Visual Concepts hasn't eased off the brakes. Every year the developer continues to deliver. NBA 2K13 isn't just the best basketball game of the year, it's the best sports game of the year.

NBA 2K13 scores big once again, although it fails to offer little in the way of sweeping changes or innovations. It's still the undisputed daddy of basketball games, but we'd have liked to have seen more ideas being brought to the hardwood.

For the first time since it went from being a good basketball game to a cultural touchstone, it's taken a step backwards. The controls have become far too complex for much of its audience, and there's no one mode that captures your attention as much as the now-absent Jordan and Greatest challenges.

NBA 2K13 is an awesome game! Making your own player going through the NBA Draft and the Rookie Showcase and when your career takes off you get on magazine covers, billboards and get sponsors. This game gets a perfect 10.

I don't play basketball nor do I even watch it, but I bought this game hoping to have something to do, and it somewhat succeeded in that. Although I'm not a huge fan of the game of basketball I did have fun playing this game. It did not last as long as I hoped, but for the time that I was really into it I quite enjoyed it. It takes a revolutionary step in the "Career mode" adding social media, sponsors, and one of my favorites the post game interview. THE VERDICT: I had never bought a NBA game before and I was somewhat satisfied with the purchase. If you enjoy the game of basketball you will probably enjoy this game a little more then I did. And in case you're wondering, I'm more of a hockey person;)

Everything about this game is worse than the last 2 except for the animations. The game does everything except what you want your player to actually do. If you are within 5metres of any player you will get flung like a magnet to them whilst your opponent runs free and rains three's. This even occurs running into your own players which is completely ridiculous and then you'll then get called with a foul when you knock over someone for running into them. It is virtually impossible to play D in my player mode and everything feels completely sluggish and broken compared to the previous games where your player could run fluently around the court and only get glued to players if there was a screen. Expect to get fouled out of the game a lot because steals are now non existent - you will get called every time you reach in hlwever the opponents will be able to steal the ball of you at will with no fouls which is great news for **** jay z layout of the game is terrible - your player stats don't show up in a neat graph anymore but you have to manually scroll down the screen with one stat displayed at a time with a number which is like 40 stats. The soundtrack **** - nearly every song is hip hop and there is absolutely no variety which is just a terrible decision because it gets old fast. The game is also impossible to play on xbox live - especially my player because you now have to sign your player up to 2k servers which basically means every time you click a menu button you'll have to wait about 3 minutes while the game connects to the servers for no reason!!! This game is a piece of junk and all the new ideas like shoe creator are wasted because the gameplay is so bad.

This game is one of the worst 2k games. The players are to over powered online and it's really fake. Centers and power forwards miss rebounds that bounce off their faces. Contact layups are a basic automatic miss. 2k developers better step it up or they're going to lose another customer
