Moonlight Peaks

The demo convinced me Moonlight Peaks was another cosy farming simulator with a supernatural coat of paint. It’s clear now that it’s so much more than that. It’s a world that’s easy to get lost in, full of characters worth getting to know and enough activities that the farm often became the last thing on my mind. 30 hours in, I still don’t feel like I’ve seen everything Moonlight Peaks has to offer, and I have a feeling I won’t be putting it down for quite some time yet.

Even with these minor issues, I found myself eager to return to Moonlight Peaks each and every day. After putting a slightly concerning number of hours into the game for this review, I still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of all the mysteries the town of Moonlight Peaks has to offer. I can safely say I’ll be playing this one long after the ink on my review has dried, and I am pretty confident in recommending this one.

Moonlight Peaks is an impressive farming sim with clear polish and its own aesthetic vision. The characters are well-rounded and worth getting to know, with lots of great dialogue and personality. It’s difficult not to get sucked into the world of the game and find yourself playing for hours on end after promising yourself just one more. This is the first time in a long time that I have been truly impressed by a farming sim, and I certainly can’t wait to spend another night in the town of Moonlight Peaks.

Moonlight Peaks is a charming experience, perfect for those who enjoy relaxed farming, detailed decorating, and towns full of quirky characters, but want something a little different from the usual life sim. Sure, it has room for improvement when it comes to comfort and pacing, but its setting, humor, and supernatural charm make you want to keep coming back, night after night.

Moonlight Peaks won’t redefine the genre in the way Stardew Valley once did, nor does it need to. Instead, it successfully carves out its own moonlit corner by combining familiar mechanics with world-building, charming writing, and an aesthetic that feels wonderfully in tune with today’s love for cozy fantasy and romantasy. Its occasionally overwhelming opening hours prevent it from reaching the very top tier of farming simulators, but once the game settles into its own, it’s remarkably easy to lose yourself in. For anyone who has ever wished their farming simulator came with glowing crops, lovable vampires, and just enough gothic charm to make every evening feel like autumn, Moonlight Peaks is well worth a visit. Just don’t be surprised if your first year feels less like a peaceful moonlit stroll and more like trying to organise a harvest festival planned by an overenthusiastic coven of witches.

Moonlight Peaks is a serviceable farming sim that nails the fundamentals while delivering a delightful Halloween-inspired aesthetic.

While Moonlight Peaks doesn't really do much to challenge the dynamics of the life-sim genre, what Little Chicken has cooked up with this game is entertaining and charming enough to keep you coming back for more. It's familiar and perhaps a bit safe in places, but it works and it gets most of the fundamentals right, and for that matter, Moonlight Peaks is enough of a success in my eyes.

Great game. I love the flavor and everything about it. A lot more fun than some of the other **** clones.

It's a cute game with a lot of fun twists on the Harvest Moon farming sim genre, but the game has been broken since launch. The game has major lag issues and, if you're on a Switch, the "band-aid" for these lag issues will then break your JoyCon functionality. There are also other problems with cutscenes not triggering correctly or festivals not working properly. They've put together a fix for PC, but since Nintendo has all it's own rules there's no telling when fixes will be available for Switch/Switch 2. There should have been a much more rigorous debugging period prior to asking consumers to pay money for the game.

basically a cross game between animal crossing and harvest moon(aka SoS now) pros: the game kept the story going almost everyday so it was refreshing in this aspect. cons: -spells takes **** time to unlock -spells are too weak and useless what's the point if it's can take between 4 to 2 days to use, like growing only 1 crop takes 2 points out of 4 -all you do in this game is farming with rarely any help, or collecting woods/stones so it gets repetitive fast -no manual save so it autosave however it wants, if you missed something you need to act fast and exit the game which takes energy and time since it lags too -some characters talk **** when u talk to them Unprovokedly? how it that charming -you can delete your crops by mistakenly using the wrong tool and there's nothing that can stop that so it's gone forever and money wasted the audience for this game is obviously for farming sim fans, the rest of what they claimed the game is about just for show

A decent game marred by bugs and handheld performance issues. Devs have been slow to respond or acknowledge things that should have been caught prior to launch.
