English : I'm harsh with this one in comparison with the first one. The levels are less surprising and it is even easier than n°1 - which was the big flaw. They tried to go a little bit further with the story and even though it's cute, it's not why I go to this kind of games. Nothing is new and we could have expected more from a second game. French : Je suis dure avec celui-ci car je le compare au 1er. Les niveaux sont moins surprenants et il est encore plus facile, ce qui était déjà le gros défaut du 1. Le studio a essayé de pousser un peu la narration, et même si c'est mignon, ce n'est pas la raison qui me pousse vers ce genre de jeu. Il n'y a rien de nouveau et je pense qu'on pouvait attendre plus d'un 2e.

Fun puzzle game. I did not like this one quite as much as the first, but it was still very good, and still superior to any other mobile game I have played.

A good sequel to the first opus, very similar in all of its qualities, a little piece of art and escape. Being very similar to the first one also means it is less surprising, but it's still a really good mobile game.

Just like the first part, 2 is an equally beautiful looking and sounding production. By putting on headphones, we are able to completely immerse ourselves in the created world, which miraculously deceives our perception with the help of perspective. Unfortunately, we are not happy about it for long, because the developers have prepared several levels that we can complete in an hour. In addition, they are so banal in themselves that they did not pose any challenge to me. Fun can be treated as a one-off experience where you can calm down and relax.

Very short, so I wouldn't pay for it. But gameplay and art style is great, like the first one

It's still a good & beautiful puzzle game. But you can't enter the same river twice. And the sequel lost all the magic for me compared the first game. +The endless level-inside-level animation is mesmerising and cool. +The levels based on concave vs convex illusion also felt fresh. -I don't buy the new story. A kid and a group of elders? Meh. -The fractal drawings at the end of a level felt unintuitive for me. -In general, without a freshness of the first game, this one seemed like a simple puzzle game with some uncool difficulty spikes.

While not quite as good as the first, Monument Valley 2 still has the same usage of beautiful scenery, amazing level design and highly enjoyable puzzles, while also having a powerful story about love and growing up to tie it all together.

The game is spectacular. One needs several tries to admire the beautiful landscapes, richer than the previous version, and enjoy the sound design. Play for the sake of joy and beauty, and let yourself go in those impossible paths. Once again, the soundtrack fits like a glove for each scenario and situation. For ustwo, a true piece of art. Looking forward to the release of the soundtrack and many more maps to enjoy playing.

Monument Valley 2 does not have nearly as many fully realized ideas as the first game, but it still has some originality in the level designs and it certainly has a unique storyline.

Monument Valley 2 is a shameless cashing grabbing project. The first Monument Valley game was already overpraised. It looks too similar to Journey from ThatGameCompany. And the puzzles are easy and predictable in later chapters. However, on mobile platform, Monument Valley was fresh and interesting to its target audience back in 2014. It got overrated pretty easily. Unfortunately, things have changed a lot during the past 3 years. After the original Monument Valley game succeeded, many other puzzle games have come out to mobile platform. Some of them are bad, some are excellent. Hitman Go, for instance, has a better puzzle solving experience. But the design of Monument Valley has been roughly the same. I get bored even before half way through the game. There are some minor changes: the devs add a new character into the new entry, and try to make some emotional impact. But the game never earns it. The story, not sure if can be legitimately called a story, is told by a handful of short oracle-ish sentences . They tried to make it mysterious but ended up being a non-story. The second entry also keeps some bad aspects from the last game. Right after the player launches the game, a prompt says "this game is best played with sound". But just like the first game, the soundtracks are merely some ambient sounds. If I were the dev team and I had no budget for some real music, I would never talk about the sound. The last but not least, the puzzles are too simple, yet again. My overall experience with this game is hallow and unsatisfied. For people who love puzzles, this one is rather dull. For people who eager to new concepts and ideas from a game, this one has zero value of existence. This game is not completely valueless to everyone though. I think it is OK for people who have not played the first game and those who have not play any other games in this genre at all. For myself, I would rather erase my memory of this one. For what it is, Monument Valley 2 is just another generic game.

Monument Valley 2 is a piece of art. Back in 2014 I got to play the first Monument Valley game. I loved the first game. It had some of the most stunning visuals I had seen on the mobile platform. Its game play was also fantastic with its fascinating puzzles. Monument Valley 2 contains all of these awesome elements that the first one had but builds upon them. I loved the game play element with how you control the main character but how your companion follows you. Definitely worth a buy.
