Just because it’s a bad Metroid game doesn’t mean it’s a bad game overall.I think it’s one of those hidden gems that are worth owning on the **** story is pretty cringe, and it feels like the writer never really played the Metroid saga. That said, while some parts feel like filler, there are also some genuinely interesting **** fact that the Federation is portrayed with more depth, instead of being the usual “always the good guys,” is actually a niche and refreshing choice, and I hope they carry that idea forward in the **** story also has some effective horror moments and surprising twists that I hadn’t experienced before. Of course, Samus herself is quite cringe here, but I don’t know—thinking of this as a “younger” Samus kind of saves the game for me.

I guess I’m just an easy to please Metroid fan because I had a blast with this game. Yes it’s very different from the otherMetroid games but it’s definitely worth a play through. The combat is fun, the story and cut scenes are awesome. I couldn’t put it down.

It's a good game with action and a different take on Metroid. Only the controls keep it from being a 10.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT SPOILERS, THERE'S NOTHING WORTH SPOILING. EVERYTHING is bad. Music is generic and unnoticed most of the time as the series' composer was excluded in lieu of a "cinematic" score that is completely forgettable. The one good track in the game (Ridley's Theme) is a remix of an existing song by Kenji Yamamoto. Controls are awful. A single wiimote is insufficient to control a game like this, and leads to the first-person mode being implemented terribly. Someone needed to hit Yoshio Sakamoto upside the head to make him concede on letting players use a nunchuk. Gameplay is the best part in the game in that it's only flawed. The SenseMove mechanic takes all tension out of combat, and the Concentration mechanic ruins item pickups. None of the pickups matter since SenseMove and Concentration make them all redundant. Maybe energy tanks matter because Concentration for health takes a long time? Bleh, this is not enjoyable combat. The finishing moves are the best part of the game and a welcome addition to Samus' kit and character (when the game will let you perform them... >:[ ) The plot is the worst thing I've ever seen. It's a travesty. It's straight-up character assassination for Samus & Adam. Samus accomplishes literally nothing, everything is done by other forces in the plot. The Deleter subplot should be a bigger deal but is ignored (AND THEN DROPPED) without a word. Adam's sacrifice is completely pointless. I could make a lengthy YouTube video essay about Other M's garbage plot, it's literally not worth my time to write paragraphs about its worthlessness. Let me just conclude by saying that Other M is just them giving us Metroid Fusion again... but worse... and it retroactively makes Metroid Fusion worse because all of the plot points have already been done! Samus & Adam now look stupid in that game because they keep getting surprised by all the same **** that JUST happened in the prior game! How did no one notice this??????

Is this supposed to be a "fun" game? It's boring, not as a "real" Metroid game, but even as an action game. Idk why Nintendo didnt make a Metroid Fusion sequel instead of that game...

Seriously underrated game that does not deserve all the hate people give it. As a longtime fan of the series I think this game is top notch when it comes to what I enjoy in a Metroid game. It brought some fresh ideas but also maintains continuity with previous games, utilizes the Wiimote in a clever way without feeling gimmicky, the presentation and cutscenes are jaw-dropping for a Wii title, and although some people may get put off by the voice acting it made sense in this game with the story being told. Overall it is a very fun game and is expertly crafted.

This game is alright, and I think that is mostly all I can say about it. I'm not a fan of the story or the direction they went with for Samus, and the gameplay can feel kind of clunky at the best of time. The game does look great for a Wii game and has some fun moments. But more ofen than not, I found myself wanting to play a different game. If I had one positive about this game, at the very least, it truly is a unique experience from start to finish.

What a catastrophe of game design, storytelling, pacing, music, and enemy design. As a Metroid fan, I was left speechless while playing and finishing it for the first time. Everything from controls to traversal is tedious and boring. I am still baffled how this accident of a video game from a beloved franchise could ever have happened.

Some parts are fun, but its mostly just kind of boring. Kind of disappointing, but not bad. It's a perfectly OK game. The action is fun but dodging is way too overpowered so you just end up spamming dodge and charge shot through the whole game. Also the controls are kind of weird.

Прошёл Metroid other m 2010 года на эмуляторе wii . Люблю метроид, решил ознакомиться с тем что был на wii, так как он показался интересным. Выяснилось, что это самая оригинальная игра серии, так как совмещает и 2D и 3D элементы, основной геймплей он в неком миксе 2D и 3D, но периодически переключаешься в режим стрельбы первого лица (как в метроид прайм, и прицеливание происходит МЫШКОЙ! НА ЭМУЛЯТОРЕ! Очень круто), но отсюда вытекает основная проблема – управление. Так как это эмулятор wii, то большинство людей увидев дрочку с управлением отказались бы даже пробовать, однако я разобрался. В игре есть 3 положения контроллера wii, всех их можно залочить на кнопку, эмулятор это позволяет, но мне кажется, что даже имея у себя тупо реплику контроллера от wii было бы дико неудобно постоянно переключаться во время боя, то на 2D, то на fps, дико неудобно. Большинство людей от такого пианино на клавиатуре ошалели бы, но так как игра консольная (и от нинтенды) то она прощает ошибки, так как сделана для казуалычей. Но сам по себе геймплей очень крутой, всё лучшее что было в метроидах тут присутствует, очень много механик на таймингах и уворотах, от того битвы с боссами ощущаются неиронично чуть ли не как в dark souls. Графоуни и анимация отличные, вполне на уровне ps3. Более того это самый дорогой метроид, сюда вложили нереальное количество бабок, огромное количество дорогущих cgi роликов с полноценной режиссурой, в отличие предыдущих частей, где сюжет выглядел как несколько каких-то строчек + справочный материал где-то в меню (+ мне кажется именно отсюда пошёл каноничный синий облегающий костюм Самус 10/10). Но, так как я уже значительное время играю в игры нинтенды, то замечаю одну крайне негативную тенденцию, по сути, всех их франшиз – конвеерность. Абсолютно все игры нинтендо этим страдают, и очень редко, когда выходят исключения из правил, метроид не одно из них. Какую игру франшиз нинтендо не взять, от части к части они копируют практически всё от механик до сюжета. В каждой части зельды (и в 2d и в 3d) – ты линк, собирай всякую хуйню, которую ты и в предыдущих частях собирал, решай такие же головоломки как и раньше, спасай арийскую принцессу от носатого человека ближневосточной внешности. С метроидом тоже самое – собирай абсолютно всё то же самое что и в предыдущих частях, делай всё тоже самое что в предыдущих частях, сражайся с тем с кем сражался в предыдущих частях. Я к тому, что представьте себе, если бы в гта тебя бы из части в часть кидала твоя латиноамериканская бабища, ты бы шестерил на каких-то хуесосов пока и они бы тебя не кидали, каждый раз открывалась бы недоступная часть города, в конце убивал бы свою бабищу летящую на вертолёте, и так каждый раз. НУ БРЕДИК ЖЕ! Вот только у нинтендо именно так оно и происходит, если играл в одну игру, считай играл практически во все. Однако, как я уже говорил – other m самая оригинальная в серии, к ней это всё относится в меньшей мере, мне прям очень зашло, любителям серии играть обязательно 8/10.

gameplay is fun, as solid 8, but as a metroid fan that story is sacrilegous, Also samus got a boob job between games, no judgement but weird priorities judging shes still recovering from super metroid when this game began

This game does not deserve any hate, sure the metroidvania feeling where you find new abilities through exploration is gone because instead Adam has to allow you, a bounty hunter who is independent by the way, to use your abilities but that is honestly the only flaw in this game that comes to my mind, and looking back at it after so many years, I enjoyed it till the end.

In my opinion, this game is actually quite underrated. Don't get me wrong, there is a LOT wrong with Other M, and if you're looking for a good METROID experience specifically, look elsewhere. HOWEVER, as a standalone game seperated from the rest of the franchise, it's not that bad. The visuals are quite good, the general atmosphere is on point, and the actual gameplay is very fun. It's also quite funny how the worst Metroid game has the best rendition of Ridley's theme.

Despite all the hate, which I can partly understand, because it's not as good as the other Metroid game, I still enjoyed it fully. Making use of another perspective and trying out something new totally caught my interest and I would really like to play another game like this one, but hopefully with a better story.

you choose poorly metroid fusion and metroid dread are two flights up out of the mother and baby section and introduce and respect adam(even if hes just a ai reminder) and samus far better than the thing doing drugs with devil may cry:DMC(3) emo reeboot

Sadly, the game was underrated when it came out. It has good graphics considering the console's limitations. It is a lot of fun playing through the game and it builds up your abilities as you move forward. You'll easily notice how better at the game you are becoming as you progress. When Metroid Dread came out, it reminded me of my old times playing Other M. Do not let others' negative reviews stem you from playing this awesome game.

Excellent game, held off from this game due to the mixed reviews, however after now playing prime 3 and corruption I can say that Other M is the better of the two and remains very much faithful to the original gameplay of Metroid whilst introducing a new modern style, gameplay and story elements which feel grown up and mature compared to many other Wii and Nintendo titles. I believe that many people could not look past the character advancements and changes to Samus from previous games, however the game is intentionally an evolution and coming of age tale of Samus which in fact very much makes sense from a series perspective and is absolutely necessary to understand more about the character. I personally believe that metroid prime tainted the series style, however, looking at the two now in comparison, the controls and gameplay of Other M have aged far better than the cluttered and invasive controls of the nunchuk and wiimote setup of corruption. I am very happy with this game and as somebody who played the original metroid upon release I can say that the series has progressed in a positive way reimagining those corridors and alien invested ships and planets in a way which would be expected on a modern day console and is perhaps one of the best looking games on the Wii. The gameplay elements are fun and with a very decent level of challenge, and the controls work very smoothly and compliment the gameplay rather than hinder your enjoyment. Excellent game overall and would recommend picking up a Wii again for games of this quality.

Holy s**t this game is bad. The narrative and writing are utter trash, Samus Aran gets demoted from a badass, independent bounty hunter to an over-sensitive, baby-crazy, immature girl with daddy issues that's afraid of using powers she already has and that could greatly help her and her mission if they don't get arbitrarily authorized by some dude she doesn't even work for anymore; the control scheme is one of the most asinine I have ever encountered in a video game ; the camera seems to be working for the bad guys; the exploration and powerup-progression aspects that have always been the lifeblood of the Metroid franchise get reduced to almost zero; the music **** ass; the atmosphere is lacking; the level design and pacing is terrible (you take so many pointless little detours just to unlock a door or sth similar); every single little room and hallway is populated with 200 enemies at the minimum; the cutscenes drag on for waaaaaaay too long and can neither be paused nor skipped (you can't even use the home button); I mean, I could go on. I have sometimes seen the cope from people that while this isn't a good Metroid game, it's supposedly still a fun 3D Action game. To which I say: Are you out of your mind? Have you ever even played another 3D Action game in your life? Even Ratchet on the f**king PS2 blows this out of the water by a country mile.

The story and especially the voice acting is so bad, that at times it can be funny. Everyone sounds like they were reading the script at 3 am for the first time while trying to not wake up anyone. The plot sounds interesting, but the way it's told is atrocious. The game doesn't understand "show, don't tell". Instead, the game feels the need to overexplain things through Samus' inner monologue. Furthermore, the character of Samus in this game does not match at all with her character from the other games. This character could have maybe worked better as an origin story, but this game is supposed to take place close to the end of the timeline. On the other hand, the gameplay is at least not that bad. The game is incredibly linear, even when compared to more linear Metroid games, the camera is locked, and the controls are extremely clunky and were probably made by the same people who made the n64 controller. Despite that, there were moments when I thought the game was entertaining, particularly with some boss fights, although I would rather have the gameplay of any other mainline Metroid/Metroid prime game. Furthermore, the game didn't have any major bugs, and the visuals of the prerendered cutscenes looked good.

I played this game when it was released and I remember enjoying it I was around 16 I think. The controls were good when I got used to them and despite many people disliking the story I did enjoy it at the time. I still have this game and will probably play it again soon.

The story ****, Samus' character isn't even right, gameplay is fine though. It's not awful, but does have a lot of issues with it (cringe cutscenes, meh voice direction, graphics aren't that great, etc) but not the worst game ever, although I still wouldn't say it is good either

Atrocious dialog, bad combat and inherits the worst aspects of Fusion. And on top of that it doesn't even matter if you play it, because it just rehashes old plot and characters, literally there is no point on playing it.

Underrated classic. Expanded and upgraded idea from Metroid Fusion. Please, give it try Japanese version of the game, because English localization ruined pheonomenal story by Yoshio Sakamoto. I'm very impressed!

My very first Metroid, and I think that it's a fine game. I like the 3D environment, platforming, challenging gameplay, and focus on the story. I also like how Samus has personality, and talks, which makes her a decent character, instead of a boring silent protagonist.

I loved this game. Battle system is great, so is the story. Samus shows her inner thoughts and connection to the only person she considered family. A scene with Ridley that everyone was **** about makes much more sense when you are mature enough and have enough empathy to understand that child trauma can affect even the toughest bounty hunter in the galaxy. What spoiled it for most players out of Japan was the bad voice acting and localization of the dialogue. (Samus following orders makes much more sense when you get the actual original text) Watch the whole Japanese movie with English subs on YouTube and you will understand. Hope they could make a remaster with the original Japanese audio and text. Such a shame that most people will never give it a chance. One of my favorite takes on Metroid, and something original.

played this when it came out but i picked it up while playing thru all the metroid games before Dread release. This game is a mess, nonsensical plot, cringe voice acting, 2D and prime inspired gameplay but doesn’t achieve any of those aspects well. The only good is the cutscenes but for that i can watch a movie. A joke of a Metroid game, and if we take away al the metroid aspect of the game, we still end up with a pretty bland game.

I honestly thought it was gonna be way worse. The game is fun to play, but still not as good as the prime games. It's voice acting is pure **** and controls are kinda bad. Gameplay is decent however and it is still fun to play. Honestamente pensaba que iba a ser mucho peor. El juego es divertido de jugar, pero no es tan bueno como los de la saga prime. Las voces son bastante malas y los controles casi que tambien. El gameplay es decente y es divertido.

finally a Metroid game where they explain the story with cinematics, so it is much easier to understand the story and that apart it makes it more interesting from the point of view. Its gameplay can divide the community but for someone who likes three dimensions it will be a great experience to play.

Metroid other M is a metroid that has greatly divided fans and will continue to divide over time. However, does a game that doesn't give the fans what they expect make it a bad game ? For me the answer is obviously no. Other M is part of Nintendo's attempt to renew the license, to bring a whole new dimension to it, whether in terms of narration or gameplay, after the success of Metroid Prime. It is therefore extremely confusing to take in hand this game after having played the primes because this last one takes back much more codes of the 2D opuses. It is more linear, less rotor and offers a much more nervous and dynamic gameplay. We are facing a metroid oriented as an action game. In my eyes, this attempt is a success : Samus is handled very well, the gameplay works perfectly : the fights have never been so fluid where the previous opuses (whether 2D or Prime) offered confrontations that were sometimes too soft. The level design is not outdone, it is certainly less labyrinthine but the station on which the events of the game take place offers a very interesting maze to go through tinged with a sinister atmosphere proper to this saga. The bosses are not the most outstanding of the series but Other M offers memorable confrontations with some unexpected surprises. As far as the story is concerned, the developers chose to focus on Samus' story. For me this is not a betrayal of the character, because in this game we play a traumatized Samus following the events of Super Metroid and I think it's a very good choice because we explore facets that were unexploited even though we knew about their existence since Metroid fusion. Unfortunately, some parts of the game are a bit painful, with Samus talking too much sometimes and the plot taking too long to set up some interesting issues. The story itself is not too bad, a bit cliché from time to time but overall it is quite good. On the other hand, apart from Adam and Anthony, the rest of the characters are as uninteresting as possible and absolutely not developed, it's a pity because their deaths have no impact on the player or on the story, but I must say that the traitor who eliminates the traces of the team as we go along participates in the oppressive atmosphere of the game which is quite successful. On the technical level, the game is one of the most beautiful of the Wii, there was a very good job done especially during the cinematics, we regret the colors too dull on the whole game. As far as the OST is concerned, it's a bit of a black spot, I must say, very few striking themes (I'll say globally the one of Ridley, of the end boss, the two musics of the title screen and finally the one of the epilogue), we are far from the rest of the series on this point. In conclusion: an unloved game but nevertheless an excellent action/adventure game and a very good Metroid despite everything. The ninja team brought a new breath to the series with a more agile Samus than ever, the gameplay is very good, the level design is also successful, in short we only regret a scenario and characters poorly mastered, which will however have allowed to flesh out the lore and history of Samus. No, Metroid other M is not a bad game, no it is not the shame of the series and I hope that one day, the fans of this mythical saga still skeptical will give it a second chance.

Controlling SAmus in Other M is like trying to jugle and jerk off at the same time, just don't work.. The first few hours are well balanced and fit the controls, but things soon devolve into a mess of holding control on side to move and also having to point it at the screen to **** also gets crazy with one boss after boss, with no time to even get use to new moves.. I Liked Samus's look and the visuals of the game, but the controls are broken and not at all fun.
