Max: Curse of the Brotherhood is overall a pretty good game, with some fantastic puzzle mechanics and a nice adventure feeling. Unfortunately the game is too basic for its own best, and the moments you will remember are few.

It’s not as fascinating as the touch (or gesture) based predecessor, but it is an interesting mixture of platforming and physics based puzzles nonetheless.

Max The Curse of Brotherhood is a fun and challenging 2.5D platformer that will be able to keep you attached to the pad for its entire duration, despite too many bugs and an unstable framerate.

It's kind of hard to review because there is nothing wrong with it but it's also not a 10. It's a 2D side scrolling puzzle platformer. Not so much mario like, more like if you slowed down Rayman a bit to throw in a few puzzles. It really is all good. Graphics, sound, puzzles gameplay are all great but the game just lacks that something special to make all of those parts come together as a 10/10. I know it is a completely different style of platformer but Tinykin got me pretty excited to keep playing whereas Max doesn't. I think if you are going for a side scroller like this then Gianna Sisters I also found more enjoyable but for free on game pass, it's well worth checking out. I'm not a huge fan of platformers, so a 7 from me could easy go up a point, or 2 for someone who likes the genre. A solid game and if it wasn't on game pass, I think £6-8 would be a fair price. It's a pretty nicely polished game. Credit where it is due, you can do a lot worse than Max Brotherhood.

Great game has the same art style as rad Rodgers and it takes Two I can't see any difference with 360 and xb1 versions oh and I'm still stuck at the collapsed tree section

One of the best games that you can buy for your new Xbox One is an inexpensive download.

A thoroughly entertaining adventure filled with clever and fun puzzles. There’s not a lot of similarities to its predecessor, but since pretty much every change is an improvement, we won’t complain.

My 5 year old loved this game so much. It's a simple, but progressing side-scrolling game. It gets pretty exciting at times and slower with more logic at other times. If you have any kids 5-10, I highly recommend it.

I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. It’s a game full of wonder and magical moments, that while light on actual narrative, still delivers a world that is hard to forget.

While the overall feel of Max: The Curse of Brotherhood might be a bit uneven, it’s well worth checking out for the moments that work.

Visually pleasant, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is a clever platformer with brilliant gameplay mechanics. Even if a few sections can feel a bit frustrating and Max's controls are a bit disappointing, this game offers a good challenge for those who like puzzles. Xbox One owners should definitely have a look at it.

So many moments in The Curse of Brotherhood are hampered by a sense that a square peg is being shoved into a round hole. All of its great ideas are dwarfed by the fact that it doesn’t feel good to play. The game tries to make invoke a sense of creation, but it’s more akin to fumbling in the dark.

The last section of the game, where you guide a spherical object through a series of traps and obstacles, is fantastic. It’s one of the rare times when everything clicked, and it was both challenging and fair. I don’t blame anyone who doesn’t make it that far. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is a game based on a gimmick that simply doesn’t work all that well.

Love the game! Physics may not be perfect, but they're typically consistent and the gameplay is awesome. Brings me back to the old platforming days I've missed with all these fancy-schmancy games. Simple concept, easy to play, great graphics, fun albeit simple story-line. I wish there were more puzzles, but the ones that were there hooked me line and sinker. ***Special added bonus of kid-friendliness as my little ones loved every moment as well and kept wanting to see more no matter how many times I try to repeat a level for no-death ;-)

I just bought Xbox One S after two years brake with consoles, since i sold xbox 360. So i started to play in Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. I spent 4 days to finish this game. I can tell you that was fun but sometimes game frustrated me a lot. Graphic is very nice and cheerful. Level designs are very good and interesting. Game was based on puzzles that you can solve with magic pencil that draw new objects. Unfortunately knob in controller is not sensitive as you expect gonna be, so prepare for many frustrating momments while you will repeat levels couple of times. Because of that i give only 7 points.

All I can really say is thank goodness this is part of the Games with Gold for the Xbox one. While the mechanics are interesting and work for most of the game, when it comes to the final boss battle, they actually hinder your ability to effectively combat Mustachio. And the ending seems a bit rushed and lack luster in my opinion.
