Mars: War Logs

This small studio has done remarkably well, despite limited funds and has presented a sci-fi RPG with a slight cyberpunk mood, that has gathered all the good elements from various genre blockbusters. [June 2013]

We feel it's limited by time and money, but as a game is a good experience, with some good ideas actually well implemented. If you like sci-fi ARPG, and you've already played the big games in the genre, this could be an option worth trying.

Mars: War Logs is really a low cost game. Sold for 20 euros, it delivers a complete adventure with a decent lifetime in spite of many faults. Even knowing that the game was developed on a tight budget, some points are rally hard to accept and the limited budget does not forgive everything. But we have to admit that for this price, we can't ask too much from a recent studio. Mars: War Logs is a small budget game which will entertain you and it's not a bad start, knowing that everything that was advertised is in the game. The promises are kept. We hope a new episode will come out and correct the many flaws of this game in order to provide a more satisfying game experience.

With a higher budget Mars: War Logs might have become a completely different action-RPG, but even so, despite the many limitations and considering the budget price, the final result is more than satisfactory.

Mars is a fairly interesting action RPG with a cheap price on its side, but in all honesty it could do with being even cheaper.

My review in one word: 'meh'! You see a lot of good intentions, but in the end, the team somehow lacked the courage or the resources to execute on them.

With better pacing and a lot more balancing, Mars: War Logs could have been a fresh, satisfying take on BioWare’s proven formula. Its intriguing premise and characters eventually succumb to its broken systems, creating a fiction you’ll hope sooner to finish than completely understand.

Hi there, I relogged in to increase the score from 8 to 10 and rewrite review. From official critics reviews I had my doubts about this game. Once I seen it on Steam for 10$ on weekend's deals I watched YouTube vids and it seemed like something I might be interested in. C'mon it was worth a try for 10$. That was the best ever deal I got off Steam. I mean it. I got almost Triple-A title that seriously have the feel and touch of KOTOR and Mass Effect combined and yet stands out as unique world. Now I got your attention. :-) If the graphics be on latest Crysis level this game would solidly be a Game of the Year. But even with current graphics its great game. This game is really a breath of fresh air among all the crap that is out there in Sci-Fi lately. It aint no Mass Effect or KOTOR but resembles both of these. Not by copying something. Just a feeling like a momentary fragrance of perfume from beautiful woman passing by. That is as close as you can get without huge investments of AAA titles. Very similar in terms of RPG. Graphics are 7 of 10, well may be 8 of 10. After I played it for a while I totally excuse that part especially that it is indie studio and for indie it is real great product. The game itself is enjoyable and keeps you interested. Some say it lacks story... it have hell of a lot better story then Star Trek game that's for sure. Audio not bad and the game itself is not for kids. Quite adult language and other stuff. I liked that too. Got tired of sweet blue puppies and even sweeter stories in video games if you know what I mean. Vast choice of fitting options and dialogues that really matters how you will proceed further. Main character and companion is really decently written and played. Developers managed to create believable world that is actually living around you and change as you proceed through the game. Personally I do recommend this game above all that is out on market. If you loved KOTOR and also into Mass Effect this game is a must have! Developers if you ever read this, please do make more of this kind! Next one I buy full price from Spiders. Thank you very much for this game!

Действия игрового процесса переносят пользователя в тот отрезок времени, когда из-за происшествия космического масштаба, под названием "Смута", ось планет изменилась и связь с Землей была утеряна навсегда. Многие люди бежали в шахты и другие строения, которые спасли от ужасающего космического излучения. Те, кто попал под него, стали быть похожими на мутантов. Монстры если себя крайне агрессивно, видя человека или другой живой объект.

Great game, third person RPG with a very good range of support characters and great voice acting. The story is fun and immersive, the scenario is quite unique.

I can't say that the game is complitly bad, but can't say that is even good in some way either. Just keep in mind that Mars: War Logs released year after MassEffect 3. It's unfair to compare AAA product and Mars: War Logs but both games in same genre so. The game is really short even with all side quests 15hrs enought to beat it. And it feels not only short but incomplete. After finishing the game i still don't get what this game about. Plot is a slice of life without telling a story. I don't know what character i played, what his motivation, what conflict of the game. Looks like devs just cut off couple of chapters. Combat system is kinda woody. You just rool around enemies and hit, roll and hit. If they have wounded you jsut roll on safe distance and you gun. Every thing looks kinda unbalanced, gun is strong, magic is weak, but i guess it is a Spiders curse. Nothing noticible in Mars: War Logs. In 2021 it is just a faceless, dirt rpg from xbox 360 era.

This game simply does not have much going for it. It has a very weak story, uninteresting characters and boring, repetitive environments. The bright spots are the combat (which is pretty fun and challenging), the skill tree (which is done well with a bunch of useful skills) and the crafting of weapons and armor (which is also pretty fun). Other than those few things it was very dull and there was not much reason, if any, to keep playing. Don't waste your time.
