An amazing number of modes, a superb physics engine, a natural learning curve and some exciting multiplayer are all par for the course (sorry, so sorry). To put it succinctly, Nintendo does it again.

If you enjoy a true challenge and great depth in your games then you'll love Mario Golf. If you are an impatient ninny that finds "San Francisco Rush" to be a rewarding challenge then please go buy something else.

Wow! What an excellent game! What's surprising about Mario Golf is just how sophisticated the simulation is. Fans of the real life sport will not be disappointed by Nintendo's cartoon interpretation of it, nor will fans of the Mario games be turned off by the complexity and "just one more time" challenge found on this cartridge.

A classic that aged very well due to the easy to play yet challenging to master mechanics. I remember renting this game multiple times and never getting enough of it, and now that there are other ways to play the game today, it still has that magic element that keeps pulling you back. But in addition to the simple yet highly refined game mechanics, the game does a great job of implementing Nintendo’s charm without making it about gimmicks. The levels have nice little touches of Nintendo without being overbearing like the later games in the series. The music is simple but it works so well with the game. I also like how the game is designed to help you become better by replaying the same courses, which sounds bad, but it’s very rewarding. There are several characters to unlock and several modes to explore, there is a lot to experience here. It’s my favorite in the Mario Golf series and it holds up to the rest of time very well.

A well engineered and attractively presented golf game but not different enough from the others to convert unbelievers.

Probably the best console golf game that's name doesn't start with "Hot Shots"

Enormously fun golfing with a variety of modes to satisfy everyone from the weekend golfer to the maniacal miniature-putthead. You couldn't ask for a better tee time than Mario Golf.

There are two kinds of video-game fans who play golf games: the kind who play hard-core golf simulations and the kind who play everything else. Mario Golf is, amazingly, the kind of golf game that could appeal to both. Anyone who would turn a blind eye to Mario Golf because of its exterior qualities will be missing perhaps the best golf game on a console.

Beautifully conceived and packed chock-full of garish Mario-isms. This is far better than any other golfing effort the N64 has spewed up in the past and we had to wait for the trusty little plumber to prove again just why he's the dog's danglies at almost everything he does.

When it comes to the intricacies that make golf the most loved and frustrating game on the planet, Mario Golf has it all. Challenging, but you will be drawn into it because of the nature of golf and your fear that the "little cartoon game" is mocking you.

It manages to be one of those rare simple-to-learn but hard-to-master games that, for the most part, end up becoming classics. Mario Golf deserves to join them. Despite the game being such fun to play, it's a bit of a shame that the courses stay soundly within the realms of the possible.

This is a great sleeper of a Mario game with an especially great soundtrack. Really simple yet fun to play.

It sure is golf. Although it's fun, that's really it. I prefer Mario Tennis but this game is alright.

I remember playing this on lazy days in with the family. A great multi-player game if you're after a chilled out affair! Never did really enjoy playing it alone though.

Worst golf game I've ever played! And what's even worse, is that "Mario" is not even a character from the start... You have to play against characters to unlock more, and the npc's always gets the best shots etcetera. So winning is impossible..
SummaryForget buying expensive golf gear--Mario brings the game to you. Mario Golf features four complete 18-hole courses, 11 golfers, and precise play control. Create your own golfer and build up his or her experience and skill levels by competing in various tournaments and head-to-head matches. The more you play, the stronger and more accu... Read More
