Lunistice offers an awful lot of excellence for an awfully low price. It's an incredible value even if you were to zip through the whole thing in the span of a single weekend. [Issue #64 – March/April 2023, p. 32]
Given that its seven levels are highly replayable due to all those collectibles, plus a timer that gives you reason to strive for a S-tier run, and you can see why it’s easy to recommend this game.
Lunistice is a throwback to classic 3D platformers of yesteryear. While not particularly innovative, it's hard not to be charmed by its creative designs, incredible score, and frenetic movement.

Gameplay 7/10: Fun and interesting level mechanics, the level design and the way the character controls, is funnily enough, really similar to the Sonic Adventure games, which I find funny. In fact this entire game feels inspired by those games, from the more speed oriented character physics to how the level design encourages shortcuts, it was quite enjoyable when I treated it as if it was speedrun oriented (it also had a timer). However, this game is also a semi-collectathon as the -end of level- rating is completely based not on your speed, but how many collectable Origami cranes you collect. Thing is, when treating this game as if it's a collectathon it instantly feels a lot worse to play thanks to the linear level design demanding a lot of backtracking for that S rank, especially due to the multiple paths that lead you to this game's master collectable required for the True ending. Another huge gripe I have with this game is its camera, hoo boy is it bad. You'll notice in many other 3D platformers that the camera will auto-adjust itself to give the player information on where to head next or keeping the camera straight on the player when you're going through a bend or around a structure. The camera should be more curated to what the game needs the player to see at that point in time and Lunistice completely neglects to do that, which is really bad in such a linear game. Visuals 7/10 :An interesting pixelated low poly 3D model look that is done moderately well but I wish they could have done more with it, especially considering how clean the UI is in comparison, which looks completely out of place. Music 6/10: Solid tracks all around, nothing really caught my ear. Overall 7/10: This game is brought down by baffling ideas and a lack of attention to detail when it comes to player convenience, not to say it's a bad game, it was still a fun game to romp through, but that's about it

An old school 3d platformer that really resembles toree 3d in it's playstyle.

A perfect budget game to pick up if you love PS1 platforming and want another taste of that. It recreates the look and feel expertly. Personally I wished for slightly lower sensitivity in the controls and some of the sound design got on my nerves.

Just picked it up a couple days ago on Switch and I loved it. Platforming is my favorite genre and this scratched an itch I’ve had for a while

The user score for this game is a travesty. It is top tier platforming. Very fast yet responsive and precise platforming. The art style is very charming and the level design and music are great. If you do a casual playthrough it’ll take you 4 hours to beat while completing will tame you around 10-12 hours and it only costs $4.99. Great value for your money!

Lunistice is an expertly designed 3D platform that succeeds at everything it sets out to do. Stages are well designed and replayable, platforming feels tight and responsive, and performance is perfect. Its only significant failing is how quickly it comes to an end, with many of its best ideas feeling underexplored. Lunistice feels like a tease of a hopefully much grander sequel that I can’t wait to play.

What makes Lunistice work is just how spot on the controls are. The gameplay here is very tight, which makes the platforming fun no matter how tough it gets. The stages can get a little long for my liking, but I appreciate how thoughtfully they are designed. You can find some very clever shortcuts if you keep your eyes open and have the guts to try. It’s not the lengthiest of games, but it’s a lot more substantial than most lower-cost 3D platformers on the Switch. If you like the genre, pick it up.

A little harmless platform fun - with a charming retro look and fine controls.

Lunistice provides a wonderful trip back to the golden era of 3D platformers and it features an impressive amount of replay value. It certainly isn't perfect but if you want to enjoy a solid throwback to the PS1 period then definitely give it a go.

This game is just a bliss to play. It has a certain flow that captivates you and the controls feel so intuitive. It doesn't have a story or something like that... But it is artsy the type you could see on PS1 maybe, and if you want to just pick up a game on the spot, it could be addictive. I put some podcasts in the background and I play this with so much focus. Disregard the other bad reviews. I don't know what people are expecting :)

I love this game, the low resolution 3d graphics that are reminiscent of games from the Sega Saturn. It may not be a first-rate 3D platformer, but thanks to its simplicity and price, it's definitely one of the better offerings in the eShop
