I’m impressed with what RGG Studio created here, since Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii experiments with ideas I never thought would be considered for a Like a Dragon game, most notably pirate ships and sea exploration. A 60-year-old Majima still has a lot of tricks up his sleeves, and this game does well to respect his character, too. If this is the send-off to Honolulu before the next Like a Dragon game eventually comes, then this was a great one at that.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii offers a fresh, naval-themed take on the well-established series template, with some enjoyable new additions and some of the series’ greatest hits when it comes to side activities. It’s a pleasure to play as Goro Majima again, even if the story here isn’t as compelling as mainline entries. It’s a must-play for those who already enjoy the series, and offers something different enough to encourage a look from those who don’t (yet).

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii offers a hefty dose of content and undeniably fun gameplay, packed with the over-the-top charm the series is known for. However, it struggles to leave a lasting impression due to a near-absent storyline and a heavy reliance on recycled filler content. While it's still an enjoyable ride for fans looking for lighthearted chaos and mini-game mayhem, it ultimately lacks the narrative depth and originality needed to make it truly memorable.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is one of the strangest spin-offs Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has created, even for a franchise already known for its absurdity. The idea of Goro Majima becoming a pirate captain sounds ridiculous at first, but the game quickly makes it clear that it isn’t trying to reinvent the series. Instead, it aims to deliver a lighter and more chaotic adventure centered around one of its most charismatic characters.Combat returns to the classic real-time brawler system instead of the turn-based gameplay introduced in Like a Dragon 7. Majima can switch between two styles: the fast and aggressive Mad Dog style and the pirate-themed Sea Dog style, which adds swords and firearms. While flashy and entertaining at first, the combat often feels chaotic and lacks depth. Large fights especially tend to devolve into button mashing rather than skillful **** game’s main innovation is its naval system. Majima can recruit crew members, upgrade his ship — the Goromaru — and fight enemy vessels before boarding them for deck battles. It’s a fun idea that fits the game’s tone, but it never becomes as deep or engaging as it could have been, and sailing across the map can sometimes feel slow and repetitive.Visually, the game reuses the engine from Infinite Wealth and delivers a solid presentation. Hawaii remains an enjoyable setting, mixing tourist paradise with the chaotic energy typical of the series. However, the visuals themselves aren’t particularly **** story begins with Majima waking up on an island with no memory of his past. While the premise is amusing, the main narrative ends up being one of the weaker parts of the game. As usual for the franchise, the real highlights are the side stories, filled with bizarre characters and ridiculous situations that swing between comedy and second-hand **** the end, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an uneven but entertaining spin-off. It doesn’t reach the heights of the main entries, but Majima’s charisma and the absurd side content still make it a fun experience for fans of the series.

Im biased and love all these games. I love a spin off game with Majima. Only thing I did not like was the repetitive phrases from characters and the light on the beach seem off but thats minor, perfect game in my opinion.

Jogo maravilhoso, mostrando a prórpia evolução da franquia. Jogabilidade perfeita, embora muitos sempre falaram mal disso na Sega, neste jogo está ainda mais rápida e acertiva.

RGG’s also embraced visual customisation in a more in-depth manner than it ever has before here – not just with your ship, but with putting together custom outfits for Majima that’re mix-and-matchable, rather than rigidly set. You’ll spend most of your time in your getup of choice, ticking off suitably piratey sub-stories and goals in order to recruit new crewmates, as well as hunting down bounty targets pulled from IW’s array of different enemy categories to beef up your bank balance in refreshingly ungrindy chunks.

Pretty slow start for me but as you begin to understand the game's system by the 20th hour it becomes a super consistent experience I recommend that you just enjoy the story until chapter 3 or 4 amd then actually focus on the side content for the best experience
This may not be the biggest rgg game but that's actually something I like about the gaiden style games
Hope you guys keep up the good work for Kiwami 3 dark ties

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii takes time to pick up, but it’s a solid entry in the series. Controlling Goro Majima again is a highlight that fans will enjoy.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii succeeds in making the return trip to Hawaii worthwhile. While smaller than the mainline games, Pirate Yakuza is still loaded with content to provide hours of entertainment beyond the main story campaign. The premise of Goro Majima becoming a swashbuckling captain of a pirate ship after suffering amnesia is a bit contrived, but it does create the environment for a highly-entertaining side story. The story doesn't reach the highs of the best Yakuza/Like a Dragon games, but provides the opportunity for a popular supporting character to take on a starring role. It may not have everything one would get from one of the mainline Like a Dragon entries, but one would be hard-pressed to get more enjoyable content from a spin-off. Pirate Yakuza is a welcome addition to the series. While it may be a shorter story than one would hope for, it isn't lacking in quality.

Propelled by a breezy and often completely bananas treasure-hunting tale, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a delightful spin-off that seamlessly shifts between street thuggery and skulduggery. Majima’s Sea Dog stance is one of the most fun and flexible fighting styles I’ve enjoyed in the series to date – at least in its classic, combo-based form – and I welcomed the challenge of carefully balancing my crew lineup in order to survive the many turbulent naval battles. While its overworld maps feel a little padded out with recycled island settings, Honolulu itself is jammed with unpredictable substories and overhauled activities that meant every moment of shore leave was full of surprises. Absolutely heaving with buried treasures and varied pleasures, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a consistently captivating voyage that kept my timbers shivering whether on land or at sea.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii exemplifies the pure thrill of being a hugely entertaining pirate themed adventure. What it loses in gameplay water depth and broadside storytelling, it makes up for with a streamlined approach to the Yakuza formula, an often times hilarious tone and a willingness to let the player go utterly wild. Goro may not achieve Blackbeard infamy in his pirate antics, but the blast from his cannons causes enough of a splash to make Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii worth a trip to Honolulu.

The beefy spinoff of last year’s Infinite Wealth is an act of cosplay. While most of the pieces that make the long-running series so beloved are there, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio trades in strong writing for pirate pastiche with mixed results. Majima’s nautical adventure is at its best when flashes of memory break through its amnesia, reminding me that there’s more to Like a Dragon than its memeable moments.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has plenty to love. Much like the other like a dragon games Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is full of different activates and mini games. However, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii fails to have the polish of the others in the series. The story doesn't flow as well, the mini games that are original are not as good and the combat gets repetitive. The story feels a bit stretched thin and I found myself skipping much of it just to be done. If the main story had been shorter and the side stories fewer and given an upscale to include voice acting this would have been better. As it is I had a decent time but miss the other like a dragon experiences.

I'm a long time fan having played every Yakuza Game since the first at the time they were released (Japan only entries excluded). But the direction the games are going is just not for me anymore. The focus shift to silliness and mini games takes away from the mature characters and storylines the series was known for. And let's be honest: the main story and especially the ending of the last main title LAD: Infinite Wealth was already rather lacking.
I very much hope for a return to form with the recently announced Project Century since it looks way more mature. But if the ship stays its course (couldn't resist) I'll have to say goodbye to one of my favorite gaming franchises.

The story is terrible and hardly adds anything to 8, the pacing is awful, majima losing his memory didnt lead to anything interesting, The music is fine, The combats better then gaiden but still a far cry from lost judgment, pirate combat is truly terrible, how did they get it that bad? Overall just wait for the next one, this game is slop
Summary Embark on an over-the-top, modern-day pirate adventure with an ex-yakuza, now pirate captain & his crew. Engage in exhilarating combat on land and sea in the hunt for lost memories and treasure.
