I really enjoyed LA Noire on Switch, it has many great attributes, though it's certainly not perfect. I found the gameplay to be somewhat simplistic and perhaps overly forgiving. However the story, performances, music, and commitment to period authenticity went a long way at elevating the somewhat lackluster game elements. The Switch version's visuals are a bit rough, but certainly serviceable. There are a surprising amount of features added to this edition, with motion and even touch control being included. These probably aren't 100% necessary to have, but it's nice that they went through the effort. In the end, the game delivers on the premise of a being a Rockstar-styled Noire detective game, and that's all I really wanted.

I quite liked the game and I think the port is well done generally with minor issues if any, my only problem is the repeating gameplay and the absence of replayability but otherwise a great experience.

I’ve been playing this just for 3 hours and I’m totally sold. How would somebody rate this below 10 baffles me! This is a superb game. Great voicin, narration, visuals, controls, story, etc. I love every aspect about it. It runs amazingly well. The only thing I would say is I would have love more interaction with the NPC’s in the world. The world is so big but most of it is linear. Although is a superb production. I loved it immensely. Haven’t finish it but is already a 10 because everything is perfect already. Totally recommended and yes it’s worth every cent and penny. I want a sequel now! Wow, this is a classic!! Buy on full price buy it on sale!!

One of the smoothest transitions from gameplay to a cutscenes/dialogues. Also, missions sometimes seem very similar

What the hell is wrong with this company? I start the game and the first thing I notice is that for some pointless gimmicky reason they added highly extensive touch controls (and they list those all clearly) but they literally don't list the actual controls you'll use to play the game. Anywhere. All their games are like this. They seem to prioritize flash and cash and and good press over the finer points of the actual experience. I'm so sick of this design philosophy. I'll probably never buy another Rockstar game. The game is fine by the way. It's fun-ish and all, the writing is good except for the massive white washing masquerading as gritty realism, all the while aggressively diluting the pervasiveness of the racism and sexual violence of the original setting (again, all their games do this, which would be fine, but they pretend at an ultra realistic experience while teaching kids false history), but I just can't see clear to give any more cash to a company who thinks so little of us. Not when there are so many devs who actually like gamers and really want to make the world smarter and better. Red dead frustrated me in the same exact way. For example, did you know that probably a full 50% of cowboys were black or Hispanic? And what about the cast of red dead? Now, I'm Not at all blaming them for using white cowboys, but rather for congratulating themselves for adding a black guy and a racist and trying to act like that's realism worth applauding. They weren't doing cowboys in that game, they were doing honkey cowboy movies. That's fine, but that's not how they sell the franchise. At least they called this game "noire" while selling it as super realistic. Different specifics, but the same frustrating feeling of adding features that make for good ads and ignoring features that make for good accessibility and ownership. I mean, FromSoft is notorious for making hard, elitist games, but I always feel like they really care about my experience when i play them. It would take so little to make their games accessible to everyone, most importantly, to actually disabled gamers. Especially for such an incredibly rich dev. To me this is a much bigger sin than putting out a game that needs patching. I mean, Really? Touch controls for driving but no colorblind or dyslexic options? Just saying, it really seems to show some poor priorities.

It looks great on Switch but the gameplay is very “point & clicky.” I don’t feel like I’m investigating scenes. Instead, you walk around environments waiting for investigation prompts to pop up. I’ve tried playing this several times now thinking it’ll be great if I give it another shot. I always come to the same conclusion and bail after the first hours. It’s a shame because I love the concept, pace and visuals.

LA Noire is a great title to pick up if you’re a fan of the Noire genre and a fan of attention to detail and good stories. Seeing it on the switch is a half and half situation. Having it on a mobile console like this, the game has to sacrifice graphics and frame rate, so be prepared to see the game be slow at some times and even a bit disgusting graphics wise. However, it still doesn’t take away the features from the gameplay and story itself. If you’re a hardcore LA Noire fan or a Detective fan, it’s a good thing to pick up on the switch. I wouldn’t really recommend it for any regular gamer as it’s gameplay style can be boring to some and even a bit repetitive.

Final inesperado

L.A. Noire has a cool concept, and the facial animations are impressive to this day, but too much of the gameplay is dull and repetitive. Once you've played a couple of the cases, you'll see that they follow the same pattern. This wouldn't be too much of an issue if the gameplay was fun, but unfortunately, many of the things you do can be boring and tedious. Looking for clues translates to walking around and waiting for an audio cue to tell you what you can interact with. Plus, if you miss something and don't have an Intuition Point (gained from levelling up sometimes) to show you where the missing clues are, you can be walking around aimlessly staring at the floor. Driving isn't particularly fun, and a lot of it can be completely skipped by asking your partner to drive for you. The combat is serviceable, if nothing to write home about. Interrogations are a lot more interesting, mainly because of how well the actors' performances are captured. However, it's often a little too difficult to tell what the protagonist, Cole Phelps, is going to say when choosing from Good Cop, Bad Cop and Accuse. One thing that bugged me is that I noticed a lot of pop in when driving in docked mode. Other than that and a couple of frame rate drops, the performance on Switch is alright. Thankfully, the atmosphere, overarching story and characters keep the game afloat. The flashbacks to WW2 flesh out the story and character motivations. Cole has a personality and ideals, so he's not just another blank slate for players to project their own personalities on to. After all is said and done, L.A. Noire is still a decent game with a good ending. It plays like a detective TV show set in the late 40s, and it's world feels authentic to it's time period - it's just a shame there's not a whole lot to do in it. If you can look past the gameplay being repetitive and unengaging at times, L.A. Noire has an entertaining main narrative that may be enough to have you playing right through to the end.

It's a good game. Good mechanics, good history, there is no side quest as such. Pretty linear but there is so much room for errors. This Switch port it's not very good. Check for price deals.

L.A. Noire is a great game by Rockstar Games but sometimes this game is too realistic, I mean its a Rockstar Game so its amazing for what it is but if you where expecting GTA 5 level of gameplay then i'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Bsdies the glitches, the game wasn't very fun or exciting at all. Rockstar should've taken some notes from Capcom's Phoenix Wright series when it comes to investigation and interrogating suspects in a fun and progressive manner. Essentially when you're interrogating suspects, if you get it wrong (i.e., accuse them and use the wrong evidence to support your accusation) that's it. Too bad, so sad, you'd lose that suspect and you wouldn't e able to use them later when you're interrogating someone else. It's very easy to arrest the criminal without enough evidence and what ends up happening is the criminal gets released due to a lack of evidence and your boss yells at you and you move onto the next crime. Although there aren't massive consequences for failing this investigations, you don't get a sense of satisfaction from successfully solving the case. Again, Rockstar should take notes from Phoenix Wright games, where you have the ability to try again if you make a mistake during interrogations. L.A. Noire on the Switch was incredibly buggy and full of glitches - people's heads were missing or during interrogations there'd be NO options to select form, forcing me to restart the entire game. The game was consistently slow when driving as in the background and the roads would load when you drive. Sometimes I'd be driving on a blank background and then the background would appear later. I bought a physical version of the game, so I'm not sure of a digital version would've helped with this problem but I doubt it. Overall, a very bad experience.

It is quite interesting in the beginning but after 5-6 hours of playing it becomes all the same.

I bought this game over a year ago and didn't enjoy it. I had just finished playing GTA 5 and it really disappointed me that GTA 5 wasn't on the Switch instead. I sold it without giving it a chance. I recently bought it again for £10 ($12-13 or so). I have just completed it. It really is a good game. The story really is good. It didn't really grip me initially but towards the end gets really good. The game play isn't as good as GTA 5 but it is the next best thing on the Switch. The driving isn't too great. The cars feel a bit clunky and heavy, but maybe that is trying to reflect what driving was like back then.

Pros: - Interviewing/interrogating people of interest is enjoyable - Driving around is fun Cons: - Shooting/aiming is horrific - Story is mundane and repetitive - Doesn't hold up on a technical stance (buggy) You'll often find yourself experiencing massive FPS drops and chipped/laggy audio. You'll hear honking horns from cars lagging every time you're out on the street. The game is, as mentioned, very repetitive.

A very good port, and although I played this on the xbox360 originally I've already gone much further on the switch version of the game - it's perfect for those commutes by train. The old problems are still there; combat is stilted and Los Angeles isn't anywhere near as interesting as other free roam cities such as those you find in gta or watch dogs. However the attention to detail of the world, the longevity of the missions and of course the mo-capped facial movements are still outstanding to this day. As other have stated it costs too much for a game this old but then again you can pick it up for less than £20 on ebay. Well worth worth a punt.

Good game. Nice graphics, good soundtrack, nice gameplay. It is however a bit unrefined as all other Rockstar games (never finished a GTA), but I finisehed this one. Probably because it doesn't force you to do so many things, and I'm thinking for example in the helicopter missions of older GTAs, which I had to make a friend complete for me in order to proceed. Side missions are a bit underwhelming and I only did a bunch of them. I ignored them mostly and didn't go back for them after finishing the game. But if you're into detective stuff, this game is one of the best. It has a great story, the mechanics are good even if slightly clumsy but it just makes you want to keep playing. it could have been a little bit less repetitive and the overworld could be more interesting. It is just a boring place this L.A.. At times I thought I would rather not have the overworld at all and just get the rest of the game happening, and more of it. There will be a lot of slowdown sometimes on the switch and it takes too much space (14 GB!) even if you buy the cartridge, which is lame and bad for a system that just has 32 GB of internal memory. Nintendo should just have put a 200 GB microSD card bundled with the system... or a built in decent amount of memory obviously. But hey it's Nintendo and they just wanna make money.

L.A Noire was a pretty fun and interesting game to play. I thought the Switch port ran mostly well, occasional framerate drops but overall the graphics looked really good and the controls were excellent. As for the story and gameplay. I thought, overall, the story was solid and kept me engaged. However, towards the end, the story and missions felt unfinished and very confusing, I think the game could've taken it a bit slower towards the end. The combat and gun-fights were ok but could use some better optimization on Switch controls. Overall, I think L.A Noire was a pretty fun game for anyone interested in shooters or crime.

This game is a decent port but with technical issues. If is your standard Rockstar game that usually never disappoint with its story and gameplay. If you are playing the game with the joy cons for your controller it sometimes doesn't feel that great but if you have a normal controller for the switch the controls feel a lot better. So I would suggest playing the game with a controller if you have one. In some occasions you will notice that the conversations will be out of sync with the characters and you will experience the odd frame rate drop here and there. If this bothers you I would avoid. Overall it is still a decent port and at half the retail price of a normal game personally I think its worth it because I can see past some of the performance flaws since they are not a constant hindrance.

The fact that I am playing the LA Noire remaster on a portable system is mind blowing to me. I bought the game originally when it first came out for Xbox 360 and I really enjoyed playing it then. I am having just as much fun now, only I can play it anywhere! I have been consistently impressed by the prowess of the Switch, and LA Noire hasn't let me down. If you are into detective games or novels, this game will be right up your alley. In addition to the main story, there are about 40 side missions that keep the game feeling fresh. They have also added in optional touch controls, but the game does not force you to use them. The story is excellent, and the characters are believable and likable. If you haven't played this game already then it is a no brainer to pick it up, but if you played it when it first came out (like I did) you can still get a lot of enjoyment out of this title. Like Zelda and Mario Odyssey, this is a console quality game on a portable system, and is a blast to play!

Mystic and dark to perfection. I loveeeee the graphics....almost as good as other platforms, I can really live with that - so awesome to bring my crime scenes in my bag for a murder mystery in the lunch break. After completing Zelda, Mario and Sonic on the Switch I thought I would try something different. L.A Noire. I never played this game first release on any other console and was intrigued to see what the hype was about... Well let me tell you does Rockstar ever make bad games? The answer is no! I'm enjoying my time playing this with the Switch... It's not boring and lot's of fun. RECOMMENDED!

L.A. Noire was a was a very good game last generation that is deserving of a Switch port, but it all falls apart once you see the full on retail price. This is only exacerbated by the fact that you can get the best version on Steam for only $30 with all the DLC (if you wait for a steam sale you can get it for ~$5-10). If you only use consoles, you can get it on Xbox One or PS4 for $40. Why would you pay $10 more for performance issues on the switch due to once again not being properly optimized. At least we know Rockstar is treating the Switch like PC now and not fully optimizing their games on the platform and can plan to avoid them in the future. For a game this old to have performance issues at this price is unacceptable. In before Switch fanboys ignore all of the performance issues and price jumping all over Rockstar's jock because they finally released a mediocre port of an actual good game (Bully and manhunt 2 being the previous ones) on a Nintendo system... Nevermind, too late.

A very fun detective game, now on the go! So far, I haven't had any issues with the game, at least not any major issues. Sometimes it can be a bit hard to read people's faces, a big part of the game, but it's good that it's not too easy. It runs pretty well on the Switch, and it's great for on the go or on the couch. Though you will need to either have subtitles, or listen closely to what people say. This is a pretty great game.

A decent game hindered by terrible performance. There are many points where the game slows down when it can't keep a steady framerate. Controls also feel a bit janky.

The game is fun and it is an improvement over the 360 version i played, it looks great in handheld, its docked mode where the age starts to show. if you haven't played this game before then its a good addition to your switch collection.

This is a well made Switch port. For those of you who don't know this is a detectives games where you play as a police officer solving crimes of different degrees. Graphics are good and sound is good as well. Controls are a bit weird but thats fine i guess.

I've play this game in 2011 on my pc and in 2015 also on the pc, now for the first time i buy it on console and decide to buy it on my Nintendo Switch. The game is still great i love the story, i had a few bugs like lip syncing completly off, but a reset sloved this, Also had an bug with an enemy that didn't run away from me and i couldn't tackle him, so had to restart the mission. The game Graphic-wise is like the Ps3 version but it didn't bother me i love that i can take it with me. Anti-aliasing is really worse, Field of view also not great, you can see object spawning in front of you. You also need an MicroSD of minimum 32GB for the 16GB patch, this wasn't necessary if rockstar didn't cheap-out. great story, 8/10

Picked noire up yesterday which made me put down the Mario and zelda, and I must say this game is all it can be for the switch. I here everyone comparing it to Xbox and ps visuals which has been happening a lot lately with about every game. A lot of people go by these reviews when it comes to purchasing games, it's fair to say with the graphics looking extra crisp and mint and the use of touch screen on the switch put this game rating higher than the other consoles. True port! Great effort.

The reason this game gets a 10 is because there is no 9.5, but it's definitely better than a 9. Always been a fantastic game, but this port is immaculate. 1080p docked, full 720p handheld, looks identical to the base PS4/X1 versions, only its portable, it has motion controls, HD Rumble, touchscreen support and new over the shoulder views. Oh, and it's 2 versions in one (killer Switch feature for all games). That's a lot of leverage over the other versions, especially when it's practically identical graphically
