Journey to the Savage Planet is a frustrating game. Not because it’s that hard (it’s not, at least not intentionally), and not because it’s broken (at least not too much). No, it’s frustrating because it’s so close to being a good game, and you can see the tweaks that would have made it a good game…but absent those tweaks, it all just feels like a giant missed opportunity.

While it starts exceptionally strong, towards the end the game gets boring and the finale seems as creative as something I myself could have written in ten minutes. [04/2020, p.52]
Its a wild, crazy, weird world out there. And you and a fellow victi…friend will be able to explore it. If you have been looking for an actually fun and enjoyable survivor exploration game then look no further. Even with a few hiccups, it can still be a nice adventure.

Would be a great game but lazy devs didn't bother to add gyro and the controls are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Bosses that just dont work sometimes. The controls oh my god the fking controls are so bad. Insane pop-up loading even in small areas. Great humor lost in crap design and a lazy port. Not even worth the $5 on sale.

Solid fun game but not outstanding. Journey to the savage planet is an enjoyable exploration game with a capitalist overlh satirical tone that many games are adopting. You explore an interesting and visually good planet in search of fuel and a material for humanity. Gameplay is fun, at first you will notice the stamina is way too low but it doesnt take much time in increasing. Exploring the world is rewarding enough and you will have quite the tools to do so, double and triple jumps, boosters, grappling hooks, etc which makes moving around fun for your playtrough. The game has combat but its just there, one weapons and not many ways to approach it, bosses arent really fun but i wouldnt say they were annoying or a drag neither, some enemy types were very annoying and some others were tricky and fun, but this aspect is really secondary. The other important aspect of this game is the world. Beatiful, well designed, fun to explore and interesting. Biomes constantly change to not feel like you are on the same place ever. Straying from your main path and experimenting is always fun and encouraged. The world is good and memorable, but there are other games of its kind which just have a better world. Ost was pretty lacking, outside of the menu theme, nothing interesting, sound design was just ok. Its a fun game for sure, it has coop too if you want to chat and play with your friend. But the main issue is that, its nothing especial really. The combat is lacking, the world is good and fun but it never felt too especial, nor better than other games of its kind like subnautica. The humor was fine, it made me laugh but this kind of tone is being found each time more, making it nothing special. The lore behind it, keeps you interested in the game but its nothing you really are going to remember or atribute to its greatness. This game is just a fun short experience, that it may not be really special but it sure will be entertaining and scanning and exploring the world will be fun and satisfying as well as relaxing. Just dont expect something incredible. Worth at 10$

I really enjoyed this game and I'm looking forward to the sequel coming out soon. If you like games like High on Life, I highly recommend this **** map is bigger than I thought, and it was fun to find hidden elements all over the place, and the battle with the boss was also fun. There were a couple of times where I wasted several hours because there were no hints in the middle, and then I understood it by watching YouTube walkthroughs. I don't really have any complaints, but when playing with a controller, having to press the D-pad left and right as many as four or five times to select the weapon to throw was very annoying during tense boss battles. It would have been less frustrating during boss battles if I had been able to quickly select a weapon by holding down the L1 button and using thumb stick to select the weapon.

Journey to the Savage Planet is an excellent and often funny firstperson exploration game. You could call it a Metroidvania game but that’s just lazy. Go out and buy this.

Sometimes almost too colorful action RPG with motivating Metroidvania elements and minor design flaws.

WOW! I LOVED this game. Most enjoyable experience I've had this year so far. The controls are smooth, the game is gorgeous, the cutscenes and in-game commercials are hilarious. They made collecting items very enjoyable. I ended up finding 100% of everything in the main game and in the "Trash" DLC.... and I was still wanting more! If you are a fan of games like Metroid Prime or Banjo Kazooie, this is the game for you. Crossing my fingers for more DLC and sequels. A Must Play.

Journey to the Savage Planet is a great adventure game, particularly in coop. It’s like a light-hearted, more colorful and open Metroid Prime, so if you’re looking for something like that, it’s definitely worth your time and money.

Journey To The Savage Planet is a fun, arcadey ride with its comedic characters, cartoony art style and unique blend of game genres. Secrets and secondary objectives galore, creative creature design, and a rewarding gameplay loop only add to that ride. Although the co-op disappoints, you shouldn't overlook Typhoon Studios' great first game.

With an enchanting and funny universe and some nice exploration components, Journey to Savage Planet shines, but fails a bit in bringing the combat system in on the formula.

The game doesn’t outstay its welcome over its 12ish hours, which is, truthfully, something of a blessing.

The game’s themes feel like facile wallpaper over mechanics that feed into the ideas being critiqued.

Journey to the savage planet tries to be so many things and does amazingly well. I loved the Open world, although it can be confusing. In my playthrough this didn't matter, because it only took me 4 days to complete it. During these days I could develope a pretty good map in my head, so the only time I was lost was when I first entered each area. The missing map and the safety of the spaceship due to being pretty much the only pause function and safepoint in the game really immersed me into the role of a space explorer. The satiric part of the game is sometimes a subtle comment of your KI companion EKO, and sometimes a super funny video or email. The videos especially are bad in a good way. The best thing is the computer's loading screen though. Unlocking new upgrades was always a joy and they were always integrated in a way, that didn't stop you from exploring too much. The only exception were the two last ones. And the platforming - it felt awesome to jump around with the cool air control upgrades in the late game. With the world consisting of vertical or flying surroundings, this makes backtracking a lot faster and easier. Oh right. Backtracking. As a completionist I enjoy getting things and having them all. I do NOT enjoy searching things. Thankfully this game didn't make me do that, since it had helpful tools. Although having 100 orange goo, 32 upgrade materials, 18 lore objects, 10 fuel tanks and 196 scans to collect, it was never endless searching, nor was it running from one waypoint to the other. All in all it took me nearly 20 hours for only 30€. Stretching this game wouldn't have been a good idea. The number one reason I enjoyed this game so much, was because there was always something fresh and new. 10 additional hours would not have preserved this feeling. So I think this length is perfectly fine. If you love Sci-Fi, exploring, platforming and a little bit of Douglas Adams - go buy that game.

I really enjoyed the game. I liked the charm. The co-op too, but the game is enough to play through once. Collecting all the stuff didn't appeal to me personally. Still, I can highly recommend the game in co-op.

Got it in ps+. A funny game at the beginning but it loses charm very fast. Unbalanced gameplay, there's too much or too little. Either it lacks a map, a freecam system and a way to teleport to base. Or a less punishing death and unlimited consumables, or simply a save. In this state it's a chore to experiment with jumps or items, since it involves heavy backtracking in case of failure

SummaryIn this colorful, co-op adventure game you play as the newest recruit to Kindred Aerospace. Dropped onto an uncharted planet with little equipment, you must determine if this planet is fit for human habitation but perhaps you are not the first to set foot here…
