Johnny Hotshot is a good pickup if you're in the mood for a light gun game on the 3DS, and as a bonus, it has a little side-scrolling shooting in there too.

Despite being somewhat charming and well made, Johnny Hotshot is just too repetitive and asks you to go through each level way too many times for you to really wind up enjoying it fully. Had it eased down on the time demands, you'd have a little more fun, but in the end, it just feels pointlessly challenging in way that confuses itself for depth.

Johnny Hotshot misses the mark for the most part. The game is fun, but being forced to play through the same stages over and over again just to make progress is irritating. It's simply poor design.

Johnny Hotshot is more than just a bad game; it's a bad game that demands perfection, so that even those adventurous players who are willing to give this a shot are unlikely to see most of it. With a terrible control scheme, absurdly plentiful loading screens and an interface that seemingly keeps trying to shrug you off and discourage you from playing it, this is definitely a download you'll want to let ride into the sunset without you.
