Hunt the Night
Hunt the Night is a great example of what a first-time developer can accomplish. It ticks almost all of the expected boxes, while nailing the balance and cohesion between its melee and ranged fighting techniques, and how one relies on the other. The game is a solid challenge, particularly in its boss fights, without ever feeling unfair. The times it doesn’t fully score a win at least show enough potential to hint at what could have been. Its relatively short runtime offers a tight and enjoyable experience that could do with a little bit more content and world-building to iron out the well-intentioned content provided. With a very solid presentation backing it up, it’s an easy recommendation for dark action RPG fans.
Hunt the Night is a challenging and rewarding game with a grim atmosphere, a great art design and a well balanced combat system.
Net of some imperfections, Hunt the Night is a product that manages to entertain for its entire duration and beyond, given the presence of extra modes that offer bread for the teeth of fans of soulslike and the like. The simple and fast combat system, the well-studied puzzles and the goodness of the boss fights make the work signed by Moonlight Games an event not to be missed for fans of the genre, both on Nintendo Switch and on PC.

the game is an awesome mix of old-school action and dark, moody vibes. i really had a lof of fun playing it, and i'm love with the pixel art of the game . Plus, the soundtrack really sets the mood and adds to the whole experience.

2 stars! So, I played Hunt the Night and got all the achievements on Steam, but honestly, I wasn't too impressed. I thought it would be amazing because the art looked cool, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The settings were okay, I guess, but they weren't as magical as Mario's colorful worlds. And the little details? Well, they were there, but they didn't really add much to the overall experience. The gameplay and music were just average. It didn't feel as fun or exciting as playing Mario. The controls were okay, but they weren't as tight and responsive as I would have liked. And the music, well, it was forgettable. Nothing really stood out or got me pumped up like the iconic Mario tunes. Now, let's talk about the final bosses. They were tough, I'll give them that. But they were frustrating and didn't feel as satisfying to defeat as Mario's big bad Bowser. It took me a long time to beat them, and it wasn't as enjoyable as it should have been. If you're expecting Hunt the Night to be like Mario, with its charm and joy, you'll be disappointed. It just doesn't have that same magic. It falls short in comparison, and I can't say it's one of my favorite indie games of 2023. I'd rather go back to playing Mario and having a blast.

Hunt the Night is a challenging but rewarding game that rewards players with new gear, timing, and skill. It takes place in a world where humans and monsters live in a cycle, where humans come together to stop the cycle. Dialogue in the game is intentionally vague and just enough to set the tone of the world. The story and gameplay of Hunt the Night are well-done, with a mix of melee and ranged combat with dodging.

Hunt the Night has good core mechanics and an interesting universe to explore. But this is the kind of experience that will cause frustration and players need to be ready to deal with that. A big time and energy investment are needed to master combat scenarios, especially when bosses are involved. Both the world and the presentation are good enough to keep players interested. There's also nothing better than finally winning a fight you've previously lost tens of times. Hunt the Night could have used a few extra concessions for newcomers but it's one of the best top-down combat-focused experiences for players who want to be challenged.

After having finished the game, and having achieved all the achievements on Steam, I can without a doubt say that the experience at the playable level is incredible. When it went on sale I had expectations, since the art of the game caught my attention, but I did not think that it would exceed my expectations by far, with incredible settings, attention to detail, with a gameplay and soundtrack cared for with great care. , and above all, with some final bosses that without a doubt more than one will remember (both for the combat and design, and for the time it took me to defeat it hahaha). If you see Hunt The Night and it reminds you of a Zelda with touches of Souls and Bloodborne aesthetics, you won't be mistaken, and I assure you that the experience is well worth it. At the moment it becomes one of my favorite indies of 2023.

Hunt the Night is a beautiful game that crafts a haunting atmosphere and an engrossing world. Despite some uneven design, the desire to unravel Medhram’s mysteries and see the next inventive boss fight kept me engaged until the end of the 15-hour adventure. If you can stomach the frustrating combat elements, there is a lot to enjoy in Vesper’s quest.

Hunt the Night is an incredibly challenging and fun action game. Progression relies heavily on the player’s skill and understanding of enemy attack telegraphs to avoid damage. Sure, you’ll die a lot, but the knowledge gained from each encounter will keep you alive until the boss fights. Puzzle also has some depth to them, requiring players to be immersed in the world to solve the trials. Luckily, this is easy, thanks to the detailed lore found throughout the game world.

Combat can be fatiguing rather than stimulating, and frustrations are plentiful. But underneath it all is a game with potential, influenced by an assortment of classics. Hunt the Night, but only if you are tolerant and can forgive some conspicuous imperfections.
