At first I thought the game was atmospheric and didn't want me to miss anything as it locked movement to a snail's pace (similar to the narrative-driven intro of Dead Space). Nope. I naively thought this game was at least going to be an entertaining Dead Space knockoff with some cheap scares and purchased at a deep discont. Even for $1 this game is repetitive, an awful slog, annoying level designs, slow and boring enemies, and there wasn't much "game" here. You get what you pay for and I'd rather throw a dollar's worth of coins into a fountain or waste them on a crane game than waste another second on this terrible game.

This game looks like way too far cheap parody on Dead Space. Here is a lack of atmosphere. Super annoying repetitive music, really! I went down to the options and set the volume music to 1 of 10. Its sounds like they made a scary melody length of 5 seconds long and then repeat it endlessly. You can go crazy by this music. The enemies are very funny, just a ridiculous sight. The shooting was done very poorly. Your hero walking very slow. I don't like this game

I just do NOT understand the hate this game gets. I just finally bought it n have played about an hour of it, and it’s FANTASTIC!! Incredibly creepy n absolutely WICKED atmosphere! I’m guessing the story falls flat from the awful reviews but from my experience, it’s an amazing dark n creepy psychological thriller that’s priced way too cheap!!

If your looking for a cheap horror game this is it. Some aspects of the game are mediocre, but you will have a good time if your into anxiety stricken horror games. My main gripe is it is hard to tell where you have to go specially in the beginning. Pros: Great graphics, smooth controls, jump scares aplenty. Cons: slow movement, repetitive sound, same enemies, not clear on where to go. Conclusion buy if you are looking for a cheaper heart attack!

So ugly and jerky that it's unplayable... Thank goodness I bought it heavily discounted. Wouldn't recommend at all. Story is stale too..

Imagine everything that could've gone wrong with Dead Space and this is basically what you get. [The Short Version] I didn't like this game at all. It wanted to be sexual for some reason with naked alien zombie women, combat is clunky but ok I guess, the game just looks ugly, UI is terrible, and the cutscenes don't work. Stay away from this game and buy something else. p.s. These positive reviews are lookin' kind sus......................................... [My Gameplay Experience] Hollow is a first-person, sci-fi, survival horror game where you take control of a space delivery man who has just boarded a seemingly empty vessel. Dazed and confused you embark to find someone who can tell you what is going on and why everyone seems to be missing. You end up finding a radio. You pick it up. After wandering around for a bit you encounter your first jumpscare! This won't be your last. I crouch under some crates and continue forth to the main power room. At this point, I'm hearing noises and I'm genuinely getting a bit unsettled. I turn on the power which (you guessed it) just so happens to be a jumpscare. I then go to the control room and wander around there for a bit before noticing a note telling me what I should do. "Hollow. Follow my instructions". I kick a generator and somehow turn it on. I then find a gun (?) and I proceed to scare myself by shooting the gun which I swear is louder than the actual game's audio. I encounter my first enemy. A naked woman with knives for feet. I shoot her a few times and she disintegrates into oblivion as I see her corpse glitch and stretch out. I walk to the room in front of me and I am greeted by another woman who's pinned on the wall next to a gore display. I'm starting to sense an unsettling trend here. I wander into a few more corridors and there's another human. The camera tells me this by controlling the camera into awkward positions then suddenly snaps back to me. I continue and then I'm met with more naked monster women who proceed to gang up on me. While this is happening a cutscene happens and I'm still taking damage. I die mid cutscene and I get booted to the title screen. Then my game crashes. What the **** just happened. [My Thoughts] I will admit, I was hyped for this game when I saw it on the store but oh my god I was in for one hell of a disappointment. The game looks ugly, there is a weird blur, walking feels off, and it just feels bad. Combat is pretty fun, I think. I do understand what they were trying to do but they somehow managed to do everything wrong. I only managed to see one enemy design and those were the naked women monsters. To me, they got inspiration from Dead Space which is ok but they did something rather... strange. It seems like they were trying to be sexual but since it's a horror game it gives off a very creepy and disturbing vibe. This is in no way a compliment to the game. I am saying the designers are either closet necrophiliacs or they want us to somehow get aroused from shooting naked zombie alien women. Both of which are disturbing thoughts. It's not a good game. It had potential to be something great but it just flopped like an old pile of tripe being blasted off into space. Doesn't make sense? Exactly. P.S. Whoever you are character designer, get help

In the start the game was looking good for me, the gameplay maybe too clunky, but well, is an indie. I started in Hard mode and seems to you need Disc for save the game, like the ink in resident Evil, not bad. The problem was that they give me 2 disc in the first area, and never seen a disc again. All the day playing without sutting down de console and the "GHOST" grab me (i was slow) and instakill me (is what he/she does). Then i decide to start Normal difficulty not cause it was difficult, but beacause they didnt give me any disc for saving, at leas one for each 3-4 savemachines. Well that was dissapointing, but ok, i wanna know the story of the game. The BIG problems comes with the Final Scene. When the "Ghost" grabs me, sometimes instakilled me, thats normal, but sometimes crashes the game and the switch forced to go back to menu, it happens like 5 times (3 times i take photo). When i was doing well and dont letting the Ghost grab me, the Script of the terminals bugged a lot of times, dont letting me to "Execute" the protocol. At the end i decided to watch the end in youtube. Well, there´s no end literally it says "Wait Hollow 2 lol". I buy this game for 0,75€ and i still get dissapoint... im not judging the quality of the game... the game is literally broken, and dont let me end it

Hollow is a game that had the potential to become a fantastic horror videogame, but it's sad graphics, poor design, and inconvenient movement was possibly the most agonizing and traumatizing playing this game for the unfortunate 6 hours that it took me. The only redeeming quality of this game, and sadly the driving method for my playtime, were the 5 images that I collected over the course of the game that was the result of a half-assed idea of an easter egg hunt that ended up more interesting than the actual game. These images, on the other hand, were more full-ass (in the sense of naked women) and I can say their quality was better than the entire game altogether. Thank you for putting this game on sale for the $0.99 that it cost me, I would not have thought of purchasing this otherwise. You provided a game that I could only play with my friends who would similarly only wait for the next moment I found **** left behind on an abandoned spaceship full of creepy "Toy Story 2"-esque naked women who wanted to eat me.

I wanted to like this game. I really did. I was intrigued by the concept, and I thought it would be worth a try for the $1.99 I paid for it on the Switch e-shop. This game is bogged down by errors from top to bottom. The very first problem with this game is the fact that the dialogue sounds like it was written by someone who has little to no grasp of the English language. Even worse, the subtitles are riddled with spelling errors, which makes me think that the developers couldn't be bothered to revise their script before calling this a completed game. The movements in the game are clunky. Aside from the fact that the main character can only move at two speeds--slow and practically not moving at all--the enemies move in a way that feels inauthentic and phoned in. They make noises when they're behind you, but they never seem to attack from behind. When it comes to combat, the game makes little to no use of anything outside of a lazy FPS that has been done better by its contemporaries. The visuals are interesting enough, but they get tired once you've made your way around the ship for the 40th time looking for the next location in your mission. It seems like the devs spent more time developing realistic breasts on the female demon spawn that you spend most of your journey trying to kill than on the details that are actually important...like a map layout that isn't incredibly confusing and reductive. It all feels very hopeless--and not to the game's advantage. Ultimately, this game has a long way to go before it can be considered finished. The concept is half-baked, the story is just not engaging enough to keep my attention, and even the better ideas that this game presents are just not fleshed out in a way that feels fulfilling. Disappointed is an understatement, especially for a game that costs $2.

The game is simply not fun. The game mechanics are terrible. The good reviews are fake. I bought it on sale for two euros, and i'm still unhappy with the purchase. The unic good thing is the ambience.

This game isn't even worth think about. The frames are SO poor, even my old 486 could show more. Seriously. Most of the time the game has maybe 15 -20 frames. With MSAA on LOW. And if that wouldn't be enough, the models from "enemies" are so ridicoulus poor made... Even the animations. Everything looks choppy and laggy. Not meant to be a horror style.. No it's just crap. I am really regret to spend 8€ for that piece of.... something. And if that all wouldn't be a nail for the coffin, the worst is taht you have some kind of "helmet camera" effect ALL THE TIME. You never have a clear view. You are always looking through a flcikering, badly made helmet camera and you can'T even turn that off. Seriously. Do not buy this game unless you are drunk and you want to make fun of it. It's just not worth the money. I would rather go and play more No mans sky then play 20 more minutes of that horror game. And not horror because of the atmosphere. I mean horror regarding the poorly programmed and made game. Oh and don'T get me started with the SLOOOOOOW movement speed... What a shame ****... It'S not a game, it's an early alpha of an early access game. Bah

a lot of hate for a game that's soundwise perfect and atmospheric its not as awful hands on hey I liked for what it is and I loved Elex so there you go its movement grates you move way to slow theres little ammo the map is hard to follow at times but exploring is fun to do and the puzzles good once you work them out the story well... the story is not bad at all I liked it it ran smooth played well and the gunplay wasn't too bad sure could've been worse but some gripes cant outweigh the fact I had fun and that's where it counts its not overpriced a good thing id recommend it it gets an 8 because above all it was fun to play once I got used to it

It's suspicious that the 10/10 reviews are from the same day, anyway, this game is awful, it has so much film grain that it's hard to see whats interactive and whats part of the decoration, the puzzles are bad and frustrating, movement is uber slow, ammo is extremely scarse, if you combine that with the fact that you can barely see stuff on the ground to pick up and that the melee attack doesn't kill enemies and you can't outrun them. Worst part of this game: there are no refunds on the nintendo eshop.

I think Hollow is the perfect example **** that can divide opinions. It's a horror game about a guy exploring a ship going through a bit of a crisis. It's not a perfect game, and while I was turned off the first 10 or 15 minutes I started playing it, I eventually got used to the mechanics and ended up enjoying it. The biggest con in my book is that the movement is slow. You can click the left analog stick to run, and by run, I mean move at a decent walking pace. Thankfully, you can "run" indefinitely, although when the main character speaks, the speed reverts to "slow as a crawl" until the dialog is completed. Also, they use a lot of screen effects that while sometimes cool, can also be a bit distracting, and overdone. Unlike most indie horror titles, you actually can fight back in this game, and that is a big plus for me. Yes, ammo is limited, but a well placed headshot will take out the more common enemies. Aiming to get that headshot is a bit clunky, and definitely takes some getting used to. Really, that's the main thing I experienced with this game, and it is also why I liked it the longer I played it. Once you get good at managing the movement, and combat, Hollow can be an enjoyable game. I heard that the game suffered framerate dips for some people, but I didn't have any (in docked or handheld mode), and if they did happen, I didn't notice them. I will state the disclaimer that I have no problem with games that run at 30FPS, So maybe that has something to do with how I perceived the experience. All in all, Hollow is an OK horror game for the Switch, and if you have already played Resident Evil Revelations, and are looking for another horror game where you don't have to constantly run and hide, maybe check this one out. In full disclosure, I picked this game up for under $10 during a sale, and I feel like I got my moneys worth. At it's full price of $20, it's a much harder sell.

A couple months back EA shutdown visceral games the developers of dead space. This angered me deeply as I loved dead space and consider it among my favorite horror series of all time. I've been looking trying to find a game to fill the void since dead space is in limbo... I stumbled on this game which prided itself as a space survival horror game similar to alien isolation, dead space, and even movies like pandorum and event horizon. The trailer looked very spooky and oozed atmosphere and any fan of the game could draw comparisons from this and dead space. Could hollow be a good take on sci-fi survival horror to satisfy fans of visceral game's horror masterpiece. Or is the game rather ahem...hollow. Let's find out Graphics: the graphics are pretty good for a pc port on the switch. Chromatic aberration and lens flare are used to good effect even though at times it can obscure your view especially during hallucinations. But it isn't anything game breaking. Playing undocked does seem to tone it down some. Textures are nice when not viewed too closely. The only exception would be the pasty faces on some characters and muddy facial textures. The space station the game takes place on is full of creepy atmosphere and detailed interiors, though they do look a bit same-y after awhile. There are multiple parts to the station which add some variety to the scenery which is nice. The monster designs are creepy and unique looking. They look crossed between necromorphs and mannequins, which i found delightfully horrifying. The enemy variety is decent for an indie game such as this but you do see a couple of the same looking enemies at The beginning which get progressively more grotesque which helps alleviate some repetition. The lighting is a little to bright for my liking even with gamma settings adjusted and shadows are almost nonexistent which I find very odd for a horror game.Overall graphics are pretty nice. other than the lighting and shadow effects, No real complaints there. Story: the story, as with most horror games, is very cryptic. The story gets some answers later on but it leaves with more questions than answers. The story starts with you, a pilot crash lands at the space station known as shahkter one. The ship is abandoned though audio logs and warning sirens hint something terrible has happened. Monsters infest the ship and the pilot is looking for someone. I won't go into further details on fear of spoiling the story. It has psychological horror and themes of fear of commitment as well as abandonment. It's a pretty good story but it feels unfinished, which makes sense as the end credits heavily tease a sequel. Still it is kind of a letdown to be left with so many questions and the cliffhanger ending doesn't help either. It's just unfinished but it is interesting. Gameplay: this is a fps survival exploration game. It start off rather slow but when you find your first weapon it picks up as well as the threat. The shooting controls are fine though you are going to want to turn the control sensitivity up as the character moves very slow and slow reactions can lead to death. Speaking of death there are some parts in the game that will try to ambush you and end your life fast. Which can be especially annoying if you don't use the save system and have to repeat difficult sections over and over. On "hard" difficulty the game takes a page from old survival horror games and requires you find floppy disks throughout the ship so you can save your game. Run out and you'll be out of luck so be sure to use them wisely as they are very few and strangely missing in later parts. I recommend playing on normal as you can save to your heart's content no floppy disks needed. The reason being a later section in the game spikes and can cause you to start back at an earlier inconvenient point which happened to me and led to massive frustration. Puzzles are decent though a bit cryptic but nothing too difficult. Decent gameplay that works all around. Sound: sound is ok. The monsters and sound effects are good, voice acting is hit or miss but not too bad. Music is good and creepy and but at times you can hear it loop. Decent sound and good music throughout. Lasting appeal: this is where my main criticism **** length and replay value. I'm not a fan of short games but if they are fun and exciting to play I let it slide sometimes... Hollow puts me in a difficult spot. It's not a bad game by any means and it is fun despite some issues like the save system and difficulty spikes, but it is a short experience. It took me about 3 hours to finish the game although i didn't find all collectible nude photos (yes there are pics and idk why). There isn't any reason to play again unless you want to find all the pics and collectibles or try out hard difficulty but that's it. The length is the biggest problem i have with this game. Hollow is a good horror game that takes huge inspiration

The reivews here are kind of suspect. The game seems rushed, half baked and unfinished. Graphics are tough to look at. If Doom could be done properly on Switch there is no excuse. The story is hard to follow. It is hard to see anything in the dark enviorments and when the flashlight is on it makes it impossible to see sometimes. Also your character moves at only 2 speeds slow and extremely slow. Half the time your shots will miss at point blank range against enemies. I was very excited for this game as it looked interesting so i bought it first day. Save your money. Don't make the same mistake I did. Do not buy!!! Unless the developer releases an update to fix alot of these issues. There are a ton of better games on Switch for $20 or under.

The port of the game leaves much to be desired.Though the game is not bad. There are good **** is evident that the developers did not have enough money to implement this **** game pays tribute to Dead space, but as it does it is another **** you evaluate the game without knowing that there is Dead space, it is generally not a bad project.I hope the developers do not throw the game and

So far I really like it. I've been having the problem for years with horror games not scaring me, at all. Well this one feels a little more creepy and claustrophobic and atmospheric than most. Part of it is the awful film grain filter the game uses, and part of it is the slightly sluggish survival horror style controls, but in this case I'd say they're a good thing. They make the player feel vulnerable, and to me, you CAN NOT have a scary game, unless it makes the player feel vulnerable. This one does. I feel the same way about the original Slender game (not the Arrival). It was super dark, unforgiving as hell, you didn't feel powerful or athletic AT ALL, and because of that it was the most a game has scared me. Even more so than the highlight of Dead Space 2 which I don't even want to spoil. It does require that you've played the first dead space to have its full effect but lets just say it was a masterfully done nod to the first game that makes you feel an incredible sense of dread the second you realize what's happening.

Great atmosphere in this scifi/horror adventure game set in space for the Switch. I love the graphical effects, the sound and music which reminds me a lot of Alien. The story, up till now, is flowing really well and buiding tension.
