A breath of fresh air, full of smart thinking and new ideas - and it looks incredible. [Aug 2015, p.91]

The beat'em up genre finally has a great game on PS4 that also is getting to PS3. Supporting the use of the Unreal Engine, the new release of Guilty Gear shows its wonderful weapons once again.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign, even with its flaws and the sense of a project in some way… unfinished, is an extraordinary fighting game and a must buy for anyone who loves the genre.

Meh, uninspired garbage, what the whole Guilty Gear franchise actually is...

For beginners and newcomers alike, with a killer ost and stunning graphics. Guilty Gear Xrd, as in "third X" because the last game was XX pronounced X2 which came after Guilty Gear X it's very confusing, don't think about it. Anyway Xrd was the first game to come out on the PlayStation 4 and used the new hardware to its advantage and then some, sporting absolutely beautiful 3D models that look almost as good as the series old sprite animation, in a genre where making the dimensional leap often results is gross doughy models, think Street Fighter, ArcSys nailed it with its anime inspired style. Story wise, Sign picks up where Overture left off and remains the only reason you should ever play Overture. It follows Sol, Sin, Ky and newcomers Ramlethal and Elphelt Valentine, a name you'll recognise from the antagonist of Overture, see? Told you it was worth it. The story also includes the characters absent from Overture, namely Johnny and May, Venom, Millia and Zato-1, as well as Faust, Leo, Chipp and more, so the story feels notably less isolated than Overtures did. It also has absolutely zero gameplay, that's right, starting from Sign all the way till now with Strive, Guilty Gear comes with not only Daisuke's new soundtrack, but also his anime. The story is split up into chapters which all have an A and B part, which range about 25-30 minutes, so you could very much watch this like a season of anime if you wanted, and Arcade Mode is still there if you want a more traditional fighting game experience... Tekken... Looking at you... In terms of the online, I don't play fighting games online because I like being happy, so moving swiftly along. The game is unbeatable in terms of its graphics, soundtrack and performance. The game runs smooth as butter and works at 60fps, while ArcSys maintain an anime style, so characters move at around 24fps in keeping with that, and it does wonders for the games unique style. As for the soundtrack, I think the Xrd games had the best ost of the entire series up to that point, with Strive taking that mantle in my mind as of recent, but Sign is unmistakably badass, really gives the "Lets rock" tagline some extra oomph. While not my favourite in the series, Sign is up there as one of the most unique and artistically rich fighting game on the ps4, with a fun story, great fighting and superb sound design and musical tracks, and it only gets better from here.

If you are willing to put the work into the game, then Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- is awesome, simply awesome. It’s a game that you will be playing for years to come, not just a flavor of the week.

This is the best title ever done by Ark System Works, a 2D fighting game you cannot miss if you're a fan of the genre.

I had heard a lot of good things about the Guilty Gear franchise, but never really got into it due to my lack of skill in fighting games. All I can say is... damn... I have been missing out. So far, this has got to be my favorite fighting game yet (Though I understand that fans say X2 is better. Again, I have not tried it as of this review) Graphics aren't really important to me... but wow, this game is gorgeous. There's a ton of combos you can pull off and the game plays smoothly, and I have yet to experience lag in online battles, even when I play against people from other regions like Japan. Yes, the character roster is a bit small, but they're all great and each have their own unique charm.

A triumphant return for a fighting series that stayed in hiding for an entire generation. Arc System Works has laid a visual salvo with 3D models that animate like 2D art. Combined with the amazing soundtrack and technical gameplay, Xrd is a great fighter.

Arc System reported the Guilty Gear homes in style, with a gigantic title not only in terms of gameplay, but also in terms of graphics and content.

Guilty Gear Xrd has enough wacky characters and well-crafted tutorials to be interesting for novices, but it’s those of us seeking a challenge that will find the most to love here.

One of the best looking fighting games ever and the most successful attempt yet to make an interactive anime, even if it is a little lacking in content and new ideas.

Guilty Gear Xrd Sign lives up to the high-speed standards of its predecessors, but doesn't bring enough of its own to the table to exceed them.

Look wise as mentioned before, It isa major upgrade from traditional 2D sprites to great toon shaded characters that retain and improve the look and animations from predecessors. Very fun combat and deep strategy (for hardcore fighters). Only thing I can complain about to nitpick , is some of the English voices, you either get good voices, for some characters or some that aren't as good (personal taste), would rather switch to Japanese language. As far as an easy to get into, there are plenty of training options to help a casual gamer. This is definitely a must have for any PS4 owners library.Definitely one of my top favorite games this year and hopefully we get DLC updates for more characters I am looking forward to seeing Jam and Baiken.

Guilty Gear franchise is something that probably older players will remember. To the new players,. If it gives you BlazBlue vibe, then you have to know that it's from the same creators. But Guilty Gear is much older and draws it's roots from the first PSX days. Even though BlazBlue that came now was there to kinda vanquish the thirst of players that were longing for a sequel, the feeling was not really the same. But now, the game makes a comeback, and what a comeback it is. I'm not really a graphic **** to be honest. If it looks nice then it's a bonus but gameplay and atmosphere is what really takes a cake for me.. but I must say that holy hell the game looks absolutely amazing. The best looking fighter out there now, period. If you like anime style or not, doesn't change the fact that makers did a hell of a job. An Unreal 3 powered engine with cel-shaded face paint makes it look like a real high-quality anime show. Kinda similar to CyberConnect2's level, but the models here are even more fluid and crisp. The fighting is a mix of BlazBlue and Street Fighter 4. Crazy moves are there and you still need tehnique to pull it off. There is a nice and long tutorial but still you'll have to get ready to memorize all the combo strings. New engine means that they had to start from scratch when making characters, so some fan favorites are gonna be missing, but they will probably be in the extended version. Personally I had some problem playing online as lag was present on few occasions, overall netcode is so and so for now. I'm sure they will sort that out later or maybe it was just me. Sory mode is kinda all over the place, so to grasp it all you really have to know some stuff from previous games. But yeah, if you are into fighters, then try this one. Originally wanted to give a normal score but seeing how people are putting negative for no goddamn reason I'll put the max one. Peace! :3

Guilty Gear Xrd - Fresh Reboot + Graphics are fresh and great style + Rock music just like the classic + controls great + Online has sit down arcade like simulation + Great training and tutorial options - Story mode not very deep, cut scenes only - Not that many fighters yet - DLC is pricy - New installments are around the corner - Lack of variety wears after extended play Overall - it's a fresh new start to the series, gameplay is much like you'd expect from a next gen guilty gear fighter. DLC and future installment releases plague the future, They should switch to a release style like Street fighter V, making the game like a service.
SummaryGuilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, the newest entry of the Guilty Gear fighting game series, brings its redesigned, extreme style and unique 3D animation to players everywhere.
