August 2025 update killed GBG. Inno is a greedy company moving towards a pay to play model; this game got caught up in the mix. It has become so complicated toplay that it has lost all fun.

Played this game since 2015, it was a chill browser game. recently, the game started to introduce so many changes and upgrades that the older cities feels obstacle now. everything i have built since 2015 toward 2024 vanished in couple months. WTH is that ? a player who actively spent on the game in the past will lose the value of his spendings in couple months. SAD

A new feature the inventory log coming to the beta server on Tuesday February 25th, with this new addition you'll be able to track a detailed history of the items you've received including when and from which features they were obtained whether it's event rewards special chests or daily collections everything will now be recorded for better Inventory management and a clearer understanding of your in-game progress. this update builds upon recent improvements to the inventory including the lock and Mark as favorite sorting and filtering options features that are already fully functional on the live servers now with the addition of the inventory log managing your items has never been easier but let's be honest while tracking items is great it would be even better if we had an easier way to get rid of unnecessary items that clutter our inventories.

I just started playing this game 2 days ago. I do get frustrated at times, but I am learning. Money should not keep you from playing a game without spending it. You can definitely play this game with patience. So far, I am not very far and Idid get upset over the super low ability to expand without spending money. But like a lot of the other reviews, you just have to keep pushinIt is a grind for sure. I am having to look things up because I am learning, but that is ok.

First, to address the negative reviews. I have been playing this game since 2020 without spending a dime. Regardless, I have been able to expand to fit everything I need and I don't worry about being plundered by other players thanks to the army that I've built. A large amount of these negative reviews are from people who have played the game for a week or two and are upset that the haven't already won. There are many complaints about the necessity of spending money in order to progress. However, as one would learn when talking to more experienced players, perhaps from your guild, you should not quickly progress. You should stay in the same age for weeks or months to cultivate large amounts of military bonuses, powerful great buildings, and a large supply of goods, coins, supplies, and forge points. The point of the game is not to "win", it is to, over time, create a powerful city. Getting first place in a single competition, of which there are many, does nothing if you have squeezed the success out of your city in order to do so. Now, for the reasons why I love this game.
This game has filled a very specific niche in gaming for me. I've played plenty of open-world single-player RPGs, multiplayer fps games, 2d platformers, mobile games with the exact same UI, and many others, but this game doesn't fit into any of those categories. It is a game that I could put hundreds or even thousands of hours into. I immensely enjoy the thought and planning that is a large part of this game and the rewarding feeling that you get when you finally, through dedication (and with no money spent) attain a goal that you set for yourself.

it was fun for about a day. Now I cant do anything without spending a lot of money. No thanks.

Heavily tied to spending real money. I will briefly mention that graphics and gameplay aspects are well made, but inhumane greed of the developer downweighs everything all good aspects. Its name should be greed of empires. I cannot recommend this game. I say it as someone who played hundreds of F2p games. There are a million ways to implement paid content and not anger players. It can be smart and very acceptable by all gamers. This is obviously is not that case. This game is one of the most greedy begging attempt I have ever experienced. Do not play it.
I played for a week. And every day it was getting more obvious there can be no progress without heavy spending.

I played that game when I had a problem with my PC during COVID period (difficulty to repair it where I was at the time) and found it moderately fun and complex to be somehow engaging, I liked graphics and music with an ambiance which was not bad (that is why I have given note of 4), still it is a typical mobile/web browser game money grab, that is why it is not a good game overall, and one should not give any real money to such operation; I stopped playing that when the lenghty timers and other obstacles pushed me towards paying anything for that, I have just found other funny browser games. Again, do not be fooled into spending any real money on such kind of games !

Many comments here about cheating and use of bots in this game. This is also what I have experienced. Don't expect Innogames to take any actions. Protect the cheaters seems to be their slogan.

This game is controlled by cheaters and Innogames does absolutely nothing to stop them. They use bots, multiple fake accounts and even have the in-games moderators supporting them.
The top cheaters are:
Tack13
Rain13
SanjaZZZZZZZZZZ
Necromancer
Xxsupr

I have been playing FoE for years and have enjoyed it. Now unfortunately, Many of the top tier players have been ambushed by Inno ( game inventor ). After waiting for a very long time for a new space age to become available for top players, they changed the way to game is played. Players all over the internet are complaining about how they have taken away all military power from this level. Nobody should go to Titan World. It is no fun anymore, FoE is now dedicating all of their efforts to getting new players to spend money and brush aside the players that have been with FoE for years. SAD

This was originally an awesome game. I would rate it negative stars now if I could. Too much cheating bogs down the servers at key times and locks out those playing through the game. Slow, buggy play especially during key game times when cheaters bypass the game features and submit commands directly to server...then you don't even get to see the options you cannot possibly click 4 times in time before the bots submit hundreds of battles while you wait for the spinning ball. Lack of anything new in last couple years. Way too many ads. I get that InnoGames has to make a profit. I don't volunteer a lot of my time and I don't expect Inno personnel are there just to help me but the ads really are ridiculous, especially for app players, which Inno previously identified as their key future market. Also on the money side, original game developers always kept it so all functions could be complete without spending money. Yes, of course, free players didn't get as much as those spending thousands on the game but still you could get the event rewards with extra effort. Not so now. Way too much cheating and support selectively bans cheaters. Hint: support is manned by moderators who play the game so do you think maybe they have incentives to decide who can and who cannot cheat? And you cannot possibly win without cheating so if you want to play, plan on getting in with the right moderators or plan on sitting locked while the bots run at key **** little spinning icons can be mesmerizing. The cheats are posted on Discord with training provided by the teams allowed to cheat but know if you are not on their teams, you will get banned. Don't worry about all the bugs; support is making another sexy looking female avatar that you can look at while your screen is locked and you can't do anything.

I played this game for over six years. It was great with original owners but with Inno, the cheaters and moderators control support and play the game using bots, scripts and mouse macros. They joke about it on global support thread. Videos submitted to support, showing user names while cheating, get no results for teams with key moderators while other players get banned. Support says they can't discuss how they decide who to take action against. Select teams are allowed to dominate the game regardless of how much data is sent to support. Support has even been given code and details on how to stop the cheating but they refuse. I sent a message direction to the company but received no response. Additionally, too many ads now, all over the place. I put thousands of RL dollars into this game and really enjoy it except for the cheating. I look for a better way to relax now. Lastly, the other reviews with comments about the server and lag and display issues are correct. Screens don't display right, making users exit and return frequently and it's hard to know if the screen is showing current data or not. GVG boots players when the server overloads, right in the middle of battles. Too many people won't play GVG anymore due to ongoing server issues. GVG is a key element of the game. Support says the "code is complicated" and they have admitted it won't be supported yet it still accounts for a major share **** ranking. Events are getting harder to complete for the main prize without spending RL dollars. Original owners had it so with diligent effort one could get at least one good prize from each event but it's more and more becoming where one needs to spend some RL money.

Players that pay money for this game get royally screwed by users that employ autonomous programs, aka bots, to play this game. Innovation Games pretends that they enforce a strict policy against players that use bots but this is a huge lie! Even when reported with video evidence showing that a user employs a bot, Inno does nothing to stop that user. I have played this game for some time and have personally witnessed users that have been reported hundreds of times continue to dominate the server with their bots and Inno does absolutely nothing about this practice. This ruins the game for all players and defrauds any players that have paid money to play and expect Inno to enforce their terms. Inno Games is a fraud. Stay away!!!

Expensive free game as everything is geared towards making you spend money. Buyer beware. Get past that and then you find the cheating. Difficult to get past that and the developers and moderators don't even try to fix it - being apparently far more interested in making people spend money than in dealing with the endemic multi accounting, bot usage and auto clicker culture that exists in some guilds. Ruins the game for everyone else but 'hey! chances are the cheaters spend money so we'll just ignore it'.

Having played this game for many years, and having spent real money, I was kind of OK with it until recently when, as a more successful player, I find myself being banned for things I'm supposed to have said, by a moderator who is certainly a player that I've attacked and beaten (in the game), this irritates but what is not fair is that Inno's "Privacy Rules" stop me from knowing what I'm alleged to have said, to whom I've supposedly said it to, or even when I'm supposed to have said it... Furthermore I've just been informed that you can be banned multiple times for the same thing by any player who reports you... (I'm sure NO legal system in the world works like this?) .. Then we have the players with two cities in the same world (called "Alts in the game) which they do nothing about. Their moderator system is grossly unfair, ineffective, and in my opinion corrupt, so my advice is to AVOID INNO GAMES.

This game starts out nicely, but lacks instructions on game play, One builds a decent city over time, creating and accepting friendships that help each other by "motivating" your buildings, or sitting in your Tavern. Without warning, or any mention of such a possibility, players with huge resources, armies, & weapons pounce upon a new player's defenses annihilating them and then "plundering" your resources, unless one "schedules" the availability of "caching" those resources when completed, for example, should one not be available exactly at the time said resources become available, such players are permitted to steal them, unless one is extremely advanced and has acquired "major" defenses to avoid "plundering". A bevy of such players can empty all resource buildings over and over again. For most of such players, this is the real object of this game, which why new players give up after a time and quit the game. The suggestion is: Do not start playing and let these fools "plunder" each other until, one by one, they lose interest. Most have been playing for years and this is not a game for beginners.

This is a terrible game. It basically forces you to log in and play every day, and take part in massively time-consuming events to get anywhere. They give you a small play area as standard, then get you to pay real money to expand. And it's not cheap. I chucked over $200 at it before realising what a massive money-pit this game is. Don't get **** in. If you're bored, buy a PC game - it will be way cheaper in the long run, and you can play it when you like. I spoke to people on there with high rankings who had poured thousands into the game. For that money you could buy a new PC, a PS and an XBox and still have change! Avoid at all costs (and the costs will be high)

Turning into pay (too much) to play. Inno has destroyed a good game. Foe tricks you into investing time, then switches rules so you either have to rebuild your city (which takes weeks) or pay real cash to keep advancing. Turning into a total rip-off. There's a lot better choices out there. I've played for 3 years, invested almost 800 real dollars over that time to build up my cities. Inno just introduced a change that has essentially destroyed all that work and effort. It has become a game solely focused on meeting the needs of players who can spend hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars. Go on the game forums and read the posts about "abortable Quests" and see the anger and disgust from the many players who faithfully supported Inno for years, only to be crapped on.

Yes this 'free game' constantly tries to sell you 'diamonds' for real cash (and does so more and more each year) but despite what other reviews say, you don't need to spend a penny to do well. Biggest problem is the inadequate server - serious lags and delays at times particularly at 8pm UK time which is the critical time for GvG. GvG is the real time battling part of the game. It used to be the most important and fun part of the game but has always suffered from an inadequate server. Despite 1000s of complaints, Inno have not solved the problem and have now definitely given up on it. Which is very frustrating for long term players who have invested 1000s of hours and effort trying to do well. Instead, Inno has now created several new add-on features and games (mainly aimed at selling diamonds) instead of just fixing the problems. The game has now just become a joke of it's former self. Sad.

One of the most abusive in game platforms I've ever encountered. Stay **** - better yet Run Away. The game allows users to be abused by players who employ numerous alts, which is also allowed. It is the "BAIT and SWITCH" game of the year, total scam. Don't waste your time or money on this game unless you enjoy being verbally trashed daily, hourly, day after day. Keep Your Children away from this platform.

This is a slow rich and complex long-term strategy game for patient players who value relationship building with their guildies! Graphics are essentially static. The game is free, and there is no need to pay at all - unless you are impatient and want to rush. I've been playing for 2 years now, and have not bought anything, or even wanted to. It's a browser-based game, and intiially seems somewhat like a cross between Civilization and Farmville. It is annoyingly click-based at first, but soon becomes nicely and surprisingly complex. As I advanced, new methods of playing became apparent. It is a game to play for 2-hours per day for perhaps 5 years, during which time it steadily progresses, and your game style will adapt too. My favourite!

I have reported the worst cheaters in the game. I KNOW they cheat. They tell me how they do it. Their IP addresses are the same for multiple accounts and yet, Inno does nothing. It seems as long as you're a paying player, you can cheat all the time and no one cares. The main cheating is done by having multiple accounts on the same world and using those accounts for the benefit of the main player's city and the guild they run. They even banned the worst two for cheating when they caught them cheating a couple of years ago, then they let them come back. They both cheat now more than they did back then. Nothing happens to them. The developers and support personnel do not care.

FOE "The only way to win is not to play"
User Rating: 1 | Forge of Empires PC
By jdefdolnet | Review Date: December 4, 2019
The game play is likeable, even addictive, but 2 major faults mean that "The only way to win is not to play." Most of the following, you don't find out until after several months of game play. I very much regret investing money and months of time into Forge of Empires. Fault 1. Bullying!! Other players can attack your city and " plunder". Attackers have been playing longer and have attack buffs of PLUS 300%; they do 4 hits damage for each hit you give. The battles are not remotely fair fights. So "plundering" is just stealing and repetitive plundering is bullying. Complaints to "Support" got the reply, "It's part of the game... try making friends with the attacker or by giving... " (I.e., **** up to the bully!). Fault 2. Expense, in real money! The game *can* be played without spending real money, but you have a 2% chance of succeeding, or it takes 4-14 days that would take 4 minutes if you are willing to spend $1 to $7 (several times per day)! Part of the expense is that the random rolls aren't random. To finish a 20 day quest series, I needed to roll a total of 16; roll outcomes were 1, 2 or 3. Multiple rolls *should* average to 2 each; it should have taken 8 rolls, give or take, to total to 16. In 12 rolls, I got 11 ones and 1 two. Statistically, the odds of that happening are about 4 in 1,000,000. I had to give up after 20 days, or spend real U.S. dollars to get more rolls.

Not recommended for any new players. Now that the game has been established, old players plunder new players and drive all new players out. If any new player spends money on the game, they are then driven out and any money they’ve spent is just gone. A scam for new players, so not recommended at all for any new players.

Boring, ugly, and expensive. Basically a scam. Avoid. The game starts with you building a city, however you basically can't do anything without forking over tons and tons of cash. If you make a few million a year and are OK spending 50-100k USD on a game then maybe it's for you, for the other 99% of us this "game" is TERRIBLE.

This game is a waste of time it starts free but to get anywhere you have to buy diamonds. And as soon as you get to a decent level other high ranking players will start jumping you for cheap points. These are people with massive resources so you will not be able to stand up to them or retaliate. My suggestion find a better game and don't believe the hype I wasted to much time on it myself. I am just glad I learned what it really was before I put any money into it.

Forge of empires is a great game. I have been playing this game from the start going into the fifth year. One aspect of the game is guild vs guild, this has been the most fun part of the game imo. But innogames ignores the fact that this part of the game has been wrecked performance wise. People have been asking innogames to fix this for over 2 years. In my opinion this is a bad way of treating your gamers. I hope they will start to listen en do something about this.

Either pay for diamonds or die of boredom while clicking for content. Every aspect of the game is geared towards **** dollars out of your purses and wallets. It has nice graphics for a browser game tho...

Forge of Empires, by InnoGames, is advertised as a "free" game. However, unless you want to wait literally YEARS to get anywhere in the game, you have to buy the in-game currency, called diamonds, for real money. And, diamonds are EXPENSIVE, with packages costing from US$10 to $80. For $80, you get 10,000 diamonds. To give you an example of costs, one building costs about 6,000 diamonds. It often costs between 45 and 200 diamonds to heal your troops (or you lose them) after a single fight. Getting premium items costs 500 to 900 diamonds. With using diamonds, it can take you YEARS to get through to the final levels of the game, because every time you pass a level, things take longer and cost more and more. And, if you don't have lots of diamonds, you can't progress, and you can't do many of the essential things to progress. I spent about US$2,000 playing the game, mainly as research to see what it takes, and to get an idea of the game play for a potential competing game that will not cost so much money. I was shocked. $2,000 got me only about 60% through the game. I got super tired of the repetitive tasks and nature of the game (each level is just a repeat of the prior **** "farm" goods, but just different (and more costly) goods each level, and you build fighting troops each level. **** deal. So I finally spoke my mind in the game's forum, and criticized how expensive it is, and how InnoGames makes anything that is fun in the game cost diamonds (aka, real money). They think very carefully about how to extract the most real money from players. Within 12 hours of the time I made that post, they shut my account down. I guess InnoGames, a German company, has not heard of the concept of free speech. The game is a huge waste of time, and an expensive one. Any xBox One game is way more fun, has way better graphics, and you buy it once for $60 or so, and you don't have to keep feeding it more money. Get a new game on a gaming console, and have fun, and definitely skip Forge of Empires!

First thing this game pushes you to use diamonds at almost every turn. It is not necessary to, but your progress will be very slow and will probably be painful. If you do spend $$$ you probably would need to spend 1000+ to really see results. Graphics are decent for a game like this so I don't really have any negatives to say about this. Gameplay has a lot of good things going for it, but also a lot of bad. The turn based battles involve some thought and strategy to it. If you are a good strategist you can take on a city an age or two higher than your current age and win if they don't have decent defenses. Currently there are four game modes world map where you fight npc opponents, Guild vs Guild where you and your guild fight other guilds for territory, the expedition where you can send your troops to fight to gain prizes for you and your guild and last your neighborhood where you can aid or attack other players. If you choose the latter route and win you get the option to plunder a building. Sometimes you can plunder it right away other times you need to wait a while til you get the option. The neighborhood system isn't really the best. You can be put into a hood with someone with tanks while you are still using swords or if you are lucky it could be the other way around. Players have complained about this problem and a lot of other ones for years and the Devs have consistently ignored the complaints. Communication options could be better. You have a Global chat bar with guild and neighborhood tabs under it that you can use to communicate with other players. A messaging system that you can use to talk to your guild or an individual player, but it seems very wonky. Overall I think FOE is alright looking game run by lousy devs that don't really care about their players. Most of the negative reviews on here are still true today because the devs don't really listen and just listen half heartedly to make it seem like they care. If you want to play it go ahead, but I wouldn't recommend spending my money or too much time in this game.

I clicked in just to humor it and it turns out to be a strategy game. these guys are **** losers to go that low to get people. isn't something like that illegal?

Every game I evaluate starts with a 10/10 and I work backwards to the final score. First I'm evaluating this game for what it is. A browser based game. This means I put less emphasis on Graphics, depth of play and Sound. The reason: It's a browser based game.... Nuff said. Graphics: Again It's a browser based game. I've seen slightly better and worse in browser games. Effect on score 0 Sound. Not too bad actually. I had the sound on for a while when I started playing before I set it to mute (Because I play this game while I do boring paper work in my home office) Score +1 Gameplay: This game is quite good. There is a PvP aspect but it is optional. There's a significant singleplayer part which is awesome. You can't lose everything you sunk your time into to another player and the game doesn't reset. +1 Progression: The Pay-wall... Always a negative. It's not as bad as in other games, but the limited space and how the game kinda sorta wants to force you to use (diamonds) to pay to get extra space... I saw this as a kind of negative... It **** to be in an age and literally run out of the ability to build stuff because you don't have enough space to make it work.. also a REALLY frustrating part is getting Blueprints for Great Buildings. There's a RNG component to it and it seems rigged.... You need 1 of each copy of 9 to build the building... and through the RNG I've had 6-9 of each copy except 1 is at ZERO... I've had this happen to 3 Great Buildings... So the frustration of this is a -3 to the score all things considered. Social. Not so good... The messaging system is kinda poorly designed. You can't tell who is actively online unless they send a message or talk and they can't see if you're online. The Live-chat is ok... but kinda limited as well. Score -2 Design: The game is well designed and flows well. It's unique in the Browser based games : Score +1 It's worth playing. It does kill time, and paying isn't ABSOLUTELY necessary but the RNG is frustrating. They could work on the social aspect a little as it's a draw back and even with good IRL friends we end up talking on Facebook and not in the game

Free to play, but extremely expensive to be competitive. All of the good ("premium") buildings cost real money. You need to spend $200+ to advance very far. On the plus side: the graphics are nice.

This game is all but the fake. Do not play this game with no money, Need thousand dollars to play it in the low level. Raising price for expansion, buildings so they push you to buy their stupid diamonds.
