Escape from Duckov is a brilliant, witty, and incredibly addictive experience. It's a must-play not only for Tarkov fans looking for a fresh perspective on the familiar torment, but also for anyone who appreciates deep, systemic games with impeccable game design. It's a loud and clear signal to the entire industry: the future of the genre lies in manageable difficulty, respect for players and their time, and a willingness to embrace bold experiments, even if they start with a joke about ducks.

Escape From Duckov transforms the intensity of extraction shooters into a brilliant and surprisingly solid parody. Behind the ironic nature of armed ducks lies mature, well-balanced gameplay, capable of blending accessibility and tension, lightheartedness and constant stimulation. The loop between raids, extraction, and progression works brilliantly, aided by a pace you're solely responsible for and a refined technical package. If you can't live without competing against other players or don't like the idea of grinding in the later stages, it might leave a bitter aftertaste, but it remains a fresh, intelligent, and characterful experience, recommended for everyone, especially anyone drawn to extraction games but steers clear of them due to the PvP component.

Escape from Duckov is one of those rare games that looks silly at first glance and then completely hooks you once you start playing. Beneath its charming, cartoon-style presentation lies a surprisingly deep, tense, and brilliantly designed extraction shooter experience. What makes the game so addictive is its core gameplay loop. Every run matters. Every decision when to push forward, when to retreat, what to loot, what to risk creates constant tension. The “just one more run” feeling is incredibly strong because progress always feels earned, not handed out. You learn from mistakes, adapt your playstyle, and slowly master the systems. The contrast between visuals and mechanics is genius. Cute duck characters lower the barrier of entry, but the gameplay itself is tactical, punishing, and rewarding. It manages to be approachable without being shallow something many hardcore extraction games fail to do. The progression system is another highlight. Upgrading gear, unlocking new options, and managing resources gives the game long-term motivation. Even failed runs teach you something, and success feels genuinely satisfying. Enemy encounters are intense, positioning matters, and the risk-reward balance is spot on. The game respects the player’s intelligence and never feels unfair when you fail, it’s usually on you, and that’s exactly why it works so well. While currently a single-player experience, the game stands strong on its own. The atmosphere, pacing, and gameplay systems are so well designed that multiplayer almost feels unnecessary , though the community clearly wants it. Escape from Duckov proves that originality doesn’t always come from reinventing the genre, but from refining it with smart design, strong pacing, and personality. It’s fun, tense, addictive, and incredibly memorable.

Not surprised it was a Chinese team with a small budget making such game full of depth and fun. The fact that just 5 devs can make such a game that WORKS is incredible.

Escape From Duckov is one of the most bizarre and successful surprises on the indie scene in 2025, a title capable of making you smile and suffer at the same time. The gameplay loop works, and despite a few issues that make progression a bit slow, it's hard to put down every single session. Despite its minor flaws, this is a title that anyone who appreciates the genre should try, especially considering its future evolution through free updates and mods.

The long-overdue field test of a lighthearted extraction shooter that replaces PvP with tactical duck shootouts. Lots of fun.

Worth Playing
Escape From Duckov is a pleasant surprise provided you have the patience for it. The focus on solo play for an extraction shooter relieves the game of any obvious griefing from overly ambitious players. The slow progression may irk those looking for constant action, but it also will please those players who appreciate being surprised by tense standoffs that start and end quickly. Even if the concept may have started out as a joke, the game shows that it can take itself seriously and provide an enjoyable experience. Unless you absolutely need native controller support, Escape from Duckov is a game worth checking out if you've always been interested in the extraction shooter concept but want to do so without real people constantly hunting you down.

Escape From Duckov does a lot right while keeping an adorable identity, but it demands too much time without offering enough thrills in return. The game's biggest failings come from being inspired by a title that is fundamentally a bad game that somehow works in spite of its design, not because of it. If the game had taken notes from Escape From Tarkov's atmosphere but fundamentally changed the quest design at the very least, it would have been a hit. For now, Duckov is a lovely tribute with fun moments that overstays its welcome, but its generous price tag will get you your money's worth.

But Why Tho?
As a purely single-player experience, it feels like a solid introduction to the extraction shooter genre, but even the cute ducks can’t save Escape from Duckov from feeling like a chore.

The game did a great job of making players satisfied after each campaign. There are some memes and jokes that may only serve Chinese players, but the game still captures the core fascinating part of these search-hit-survive-retreat games.

Escape from Duckov is a shock hit in the extraction shooter top-down, PvE-only experience that blends tactical combat, deep progression, and addictive risk-reward gameplay. You scavenge, craft, upgrade, and survive across multiple maps where every death costs your gear, creating unmatched tension. Its base-building bunker system, quest vendors, skill trees, and crafting upgrades add long-term depth rarely seen in indie titles. Gunplay feels weighty and smart thanks to a line-of-sight mechanic that demands positioning and awareness. With 50+ weapons, meaningful customization, and full Steam Workshop support, its an indie marvel that rewards both skill and strategy. Despite being single-player only for now, Escape from Duckov succeeds where many fail offering all the intensity of Tarkov without the PvP frustration. Accessible, tense, and endlessly replayable, its one of the best surprises of the year and a must-play for shooter fans.

Absolute masterpiece ****. It takes the things Tarkov does, and makes them simpler, less tedious, and more rewarding. Gameplay is addicting and satisfying.
