It is a good Dragon Ball Z game; it explains quite well all the important events of Z, and the combat system is very good. However, even if the Nintendo Switch port is very good, the loading times are insanely long, and if you want to complete all the missions, you usually have to travel between different zones, which is really tiring to wait that long so many times. Even with that, the game is still really good.

I feel like most people going into this expect this to be the jack of all trades of Dragon Ball games. With the open world setting, all of the unique combat mechanics, and seemingly endless extra content, you'd think this game would be the talk of the town, at least with anime fans. But behind all of that flash, lies an unpolished and sometimes boring action RPG. Despite a lot of thought being put into the battle system, I never felt a sense of dread during any of the boss fights. Because it's so easy to buy healing items in bulk, I was basically guaranteed to win every encounter, as long as avoided taking too much damage, and I was playing this game on hard difficulty for my entire play through. Seriously, by the time I unlocked Vegeta's "Big Bang Attack", even the secret boss fights proved to be pushovers. I can't believe this game was teen rated. This game makes PokePark look challenging. On top of that, despite this game covering the events of the legendary Dragon Ball Z manga, a story famous for it's dramatic and engaging fight scenes, I found the build up to the boss fights to be pretty weak. While the cutscenes within the boss fights look pretty awesome, the cutscenes leading up to the encounters are really weak. Consisting mostly of static 3D models barely showing any body language or unique expressions. I'm a big fan of the original story, so I was disappointed to discover that about seventy percent of this game was littered with these ugly transitions. And to make matters worse, all of the blood and gore from the original story, had been censored. Really dampening the drama in the more intense portions of the adventure. Xenoverse 2 came out four years prior and had far more engaging cutscenes utilizing blood and big expressions, so what's going on here? Why does it look like this game is half asleep? I think the most enjoyment players will get out of this, will be from freely exploring the open world and just goofing off. Because is no Kingdom Hearts. Not an awful game by any means, but I definitely had a lot more fun playing Xenoverse 2.

Awful. Extremely repetitive and simplistic combat (mash 2 buttons and you win), the overworld is barren, and side quests are a joke to complete with mediocre rewards for finishing them. The retelling of DBZ’s story through its cutscenes is the game’s only saving grace, and even then watching the original anime would offer a much better experience than having to trudge this game’s poor excuse for gameplay, at least in my opinion from having watched DBZ in full.

10 out of 10 the best Dragon Ball game the perfect balance between open world fighting and story that makes you remember the story of Dragon Ball Z from beginning to end

It does not have DLC of the tournament of the universe 6 vs universe 7. It does not have DLC of the episodes of Zamasu's arc. The tournament of the power was not included as well. The game is decently good thing reminded me of Zelda Breath of the Wild in the open world but more in the style of the Dragon Ball Z story I feel the battle system is regular compared to my experience playing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 on my friend's PC. It's tedious when the enemy is invulnerable with a red aura and sends me flying at every turn. Regularly fine. I loved the exploration much more than the battles but the battles were regularly good. Story based on the manga/anime with an additional DLC add-on. is okay. Not bad. I just expected more additional content based on the aforementioned. 6.8/10 It's my rate.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, it may not have the best fighting system but the way it tells the story is what makes it stand out and be different from other games in the franchise.

Played it on release. Amazing for old geeks in love with the series, and at the same time for those being introduced to it. Replaying it now, with all the dlc, it's even more amazing. The future Trunks series brings an amazing, true to the lore adition. Wish Hollywood would have done this story instead of the **** we got as a movie .

Ok, the game has some flaws, but it's still one of the best Dragon Ball series games I've played. What drew me to it was a nostalgic memory of a pleasant experience I had on the Super Nintendo with Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu.I don't like the Budokai series focused on fighting, and as a big RPG fan, I couldn't miss this opportunity.Without further ado, let's move on to the analysisThe gameplay is intuitive, the battles, although repetitive, are enjoyable and offer a good level of challenge. For long-time fans like me, it's very enjoyable to revisit the entire series in a playable form again. The extra content also adds value, and the open-world idea wrapped it up well.Cons:Although I praised the idea of an open world, it's undeniable that it is quite limited, the possible interactions are not many compared to current generation games, and they are quite repetitive. A particularly annoying factor and the main reason I deducted points from this game was the absurd amount of loading times. Yes, in 2024 I had to play a game where every map transition (which you need to do all the time) requires endless waiting for loads. And it's not an exaggeration; they really take a long time, so much so that I played with my phone in hand to look at something and not get too bored while waiting for some transitions. This is really annoying and significantly impacted my experience.Overall, I found it to be a very good game and recommend it, especially for fans of the series and the RPG genre.

Top 10 worst game to ever exist. DBZ is a great animation waiting on a good fun simple game. This is not it. Another garabge DBZ game.

Hot garbage. Is nothing but a button-mash heavy Fighting game in RPG drag, and not even close to how good Budokai was. Unless you have no job and thousands of hours to grind, stay away from this game.

While the overworld could use some more stuff to do than fight the same mobs over and over the story more than makes up for it, the porting job has been impressive with little visual downgrade and no hit on performance.

Without a doubt the story is absolutely amazing despite how many times I have seen it. Game itself is great but not perfect at all. The main issue is definitely to much loading screens... In only one cutscenes you can have 3 loading screens! It's ridiculous! Every time when game switch location it force you to staring at loading screen and you will be staring at it a lot. Apart from that, mechanics and movement are sometimes very irritating and world although it's big and very well made is little bit empty. It's must play for every dragon Ball fan! But not necessarily for anyone who don't know the series.

Masterpiece.

While I’ve never been much of a Dragon Ball Z fan, I had some interest in this title after playing the excellent fighting game that graced the Switch a while ago. Playing Kakarot, the main thing that struck me quickly was the kitchen-sink sort of approach to the gameplay elements, and unfortunately that isn’t a compliment. Weirdly, as well as the fighting worked in the previous title, the dodgier take on combat in this iteration is bit baffling but then a melange of other varied what would best be called mini games serve as filling as you move through the story as well. Sure, as you go you’ll continue to take on more characters from the series and follow some side stories, which is cool, but so many of the gameplay beats range from ordinary to "Meh" that it feels like the story should have been paired with a reduced number of activities that were better fleshed out than they are in this somewhat unusual outing. There’s a fair amount of content here for franchise fans to take in (especially since almost all of the original title's DLC is included) if you don’t mind some stumbles, but I’d say the best bet would be to walk into this experience with your expectations in check to help minimize disappointment with a somewhat uneven experience. ****/2021/09/mini-reviews-september-24th-edition.html

Thus, Bandai Namco and the developers from CyberConnect2 created a playful and comprehensive title for newcomers and especially for fans of the series with the new version of "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot". The storyline with the numerous characters and pretty cutscenes is neatly told and provides good entertainment for the most part. The excitingly staged battles are always a joy thanks to the simple controls and only gradually become rather one-sided. In addition, the various approaches in the course of the game, such as cooking and hunting, cut a good figure and loosen up the gameplay enormously. The implementation for the Nintendo Switch is also really fun and the new content is also convincing. Those who would like to have another interesting game of the well-known series should definitely take a closer look at "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" for the Nintendo console.
