Doom remained young at heart. (...) Doom´s speed, the simple but highly energetic movement, its wicked and labyrinthine levels are something that no Call of Duty, no Halo, no Killzone, not even a RAGE can offer.

This Xbox 360 version of the game stays mostly faithful to the original, and it holds up well after all these years.

At the time this was released, it blew people's minds and nearly everyone played it. The innovation doesn't hold a candle to today's games, but it carries over nicely as an Arcade title.

This would have been a ho-hum port of a game that's already been ported to at least a dozen platforms over the years, but it's DOOM's online action which really makes it soar.

Still brilliant, even by today's standards. [Dec 2006, p.99]

Doom is the rarest of retro games, in that you can enjoy it just as much as you did when it was first released. Better still, you can appreciate it with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, and see not only how enormously influential it is, but how perfect its design was from the very beginning.

A must-have classic. If you consider yourself a shooter fan, you simply must get this game.

Modern gamers who like to aim up and enter stealth mode will probably turn their nose up at it. Whereas all you gamers in your 20s are probably playing as we type. Now we just want "Doom II."

Online play -- including both co-op and the deathmatches that made Doom such a phenomenon in the first place -- can hardly even be considered "play." The lag is unbearable, the framerate excruciating. Aiming is nearly impossible.

This is the game that singlehandedly changed gaming forever, and the Playstation 4 version might be the best yet, it's graphics are finally clear enough to actually tell whats blood or not and the music has two options to choose from, remastered, or orignal. The game has Amazing controls too, and the game is so low poly that it is very easy for your Playstation to run smoothly for it. Get DOOM!

It's DOOM. The gameplay has stood the test of time, even if it has been surpassed in every way by now. I wish I could rate it higher but the later episodes do drop in quality, with obtuse puzzles and the only real challenge being just how many demons the game devs can cram into each room.

this port is really funny, they just slapped the dos version onto xbla and the bfg edition without any improvements plus, the music is at half speed! how does that happen?
Summary[Xbox Live Arcade] Originally released in 1993, DOOM introduced millions to the white-knuckle excitement of the First Person Shooter. Relive the classic demon-blasting action, now with up to four players over Xbox Live, 5.1 Surround Sound, and smoother graphics. You're a Marine stationed on Mars when a military experiment goes wrong. Yo... Read More
