Value: 18/20 (I only paid $35)
Graphics: 11/20 (combat looks good, nothing else does)
Story 10/20 (Boring text of dialog)
Gameplay 15/20 (addictive)
Level Design 6/20 (just awful) I only like Digivolving, the combat (even though its too easy), and the animations when fighting

The game is for the most part boring with the only redeeming quality being the evolution system but it is prone to some creatures having weird options like a dinosaur not being able to become a similar dragon but can become a cactus

Such a disappointment after playing through Time Stranger. I also felt the LGBT rep was incredibly weak as the LGBT female lead only had one conversation with their love interest per game. Not to mention the fact the game forces you to say "just kidding" when you can confess feeling for a same sex character.

The game just not for me, the game graphics are pretty mediocre and the gameplay feels like watered down Shin Megami Tensei.

The gameplay isn't the best and felt like an alpha for time stranger. That characters were also boring with little time for them to develop. Arata was also noteworthy for being extremely annoying :(

Ill definately be coming back to this game for years to come, botg the stories are rich and have nice overlaps along the main plot and each has its own indepemded qualities like the team battles in HM which could almost have been a game in its own right. Deffinatly a top game but the online pvp kinda lets it down

I started playing because of the Digimons, but I finished it because of the great story, gameplay, and incredible dialogue (I love you, GaruruGreymon). I confess that at first I played just because I was a fan of the franchise, but damn, the game has a well-written and competent story. Even the subplots are well crafted! The gameplay is really cool, with mechanics that let you explore your creativity in turn-based combat. My only criticism is about the game's weak start. It's discouraging to have to go to Kowloon all the time to see the same completely boring scenarios to do the missions. I myself quit the game the first time I played it because of that. I confess that I ended up grinding a lot in this game. I really wanted to beat the game with some cool Digimons that I really like. In fact, this grinding made the end of the game very easy. I should have changed the difficulty to enjoy it more.

Pretty fun and a dark story for a chillds franchise.
Both parts deserved to be played.
The only issue is the lack of environments and interaction

I would love to rate this game higher because the gameplay is amazing, the digimon models look great, and the animations are very well done however… the amount of boring dialogue in Cyber Sleuth is enough for me to knock my score down, from what would be an 8, to a 7. I get it, it’s a visual novel and it’s a JRPG, and JRPG’s are generally text heavy to begin with, but most of the dialogue in cyber sleuth is so meaningless, repetitive, boring and there’s no way to skip any of it other than mindlessly mashing the A button until it’s over. The writing for the dialogue is much better in Hackers Memory but it’s so trite, very lackluster, and there’s to much of it in cyber sleuth. If there was an option to skip the dialogue more quickly then I would rate this higher but it just has way too much meaningless text that I struggle to even stay awake through it.

Pretty good game, it has good story and cool caracters, cool combat sistem and easy to understand evolution. Cyber sleuth was more intresting to me then hacker memory and the biggest downs side is that they look same to me and to blue.

Overall I'll give it an 8.
The first game is a 7.5 but the second one is better with a solid 8/10.

story: painfully slow, doesn't get going until about chapter 10 (20 chapters total). interesting story bits are few and far between and get swiftly interrupted by so-called "main cases", which don't progress the story at all and seemingly only exist to increase playtime gameplay: divided into solving cases and battling solving cases: incredibly repetitive fetch-style quests ranging from "talk to one or more npcs" to "enter dungeon, defeat one digimon". all cases ultimately boil down to "go there, now go there, then go there". occasionally interesting side stories, that one however likely can't be bothered to read, given how many damn textboxes the main story alone throws your way. overall, cases are generally an uninteresting slog solely existing to increase playtime, but fortunately, most are entirely optional battling: combat system is laughably shallow; somehow less intricate than mainline Pokemon. combat basically devolves into using a skill that doubles the damage of your next attack (if your digimon has even learned that skill) and then unleashing your strongest attack. rinse and repeat. there are various other skills, including buffing skills, but most of them are so poorly balanced (read as: weak) that there's hardly ever a point in using them. some boss enemies have so overtuned defense stats that you basically NEED specific digimon with defense-bypassing attacks if you don't wanna slowly grind away at a singular enemy for more than 10 minutes. I personally had more fun grinding out digimon and getting good skills for them than I had interacting with the main story, or even the main gameplay loop.
I don't understand how anyone could, in good faith, rate this game higher than an 8, for every aspect of it is either lackluster, not fun or blatant playtime padding. if you want an RPG with a satisfying/engaging/entertaining/interesting/deep combat system, I strongly advise looking elsewhere

The story is pretty good in both Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory and they are almost completely separate stories that interconnect at specific points you should play both to get the full story of both games I suggest you start with Cyber Sleuth and move onto Hackers Memory Gameplay this is a turn based JRPG and I don't you start with this game if your new to the genre but if you like Pokémon and want something more challenging this would be a good choice as you can evolve and devolve and there is a rock, paper, scissors style of combat kind of like Pokémon but the game doesn't properly explain some things such as how to equip equipment or that you can teleport back to the entrance of a dungeon you will also repeatedly revisit certain locations sometimes in the same chapter which makes them really repetitive Characters I found some of the characters really annoying in the game in Cyber Sleuth it was Nokia and in the beginning of Hackers Memory it was Wormmon but for the most part I did like characters especially in Hackers Memory overall I highly suggest this game if you either love Digimon and want to get into the games or you love JRPGs and are looking for a new one to play but this isnt a game for beginners to the genre

I just finished cyber sleuth after a good month and my god the game is huge. I liked the story a lot the royal knights but the last chapter could've been better. Havent had such a blast with a game in a long time and surprised to see this many bad reviews. I can recommend this game on switch, because your digimon keep levelling in the farm if your switch is tunred off. Neat advantage to the PC version.

Two of the best catching-monsters JRPGs ever made in my humble opinion. The artistic stylization is wonderful, the characters and the story is catching and, although it's told slowly, it's quite interesting. The combat system is well-made and fun, even if not wonderful, and the overall mechanics are innovative although not getting too far away from the classical ideas of the Digimon Story series. The only issue I could think of is that getting Hackers Memory as a separate game from the original Cyber Sleuth would feel like too much of the same, but that issue is fixed with this complete edition, as they come together here. If you're tired of the repetitive nature of the Pokemon series or simply want to enjoy a slightly more mature game from a franchise that tried to grow with you instead of stalling, this is your game.

A lot of potential but poor execution. This was one of the most boring games I have played in recent memory. The first 10 chapters was a real grind to get through and although things picked up afterwards, it still ultimately failed to climb out of the proverbial hole. I am convinced removing Nokia and all the trivial non critical quests to instead focus on improving the main story cutscenes (especially the non-cgi parts) would have made a much better, albeit shorter game.

This is the most generous score I can give the games it is pretty bad. Allow me to further explain why. For one, the game has 20 chapters, and it does not truly start until chapter 10. This isn’t even entirely true, since it really starts to begin at chapter 12. The story itself lacks focus, and is all over the place. To add on even more, I ran into movement problems with the game. It also suffers from translation issues, if not it is regular spelling or basic grammar, it is the lack of correct gender identification. More over, most of the characters don’t even have any personality to them, especially the main character. It is just boring. To further explain, there are quests, good right? Well not so much. The game does a terrible job in telling you what to do even with basic quests. I have found myself running around for awhile before completing one. As for main story line, it suffers from this same issue, the game has a problem in identifying where to go next. Even more, the game uses a set single screen, no rotation. What makes this so much of a problem, is that it does not work. The screen does not show enough, which can make both main story, quests, and even exploration a problem. Honestly, this is just plain laziness at this point. Moreover, battles are unbalanced. Even on normal mode, there were enemies that could nuke my near max level monsters. Now going to the monster end of things, needlessly complicated. ABI and CAM in determination for evolution and stat building. Then there is the farm which is a good idea no doubt, but in reality this is the best form of leveling in the early game, which is awful. I spent the first few days just trying to level. The game already moves at a slow enough pace, that was a real terrible decision. Now once I did get exp boosting monsters, it was still not enough until near the end of the game. Almost completely destroying the point of getting them in the first place. Now it does have a few perks. For instance, you can reset your stat allocation points with some item, here is another problem. It is rare to come across, defeating the point of it once again. It appears every step of the way, these developers managed to screw up the basics. They fail around every aspect of the game. Needless to say, this isn’t the worst game I have played, but definitely in the top ten terrible ones. Terrible and annoying story, bad mechanics, horrible quest and tracking system. Everything feeling slow and a grind, etc. It is not enjoyable, and honestly, I wouldn’t care if these developers never made another game again. Good riddance, the game is done with, I never want to see it again. Don’t buy this game, it is also really repetitive and slow in battling.

Picked this up because I was a fan of Digimon in my childhood and was hoping for a great nostalgia trip. But even my past affection for the series can't overcome just how boring and long-winded the non-battling parts of this game are. The story manages to be both totally nonsensical and utterly boring at the same time. I would have rated the game higher if there were actually anything engaging about the "detective" portions of the game or the quests. But it's basically just wander, talk, wander, get lost, talk, over and over again for 40 hours. The somewhat redeeming quality of the game is the actual battling, raising, and digi-volving of the Digimon themselves. Unfortunately, just when you start to enjoy that, you're forced back into fetching coffee, wandering around uninventive areas, and talking to an endless parade of NPCs. It's like 30mins of garbage for every 5mins of battling. The 10/10s here must be a joke. You need to be a BIG fan of the series to enjoy this, or totally desperate for a new monster taming game. But for everyone else, just play Pokemon!

Barring maybe **** I have never put so many hours in to a game. I just completed Cybersleuth at 257 hours. I'm probably not gonna play Hacker's Memory as I'm all Digimonned out. So where do I start, poor graphics and animations, strange synth music throughout (which is good though), I don't enjoy menu turn based games and have no history with Digimon shows, games, or anything for that matter. The dialogue is bad, the translations worse. I rarely play anything over a 10-30 hour game. The game does not value your time but somehow, I absolutely loved this game. 0/10 is a totally fair score as is my 10/10. This is a game you're going to love or hate. At a cost of around 10p an hour play time and a lot of fun. I absolutely loved it. I could not tell you why I liked a game where everything is so crap but it is just one of those things where non of it works by itself but as a complete package, it comes together perfectly. Give it a try, you never know.

I don't typically leave reviews, but I noticed that this game had been review bombed. it previously held a respectable 8.0 user score before suddenly being flooded with dozens of scores that didn't leave any review so that the game could intentionally be dragged down. It's sad, but I guess that's how some people are. Anyways, the game is fantastic. The soundtrack is one of the best in Digimon Story history, and the Cyber Sleuth series continues to provide great gameplay with the most interesting story in the series so far. The only drawback to the game for me was that it dragged on just a bit too long at the end and the constant cyber-scenery began to get a bit too repetitive. Other than that, however, these games are truly fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone that likes JRPGs.

Hey, you can just train your Digimon on farm. Put your switch (do not close the app) and yourself on sleep, and the next morning your Digimon would be LV 30+. Once you re on mission, You obliterate your enemy (played in hard mode) in 1 hit or simply put it on auto. That's destroys the purpose of RPG strategy. We've talked about Pokémon being too easy but this is another level. With that aside, you'll have good time especially Digimon and Anime fan. Character is good (anime style). Story is okay. Graphic is okay. Music is good. Everything is just Good/okay but that's the problem with Digimon. Everything is barely changed from games that I've played in original PlayStation 20 years ago. Just better graphic, more Digimon, and gimmick feature that doesn't affect anything. I really hope with the rise of it anime series, Bandai will give Digimon more attention. I would say pick it when on sale for at least 50%, it has 2 games and longevity of 100 hours...

A great edition of Digimon that really shows the potential the series has. As a fan of the shows, I was finally able to enjoy a game of the series that after a little play felt both intuitive and rewarding to understand well. I enjoy the story quite a bit, and truly believe that it shows why Digimon was once considered the biggest competitor of Pokemon. For some, grinding could be a little tedious, but I did not find it to be overwhelming in this game. For fans of monster catching games, the min/maxing of certain Digimon's stats to digivolve could be overwhelming, but for me I felt the payoff was very rewarding.

EDIT: Review bombing by salty nostalgic and/or illiterate fans are coming. Brace yourself. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Complete Edition incorporates two of the best Digimon videogames ever made. Two great interlaced Monster-Rising JRPGs with unique creatures that features a deep story rich of characters. If you're a fan of the Digimon franchise you'll surely enjoy it. Do you like to collect monsters? Heres the right place. You like to lose yourself in the concept of parallel dimensions? Be my guest! Sick of waiting for SMTV? Welp, here you go! (^Seriously tho, so much waiting and I NEED IT)

The story is pretty bad. I'm on chapter 17 (18 total chapters if I'm not mistaken) and been ignoring all the voice acting and just been speed reading the dialogue just so I can finish the game. Especially with the overly cliche characters that has nothing new to add to the table. I had not grown attached to a single character in the game at all. The maps are re-used over and over, there's no feeling of exploration, there's nothing thought-provoking through in-game puzzles/level designs, and don't get me started on the fillers that you have no choice but to go through sometimes just to progress the story. There's an "auto-battle" option in every battle too, which at this point, I'm not complaining about so I can put my attention on other things than the repetitive combat. I love digimon since I was 6 years old but it seems that's where the childish excitement stem from. My girlfriend bought me the game since she knew I've always been a Digimon > Pokemon, but even she got bored watching me play. Its an okay game, but maybe something I would've bought for the 6 year old me, or for a kid's birthday gift.

Well, the game is very good, the story is great makes you feel like a real detective and the characters are good. In gameplay it is an RPG that if you do not put it in hard you probably have no problem even if you insist without thinking and if you put it in hard everything will kill you unless you have a good plan

A very well developed fame in the digimon franchise. The visuals are beautiful, the digimon are numerous and all well animated, the battle system is simple and effective and the story is phenomenal. A truly brilliant game

One of the best RPGs to come out in the past couple years. After the disappointment over Pokemon Sword & Shield I was in the market for a new monster-collecting game to fill the void and this did an excellent job. Excellent story, lovable characters, good monster variety, and a challenging difficulty puts this game high on my JRPG list. Only issues I'd say is that the translation can be somewhat lacking at times, and the lack of dungeon variety resulting in a lot of the same dungeon visuals repeated through most of the game, but these are relatively minor gripes. Despite being a Vita port the game provides console-level quality and is more than worth the $50.

My mouth was on the floor when i realized the vast majority of Digimons in this game have unique signature animations for their attacks. Sometimes each has 3-4 unique and flashy animations! I thought such a task was impossible for a game with 341 different monsters. And then i was surprised again by the story and inspiration from Persona and Shin Megami Tensei games. And is actually good and not a cheap copy! Im speechless because i did not expect this AT ALL! It became my favorite game of the year just like that.

This game is tailor made for those who were (justifiably) upset by the Pokémon Sword and Shield scheme. This is not only a great compilation, it is also a pretty good game in it's own right. You don't only have the opportunity to have 2 rock-solid games for the price of one, but now you can also enjoy some features that were absent from the first "Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth" game (including a considerable amount of new creatures). With the release of 2013's "Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode" (on the 3DS console which unfortunately wasn't released outside of Japan, like its predecessor) Bandai Nanco and the producer Habu Kazumasa made very clear that, although the Digimon franchise doesn't usually tend to release second or third versions ****, a follow up title really does mean bigger and better, taking full advantage of the new console (and the graphics of this game couldn't be more appealing too... with perfectly animated signature moves made from scratch), and that aren't just made to cash grab its fan base. This is a great oportinity to enjoy a fantastic JRPG on the Switch (until Pokémon decides to stop being so lazy), which isn't afraid to touch some mature topics every once in a while to show respect to its young adult fanbase.

I loved the story and game play. There were hours of enjoyment and entertainment with both games in the complete edition. There were times where I would have to look up where to go on a quest due to lack of detail/information given, but other than that the story was fantastic, the game was cute and charming with its graphics, and the characters all were unique and easy to like or dislike.

It's the best monster catching/raising rpg of this generation. Especially with how much of a dud Pokemon Sword and Shield is. This game has a much better story and gameplay. Even the graphics and animations are better, despite being a PS Vita port. Good video game.

Digimon seems to have finally found its footing with this title. Making each of your series distinct is a good approach to keep things in order, and the gameplay is a wonderful mix of old-school turnbased systems, monster taming, and difficulty. Newer players to the franchise can find a good start here and those well versed in the likes of SMT or turnbased FF titles will have a joy on hard mode. Digimon respects your intelligence level while also easing you in appropriately to its systems. It can be a bit grindy for some, but RPGs are meant to be games where you work for your reward. If you're looking for a walkie-talkie scenery game, this isn't it.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition is a game with game play similar to the Persona games. This is 2 games in one with each game being 40 to 60 hours of game play. It does 2 things that I think it does better than its other monster taming counterparts. One, my brother and I both felt like the grinding in this game to be fun and not taxing, but others might beg to differ. And two, the story of the game. Unlike other games, like Pokemon, it really can't be summed up in one or two sentences. The characters have arcs and, at least some to at most, good personalities to them. If someone thinks about getting into the Digimon franchise, I highly recommend playing this game.

One of the best monster rpgs out their. Rivaling Pokemon in quality and content. Digimon Cyber Sleuth is a fun and engaging game. It has hundreds of creatures you can collect and raise. The turn based combat is fast paced and deep. It has beautiful cel shaded graphics with highly detailed textures. The Digifarm and Digiline features make your creatures feel like allies rather than tools. You can train and customize your creatures to bring out the best in them. A must have for fans of either Digimon, Monster RPGs, or Turn based rpg's,
