There's a bit of personality and charm in this adventure, but it still lacks a beating heart under the façade of hilarity and bright colours.
A good start for the Deponia trilogy, this title has many cards in its sleeve but suffers for its indecision between the old and new approach to game adventure genre.
The only think we can ask for is a sequel. Recommended for everyone interested in the genre, with great puzzles and sense of humor. It offers a classic, challenging gameplay, which should be enough to keep fans of the adventures games playing till they finish it.

Definitely isn't my type of game, but I think it would be a pretty engaging game and something I would've enjoyed as a kid. However, with it being a bit darker themes, I wouldn't know if you should let a kid play this. This game functions as one of those click everything on your screen games to see what happens. There is witty narration which attempts to succeed with light humor (not laughing) type comedy every clip, which are hit or misses. You need to combine various items you get to make new things as a steampunk tinkerer. And lastly it is a poor man rich lady romance.

A fantastic adventure game, featuring some extremely intelligent riddles that require deep thinking. At the same time, it narrates a beautiful story, one that takes place in a setting very different than those of most games. [September 2012]

One of the best example of point and click adventure of the last years, made by the award-winning German studios Daedalic Entertainment. Recommended to all fans of the genre and lovers of LucasArts classics.

The best and funniest quest of all that I played. Excellent plot and excellent love story. Rufus and Goal forever.

This title, as well as all the other ones in the saga share a handful of characteristics that make them the best modern-era point-and-click games, they are: -A protagonist which is both very charming and a complete idiot -Incredibly gorgeous artwork -Very good plot (although I gotta say the end of the whole saga is rather dissapointing) -Beautifully crafted puzzles which are very satisfying to complete -Very well-made character personalities (Lottie, Toni, Bozo, Cletus and McChronicle to name just a few) -Really good ambientation, both in the post-apocalyptic Deponia as in the utopic Elysium -Rufus and Goal make a pretty silly and somewhat adorable couple I honestly find no way in which any human being could play Deponia and not enjoy it other than if they dislike point-and-click adventure games as a whole.

This is a great classic adventure game that's maybe suffering from the old mechanics, but still it manages to hide its flaws by showing beautiful hand-drawn graphics and great humour.

You´ve got to hand it to Daedalic: They know, what an expertly crafted point and click adventure has to look like. Veterans of the genre and newcomers alike can give this one a go without hesitation, especially considering the low price tag.

Not bad, but far more likely to be remembered for its stunning artwork than for its plot or puzzles. [Oct 2012, p.74]

Deponia's saved from being worse than Yesterday by at least having a simple understandable storyline and by not taking itself too seriously, but that's not saying much.

I'm going to take a seriously different approach to this review since most people complain about the ending and the main character(Rufus). -Rufus isn't a horrible, hes just quite frank a blubbering idiot, who is full of himself and does the right thing when it counts he was never an angel, but this makes him a more realistic character, who did the right thing in the end -the game is beautiful and has a great art-style -the story was a bit lacking in this one -The ending was unsatisfying because they were planning to make a sequel, so they wanted to leave the game open ended -The Puzzles were ridiculously hard to solve, but do-able and you eventually get used to figuring them out(some puzzles had an auto solve option)

Nice concept, the game looks great, from time to time it could be even funny. I was playing this game not in English, thus sometimes it makes it rather complicated to understand what the game wants from me. Even in 2022 the game still has bugs (steam version). In the third chapter, for some reason I haven't had a possibility to take a key from a skeleton. Hopefully reboot helped to deal with this bug. However the NPCs' voices had disappeared completely till the end of the game. I fully misunderstand how in such a short game with a few scripts per each chapter it's possible.

Quem a fez sequer jogou.

SummaryDeponia is a fast-paced comedy of errors and one of the most unusual love stories in gaming history. The twist-filled story takes its off-beat characters all over trash planet Deponia, a unique game world in the style of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Matt Groening. From Kuvaq, an improvised village built inside a giant trash heap, t... Read More
