Worth it for the theme song alone. It's a fun arcade racer that is truly arcade. Lots of Hydro Thunder level of level design and some really cool tracks at that. Tons of goofy vehicles to play through as well that are also fun to use.

A shallow arcade racer with a vibrant coat of paint. The zaniness of seeing dinosaurs and UFOs attack you while racing certainly invokes some nostalgia, but Cruis'n Blast's shiny coat of paint wears off fast. The game is so devoid of mechanics and skill it almost feels like it plays itself. In fact, it's probably optimal to enable auto-acceleration because there is no need to brake or slow down. Hitting a wall or taking a turn poorly has little affect on you. Some "obstacles" you straight up clip through. Other than drifting and boost, the game offers no in-depth mechanics. You can do stunts like flips and barrel rolls, but they do nothing for you other than rewarding a small amount of cash at the end of the race. With no online play, the limited amount of tracks, some of which just get reused by replacing helicopters with dinosaurs, and the feeling that each race is more of a time trial than an actual race against opponents, this is not a $40 worthy game.

I was so happy that there is another Cruisn game after so many years. It looks great and the first races are awesome, until I realized that are always only the last 2 second of the race decides who will be first. After a while it's very shallow. Great to play with your kids

Cruis'n Blast *is* a blast. No, really. This is pure, unadulterated arcade fun. Anyone can pick it up and learn the basics immediately. This is one of those games that wants you to enjoy every second, and goes absolutely over-the-top with its visuals and gameplay. The quick races are also perfect for the Nintendo Switch itself, as you can get a few rounds in when you have only a few minutes to play on the go. I can't recommend this game enough. Just get it!

This game is not for everyone but it’s definitely a fun play. I think it’s more aimed for the casual gamer or children since it’s not hard. Kinda similar to the old arcade games but with better graphics. Its a fast paced game and you unlock new vehicles including some strange vehicles that i don’t want to say to not spoil the game. It’s a little bit addicting and can’t seem to put it down. It has a very catchy soundtrack. Overall, i had a lot of fun playing the whole game and im an adult that plays all kinds of videogames.

Dreamcast aesthetics, classic arcade formula, doesn’t take itselft seriously. What is not to like? The only thing preventing me giving this game a 9 is the AI rubber banding. Makes for close finishes all the time, sure, but it takes a little too much skill from the equation. Besides that, great arcade racer. Would love to see a sequel.

Can't say that I am a big fan of racing games but this game is fun. Only thing missing is online but with how challenging the game already is, it feels like you are playing against pro players so not a big miss at all.

There's a lack of track variety, but what is here is just sheer fun arcade style racer.

Nein, nicht alle Rinder haben Hörner, hab die Kühe des Präsidenten bei Cruis'n USA überfahren. Cruis'n Blast ist demnach der Abschuss, nur bizarre Momente und lächeln.

When it comes to over-the-top, crazy, and almost excessively arcade-style racing I’m not sure anything out there can quite match the classic Cruis’n series. Cruis’n Blast, rather than looking to make strides to evolve or reinvent itself in any remote way, comes to the Switch fully embracing everything (and I do mean this in the best complimentary way) stupidly ridiculous about its lineage and puts it right in your lap whether you love or hate it. For anyone more remotely interested in realism or tight control mechanics you can just keep moving, this won’t be an experience for you. However, if the thought of racing with your neon-lit and juiced-up triceratops as you plow through your opponents, doing backflips and barrel rolls over ramps along the way, sounds plain AWESOME this will be your jam. The adherence to even goofy-ass things from yesteryear like every car surface being highly reflective, something nobody would ever do now but that was all the rage back in the day, is a sign that this port was made with respect and love. Will it deliver hours of entertainment? That would depend on you and whether your goal is just to “beat the game”, which could take only a few hours, or whether you plan to enjoy unlocking and tricking out everything, **** in the goofiness of it all either solo or with some friends. While not for everyone, I absolutely respect the love and care put in by the developers to honor the essence of Cruis’n, no matter how ridiculous some of it may be to more modern (or simply more “hardcore”) gamers. ****/2021/09/mini-reviews-september-16th-edition.html

This is a fun game! The developers have really focussed all their energy on producing a game that is fast, flashy, and really enjoyable to play in short bursts. Some of the courses feel more like theme park rides than race tracks, and there is a persistent 'over the top' vibe throughout every play through. This is strictly an 'arcade' experience. There isn't much depth to this game, and the novelty will wear off after a few hours, but I feel like I will be coming back to play this semi-regularly, so this is the perfect kind of game to have loaded onto a portable device. If you like the look of the trailer then you should enjoy this game.

It's an arcade game for sure, but I would hesitate to call it a driving game. There is no sensation of the freedom of movement or the physics of car control that comes with driving. It's more akin to a mobile lane-changer or infinite-runner game. In fact, this is basically Out Run with set pieces. Sadly that's not my idea **** time. Its arcade origins shine through in the dazzling set pieces and AI that guarantees close finishes every time, but both these things get old fast.

Great sense of speed and looks good for a switch game. There is no punishment for crashing. If you crash into a bridge you go straight through it and if you go off track, you end up on a parallel track that guides you back on course. With the rubber banding and lack of need to dodge anything, it does feel like there is no skill needed and the player is just along for a roller coaster ride. All you need to do is save your boosts for the last bit of the race and you win. That said, despite the lack of challenge it is pure arcade fun and I enjoyed my 2 hour play through it.

A brilliant arcade racer, if you love old-time racers like Daytona, Sega Rally, Ridge Racer and Outrun 2 then you’ll love this. There’s plenty of replay value too as there are loads of vehicles to unlock and each one can be upgraded. This is absolutely essential if you love arcade racing games.

Like many others, I first played Cruis'n Blast in the arcade. I had so much fun with it and the group I was in and we played a lot of it. The tracks are so visually appealing and well crafted. I was delighted, after spending roughly 50 bucks at the arcade, to see a Switch port for 40 dollars (US). maybe it was the adrenaline, but I bought it when I got home. I have since regretted this purchase. Let me start by saying what I like about this game: The performance is top-notch. 1080p with a very fluid framer ate, and this handles very well in 4 player splitscreen. The vehicle selection is great: lots of licensed car brands but also silly vehicles for variety, though the stats of these cars don't seem to matter very much (more on that later). Customization, too, is really well done. you have all kinds of colors to pick from, and you can add neon and some decals as you progress. Also no microtransactions or lootboxes for any progression! I love that. I mentioned it before, but the track design is simply superb. I didn't like the one-lap model at first but I think it fits well. So now, the negative side of things. This design of this game is so frustrating. I never thought rubberbanding could be so harmful until I played this game. During a race, you are in a roster of 10. You will not see first place until the last 20 seconds of the race, every single time, every single track. It is intentionally designed this way and gets worse when playing with a friend. there is NOTHING you can do to get away from each other. My gf and I tested this. If you're neck and neck with someone, and use your nitro boost (equivalent to a mushroom in MarioKart), you will add no distance between you and the player that's just holding down A. The reason for this is that each track has proximity-triggered events that only happen when all players are near them. That means that if you are going faster than your friend, the game will speed your friend up to make sure they don't fall too far behind. Same goes for the AI: any car below 3rd place is just worthless, any above that is virtually untouchable until the game gives you an opening, which is always the last 20 seconds of the game. So the only viable strategy is to save all your boost for the end. There is no other way to win, regardless of your car's speed or shortcuts you took. obviously, there is a bit more to it than that. you want to make sure you can be as close to first place as possible to have that chance of winning, so shortcuts, jumps/stunts, earning extra boosts can definitely help. but your car's stats? I've found them completely irrelevant. This also makes 2-player splitscreen nearly pointless. You will always be at odds with each other, and never have a chance to outdo the other until you're at the finish line. it is a gameplay loop that is frustratingly and transparently repetitive. My partner and I don't even find it fun to try to beat the cups together, because you have to consistently finish in the highest position to unlock the next cup and your biggest threat to that is the person who wants the exact same thing, so it encourages you to let the other person win. Where is the fun in that after every race plays out the same? Instead of capturing what made the arcade version so good, it reveals just how shallow of an experience it is. The fact there's no online is just absurd. Sure, you couldn't do a full roster, but couldn't they have at least included the 4P mode that already exists?? At the end of the day, this is an arcade racer that wasnt refined for console release. It's perfect to play with your friends if you are all drunk, or if one of your friends really **** at Mario Kart. Not worth 40 dollars. Maybe worth 20, but that even seems high. It will be a long time before I have the itch to play this one again. Also, I agree with everyone here: the theme music ****.

Finally a great arcade classic racer on my Switch. It's a pity it doesn't have online but still a lot of fun.

As someone who played original Cruis'n USA in arcades back in 90th, i can happily confirm that this is it. Decorations changes, but the feeling is there. This unique racer game can be compared only to the arcade editions of Cruis'n series and maybe Crazy Taxy. I don't agree that this is niche game as the its main pros are in gameplay area were it really opens and blasts when you get to the harder levels. It gives really rare mixture of feel-good entertainment, comfort and challenge which you will never get from GT and Forza games. You just cannot produce such gameplay with raw money and labor. Reviewers saying it is silly entertainment... well. I guess silly is to drive 101st uber-realistic racer when you can drive a real car. This game gives you something real driving can't. Hope Nintendo and Raw Thrills will continue Cruis'n series as such games are not just a games but a statements showing us alternative direction of gaming evolution, opposite to stupid gambling, loot-boxes and other money-mining trash.

Cruis’n Blast Fun while it lasts Cruisn blast is one of the most fun arcade racing games ive played in a while, here you can go through the cups, do a single race or up to 4 friends can play together… going through the cups youl lunlock tracks, youll unlock vehicles to drive.. and this game is crazy, you can race a firetruck, a ufo, a dinosaur… Blasting through these linear races, jumping off of ramps, doing tricks, grabbing money and keys to unlock more cars… all while crazy stuff is happening around you, yettis, zebras, storms… this game is an absolute blast.. and then. Its not. Sadly theres just far too few of content.. theres seemingly 24 tracks here as theres 6 cups with 4 tracks each, however more than half of the tracks are exactly the same except now its raining or now the zebras and giraffes are dinos… so it only took me a little less thn 2 hours to be over the game.. the racing doesn’t really feel like racing with how small these tracks are, you never feel like you have enough time to catch up in harder difficulties as youre always starting in the back of the pack and gameplay wise theres not much to do in race, sure ramps give you a little boost, but doing tricks seemingly does nothing, theres no way to regain used up nitros.. once you’ve been through a track once or twice the novelty wears out due to how shallow the gameplay is.. That being said I loved the 2 hours I did have with this game.. For a deep deep discount this is a must have for any racing fans collection I give Cruis’n Blast a 7.5/10

An incredibly fun port of the latest entry in the Cruis'n arcade racer series. The game features vibrant and bizarre locales and vehicles which helps it to stand out from other titles in the genre. Some of the unlockable vehicles are absolutely insane, and added a great deal of enjoyment to my experience. The new tracks in Cruis'n Blast are remixed versions of the original arcade courses, which offer a decent amount of variety, but I feel like for $40 a few more tracks would've been more appropriate. The gameplay itself isn't exactly the most refined, but it's very fun, and offers a good amount of replayability. Local multiplayer is included, but for some reason no form of online play is available at all, which feels like a major omission for a racing game released in 2021. Even still, there's enough single player and local multiplayer content to justify checking this one out.

It's really important to know what ot expect before buying this, because if it's not your thing, you will HATE it. The first thing to realize is that this game is unlike other games, thought with some similarities. It controls like a kart racer and looks like an old style arcade racer, but you cant fall off and you don't blow up when you hit walls. So the comparrison to old cruisin or rush games, are not quite right, despite this being a racing game from an arcade, this really isn't an "arcade racer". The bad: You can't fall off the edge, or hit walls, so there is a lack of skilled play for people used to other driving games. The tracks only go one lap so the races feel quite short. Definitely a lot of budget issues, if you're a big graphics person, this won't be for you, they reuse levels, and a lot of the designs and animations are janky. You will definitely not want to play this for hours straight. The theme song is maybe the most annoying vieo game theme song of all time. The good: High speed feel. Over the top level designs. Nice feeling controls. People of different skill levels can all compete. It's fun to try to get all the keys to unlock stuff, and the stuff you unlock is pretty cool. Despite it's issues, it is undeniably fun to play in a way you can't quite put your finger on. There's not much else to say. This is a 7/10 game, and that's just fine. Don't buy it with unrealistic expectations, this is not burnout 3 or blur, but if you think you might like it, do buy it, because the better it sells, the more likely the designers will add more stuff.

Ignore the Meta score. No, this isn’t a realistic racing sim, or a deep, 3rd person adventure game. It’s a straight up arcade racer, nothing but fun and speed. Drift, wreck your opponents, collect cash and keys. Unlock new cars, do crazy stunts. It’s a must buy if you love arcade racers. It’s beautifully done, graphics look great, especially for the underpowered Switch. Great game to blow off steam or play with family and friends. We don’t have enough games like this anymore, and I’m glad to own Cruis’n Blast. It’s a fantastic port!

If you value fun then this game is for you. It is a throw back to the days when games were simply made to be pure joy to play and watch. The tracks are crazy and over the top, the action is frantic and the music is catchy. Gameplay wise it is straight out of the arcade racer play book. Simple to get into but hard to master, with plenty of shortcuts and collectables on each stage. It is a pure adrenaline rush. There are a good number of tracks to enjoy and loads of unlockable cars and upgrades. It is not after your cash like many of these games so often are these days. Everything is unlocked via gameplay. Screenshots of the graphics do not do the game justice. It looks amazing when running and there is so much going on in the background that even watching someone play is a joy. I wish more games like this were released...

Mainly looking at this one for my 5 year old daughter, but I also have enjoyed it a lot. First off, this game can be perfect for young kids. Set it on easy mode and if you hold down the gas you can't go wrong. There are even options for auto gas and tilt controls (similar to Mario Kart). It doesn't take too long to unlock cars if you are itching to take a ride as a unicorn or be a shark with a freckin laser on its head. For adults it is some crazy good fun. It can get pretty hard on higher difficulties. Not a huge amount of replayability and you can unlock everything pretty fast. This is a fun ride.

A short while back I visited a local arcade with my partner, and we got to play together on a Cruis'n Blast arcade machine. This was after the announcement that the game would be coming to the Switch, and following this arcade session, we knew we would be picking this game up. Cruis'n Blast is an arcade racer, it's pretty fast paced, and the game is meant to be silly fun more than anything else. For the most part, the game succeeds at that, and your vehicles range from standard cars to fire engines to UFOs and hammerhead sharks. The game does a good job at feeling like it doesn't take anything seriously, which works very well. This all being said, the game is very much far from perfect. There are some weirdly jarring dips in quality at some points, including some courses being reused at points to fill out a grand prix, just with some of the decorations around the course changed. Another issue occurs if you slow down during any of the courses (which you're gonna be doing if you want to find all the hidden keys), since if you slow down for any reason, the entire world around you just stops. Course events are tied to your speed, so slowing down means that a pair of colliding trains will simply stop moving, while all the passengers remain frozen in a state of unceasing agony, waiting for their untimely demise. Of course, this only occurs if you do something the developers obviously didn't expect or want you doing in the first place, which is why if you try to turn around at all in this game you're sent careening forwards for no apparent reason. The game does at least looks good... when you're not slowing down and inspecting the corners of the game. If you do that, you'll find that a lot of the environments outside of the track are very unfinished. As an overall, if you're simply looking for a good and enjoyable arcade racer, Cruis'n Blast will deliver you that. It's not exactly well made, but the game is fun, the music is great, and while the game has its fair share of issues, the whole package ends up pretty good at the end. Small edit: If you're interested in the game but you're sitting on the fence, take a trip down to an arcade that has one of the machines and give the game a go!

Like other reviews are saying, you probably already know if this game is for you or not. Back to the simple but flashy arcade racing games of the past. I personally love it and hope it's successful enough for us to get more games like this.
