If you like side-scrolling shooters and missed this one in 1998, give this faithful port a go. Just beware that the control scheme brings complications.

Stuttery control issues aside, Blazing Star features some of the most intricate shooter gameplay you can find in the vast pool of shmups available on the App Store.

The game can feel like it's playing itself, and the confusion isn't helped by graphics which are considerably south of beautiful.

Blazing Star is an excellent side-scrolling shooter, undoubtedly one of the best for Neo Geo, but in this mobile version it suffers from some unresponsive, slow touch controls and the lack of an auto-fire option.

Blazing Star is more notable for its poor English translation than its gameplay. The best thing about it is that it supports the iCade.
